Durp004Godzilla ForumSAW THE MOVIE.. THOUGHTS ANYONE ?

I haven't watched Godzilla vs King Ghidorah for some time but I'm like 90% sure they just moved his location, not sent him through time. Hence the creation of heisei Godzilla, the dinosaur sat in the Berring sea since they transported him in 44 later a Russian sub went down in that area creating heisei Godzilla explaining his origin in 84 when he just rose out of the sea and attacked that ship, hence why it's Biollante's cells that create SpaceGodzilla since all of that did happen, they were the ones that made it happen, since they moved Godzilla here where he could be radiated.

And Ghidorah wouldn't rewrite history since he was under the control of people who probably kept him inactive since it wasn't until 91 that they were there to control him. Ghidorah was only attacking in 91 because they told him too therefore if they never took control of Ghidorah the monster never would have attacked to begin with.

And Durp, the basic understanding is the fact that they believed that the dinosaur was indeed Godzilla. Which somehow, someway, teleporting the dinosaur to the year 1991, if this were the true origins, the knowledge, history, or even Godzilla's name, did not disappear the way it should have.

Instead, we get a dinosaur That turns into Godzilla in the same year. Even the one from 84-89 disappeared, but, the memory of Godzilla was still there. How does that make sense at all?

And again, if anything held up strong with this film, ghidorah himself would have taken over and re-written the history of Godzilla with himself. It would have been ghidorah that terrorized the city of Japan ever since 1954. Yet, where was he?

It lacks commonsense as I have pointed out severely in my posts Gg.

A lame last half? Maybe. However, it doesn't lack to severely in special effects, commonsense, and humour. And it has main characters. Not a single one of you have even attempted to point out who the main character(s) are in Godzilla vs. King ghidorah 1991. Oh wait, that's right. It doesn't have any.

Also Gg, coming from someone who I know that enjoys the ps4 Godzilla game, the ending is almost identical. Especially and specifically, the freezing part.

Godzilla vs King Ghidorah was the first Godzilla film I ever saw. It is phenomenal, far better based on tension, action, acting, and drama than Shin-Gojira's lame last half.

I don't see a problem with the logic of going back in time to stop godzilla from being created. The logic was sound in that regard based on the information, the characters had. The explanation isn't exactly sound, but the information is all there to give you the real story in the movie if someone is willing to look.

Hence why I don't view Godzilla vs King Ghidorah as anywhere close to bottom of the barrel in terms of Godzilla movies. It tried a tough idea of time travel and looking into Godzilla's origins. It also is more physical than most of the heisei fights with the monsters displaying a decent amount of movement and one of the best looking godzilla designs. Sure it's basically Godzilla with Terminator logic, but there has been much much worse.

Well, Durp, that's the reason why they traveled back in time. Exactly 10 years in advance, which was 1944. True, their theory of the dinosaur was Godzilla in the first place was wrong. But, that did not stop them going back that far to try and stop Godzilla from being a known monster or even the history behind it.

This is the main problem with the fan base. Every other fan I know of and have talked to believe he was a dinosaur and just looking at our conversation alone, will tell people differently. Even in Godzilla vs. Destoroyah, when they have to kill him before he goes into meltdown, they also state the fact and I quote, "we must kill him the same way we did the first Godzilla (1954), the oxygen destroyer."

I never denied the characters in the movie were wrong about Godzilla's origins. I pointed out the irony in fact, it was the fact they were wrong that created the heisei Godzilla.

And like all topics of past, we always go from one movie to another. It's nothing new at this point.

Again, it does not show that. The history of Godzilla from 54 was in the air and around to make people remember who or what Godzilla is. Yes, 54 was dead. However, the one from 55-89 was supposedly to some, the same Godzilla. You and I both know it isn't. Again, when you're trying to get rid of a monster like Godzilla, you travel back to time to stop him from being a part of your history.

Its also noted that the H-bomb in the film, tested on Lagos island is what turned the dinosaur into Godzilla from...wait for it...1954. You of anyone should really know this as a fact from the movie, yet for some reason you try and deny it. I haven't figured out why either.

