It would appear that despite hiring Dave Callaham to pen the story for Godzilla x Kong: Supernova after he provided the story for Gareth Edwards' Godzilla (2014), the next Monsterverse movie may not follow the same dark and serious tone we previously assumed it would. Reports are beginning to circulate that director Grant Sputore conducted test screenings already for children of the actors who played in the film. Furthermore, actor Jack O'Connell was quoted mentioning how thrilled he was to have finally been in a movie his 5-year-old daughter could watch:

Certainly doesn't sound like Supernova will be the dark and serious tonal shift we were anticipating, especially considering this next installment will be introducing SpaceGodzilla, who will undoubtedly bring about plenty of chaos and destruction.
Assuming these reports are true, do you think it will have any impact on Supernova? Monster action and violence usually don't constitute strict ratings anyway, that kind of censorship is reserved for Human characters only. As long as the mayhem and violence remain exclusively for the monsters, the appropriateness for children may be a non-issue after all.
