Co-director of Toho's next Godzilla movie, Shinji Higuchi is apparently feeling some anxiety when it comes to delivering a quality Godzilla film that fans worldwide will appreciate. The original article was posted in Japanese, but thanks to our friends at Gormaru Island, we have a rough translation:
"Long story short, Shinji has extreme anxiety regarding GODZILLA-2016 due to the growing expectations from G-fans in Japan and overseas.
Representing the Japanese Godzilla, returning Godzilla back to his dark nuclear roots with the boasting of him "our worst nightmare", and attempting to deliver Godzilla with the best special effects possible. All of this is weighing on our director, as it should because dropping Godzilla in your own native country is like fumbling a pass that could have won you the super bowl in the last few minutes of the fourth quarter. It's going to be something that you won't be able to live down in your career within the film industry."
The article they're referencing of course can be found here.