As far as changing people's minds on these films, that was the least of my worries. I pointed out the films weakness, you tried to defend it.

The heisei era Godzilla isn't the same Godzilla from 54. The movie shows that.

When I said the point was that they didn't destroy him they created him, that was the irony of the movie. By trying to get rid of Godzilla they dropped him onto a crashed sub that eventually made him the Godzilla that showed up in 84 while another totally different monster showed up in 54. Hence why nothing changes when they come back to 91, except the placement of Ghidorah.

How does it shift to Ghidorah, after they find out about Ghidorah the movie is then is Shindo rushing to try to bring Godzilla back since he views him as a savor, sending another sub to the spot they think the dinosaur was dropped. This explains why the sub runs into an already fully formed Godzilla and is destroyed, with Godzilla coming back larger due to the nuclear energy he just absorbed.

Not sure why you're talking about heisei in a thread about Shin though, it's like because someone mentioned that they liked G14 more than Godzilla vs King Ghidorah your stance became, "well that's only because GvKG sucks." The overarching theme of this thread as the replies so obviously lay out is that no matter how each of us view the movies all of them are different.

You like showa the most and. I like heisei the most, and someone here probably inevitably liked the millennium series the most. Everyone has their favorites and preferences, doubt you'd change anyone else's opinion on how good or bad one of these movies are anymore than they would change yours.

Also, the tone and mood of that film would have shifted from Godzilla to Ghidorah completely. The book would have been about "The birth of ghidorah."

Instead, they ask "what is king ghidorah?" The dinosaur that was supposed to be Godzilla that was teleported to the year 1991, was getting rid of the dinosaur so that the atomic bomb did not make the dinosaur become Godzilla. The dorats are left behind in place of the dinosaur, and from that point forward, it was ghidorah that supposedly was to have been around since 1954, whereas Godzilla would have been the mutated monster appearing for the first time ever.

Which again, Godzilla from 1954 was never confirmed to be a dinosaur. He was this prehistoric monster awakened by nuclear tests. Not mutated. This recalls my statement of the heisei Godzilla being the true bas####ization of the original character. 1991 is a very far cry from 1954.

Uh, no Durp. The whole point of the time travel was them going back in time to get rid of Godzilla and remove him from history. They tried to explain that throughout the film. That was the whole purpose. I mean, "What can you tell us about Godzilla? He's gone." if that were really the case and he was gone, that question would have never came up and The Godzilla book from the supposed future would have vanished. Almost 40 years of Godzilla history, would have been extinguished.

I was iffy the first time I saw it. I did enjoy it but I was pretty let down at some of the bad cg shots especially since those shots could have easily been done with puppets or suits. I wasn't sure how the film was gonna hold up for multiple viewing due to all the dialogue heavy scenes and the fact that I will no longer be surprised by godzillas new powers. I did see it a second time because who knows how long it'll be till we can get a region 1 DVD and in happy to say the movie was even more enjoyable the 2nd time around. The camera angles and scene cutting was great in my opinion and the music at certain points was remarkable and the older tunes struck some nostalgic chords. A great movie in the Godzilla catalogue.

Ben the point of Godzila vs King Ghidorah was that they never got rid of him they created him.

And once again are the 90s movies any more offensive than the late showa(outside the 2 mechagodzilla movies)? If you want to look at problems and bad effects we can look there with every problem you bring up to the 90s movies.

Why are special effects such an issue here. EVERY era has had different problems with effects. You don't really get into Godzilla because the monsters are doing these hyper realistic things, if a monster gliding through the air is hindering the experience that much you could nitpick pretty much a problem with every single movie in the series.

Well, Damn me. Sorry for having to study these films day in and day out, night after nigjt, week after week, year after year.

It is possible though Gg. The millenium series, specifically, Tokyo sos, was retrending old ground and was a basic remake of Mothra vs. Godzilla 64 with Kiryu thrown in as an almost after thought. Same applies to Godzilla vs. Mothra 92. It was almost a retrend of Mothra 1961 with both Godzilla and Battra thrown in as almost after thoughts. G14, was like an American made Terror of mechagodzilla 75.

