A large portion of the Godzilla fan base are convinced Titan X from Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 is the Monsterverse version of Toho's Biollante – but it's not. Titan X is a codename for the mythical monster's real name and its origin is vastly different than that of Biollante's. Not only that, Legendary do not own the rights to the Biollante character (yet).
Introduced in Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989), Biollante is as a grotesque fusion of science gone wrong. She is created when the DNA of Godzilla is spliced with that of a rose and a human — specifically the cells of a scientist’s deceased daughter — resulting in a massive, plant-like kaiju with writhing vines, acidic sap, and a haunting, semi-sentient presence. Representing the unintended consequences of genetic manipulation, Biollante is both a physical threat and an emotional one. Her shifting forms – from a monstrous rose to a towering plant-beast — cement her as a symbol of humanity's attempt to control nature, only to create something far more powerful and sorrowful in the process.
Titan X's origins are still unknown, but we do know for certain it's not Biollante. That being said, as new details surrounding Titan X become available, we'll be adding them to this Monarch Intel page.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 is now streaming on Apple TV as of February 27th, 2026 and will span 10 episodes ending May 1st, 2026. Season two picks up with the fate of Monarch — and the world — hanging in the balance. The dramatic saga reveals buried secrets that reunite our heroes (and villains) on Kong’s Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea.
