This past Thursday night, Legendary and Nerdist continued their Monsterverse Watchalong event with a viewing of Kong: Skull Island. Marking the second entry in Legendary's Monsterverse, Kong: Skull Island is noteworthy among fans for a variety of reasons. One of the main points of praise for the film, however, is in its mesmerizing visuals.
The film is regarded among fans as having some of the most incredible pieces of imagery from any recent kaiju film, and perhaps even from any kaiju film ever. The visuals are so good, in fact, that the film was nominated for Best Visual Effects at the 2018 Academy Awards. During the #MonsterverseWatchalong viewing of the film, Legendary and the film's director Jordan Vogt-Roberts shared a plethora of interesting information and insight into the film on social media.
However, by far one of the coolest things to arise from the watchalong was an entire gallery of concept art from the film. By viewing the artwork, fans can get a look into the developmental period of one of the visually best kaiju films ever made. It's amazing how, even in its early stages, the film still manages to capture viewers merely with its looks.