Again, I don't hate these films. But, when you compare them to the movies that really banged the franchise into existence, specifically the Showa, you then realize how much ground is retrended. Although Shin Godzilla is a complete homage to 1954, it actually had some new ideas that took risks and kept Godzilla fresh. To me, Shin Godzilla is the movie this franchise has needed for a very, very long time. Sure, it has its flaws, but what Godzilla movie doesn't?

Also, I find that incredibly rude. Especially when someone says that "If you don't like the heisei Godzilla, you can't be a Godzilla fan."

So then I question you with this. If I can't dislike certain films because of their lack in knowledge, commonsense, and special effects, what makes you a better Godzilla fan, than me?

It boils down to what you know in terms of tokusatsu at this point. Especially in knowledge of Godzilla.

"If you don't like the heisei Godzilla, you can't be a Godzilla fan"

??? Wut??? That's another hypocritical, lost, backwards, half-A##ed comment.

"Greatest special effects in Godzilla history" ? Live action requires more than gliding through the air. The lack of wing flapping is enough to make you vomit. There's more to special effects in tokusatsu than just things that go boom or overly done with Spark effects there, Gg.

I don't hate the films but, they are complete garbage. In fact, Godzilla vs. King ghidorah follows the same dang beats as Monster zero 65.

The Heisei Godzilla has some of the absolute GREATEST SPECIAL EFFECTS IN GODZILLA HISTORY. Godzilla vs King Ghidorah, although it is hyper confusing--is a ton of fun and has an amazing fight, far better than the lackluster Shin-Gojira final battle.

I know Shin-Gojira is a solo film, but Godzilla 84 and 54's last section is so much more intense and jaw dropping, it makes the film just seem low tier--to which, for a Japanese Godzilla, it is. If you don't like the Heisei Godzilla, you can't possibly be a G-fan.

If anyone takes a step back with their brain on full power, they will realize how rough these 90's films are. Spacegodzilla is by far the worst.

Who's the main character in the 90's heisei series? The plots? Don't make me laugh. The plot in ghidorah specifically makes absolutely no sense. If Godzilla were truly gone, how would people in 92 or even 91 still know of the beast? The time travel wasn't the best thing ever introduced to the series. Like I pointed out, if Godzilla were truly gone, the Japanese would have no knowledge of Godzilla what so ever and the economy would have been totally different.

One of the worst with movies like Godzilla vs Megalon, Godzilla's Revenge, and various others out there?

That might be going a little far.

And the heisei series is some of the worst. I mean, 12 year old kids could point out how bad they are. 80's >90's by a long shot. If anything, the heisei series is the true ba#####ization of the original character.

2014 is about as good as Godzilla vs. King ghidorah 1991 which is one of the worst. The heisei series from 91-95 has the absolute worst special effects in live action I've ever seen. All the flying monsters with wings are gliding through the air like cardboard.

I'm sorry I must of been misspelling the movie's name. Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah was my least favorite godzilla of the Heisei peroid.

I know about all the Japanese tropes and technique in the Godzilla films--I have studied for awhile, but that does not change that the film itself was bland, boring, and weirdly demonic. Shin-Gojira as-well was weirdly demonic, which is a common thing in Godzilla movies--but can also make the film feel to, overdone.

I'm a Heisei fan, always have been--and Shin-Gojira is very far down my list.

Godzilla vs. Megalon

I know its from the 1973 but this movie I have to say was the worse of Showa era Godzilla films. Okay maybe it was early 70's Godzilla. Its been like two years ago since I last did the marathon.

There was a lot of movies to watch so I couldn't remember all of the correct dates.

"if you were a godzilla fan you would of know which ones I was talking about. The Late 60's Godzilla movies were stock footages of the early 60's godzilla movies."

The only film in the late 60's to use stock footage galore is Godzilla's revenge 1969. Please study harder.
