I love how Rodan here sort of resembles the original 1956 Rodan with a similar head design like that of Gyaos. Mothra looks a little decent. Ghidorah looks like a freaking epic dragon.
Well, there will be a panel and exclusive, limited private party for those who buy that package, perhaps you could tell them and they can pass the message on!!
Chris- It does look like a Gyaos head.
Been floating around here for a while but finally felt inspired to join up properly after reading through the comments on this one. After watching various reviews and opinion leading up to Kong I was expected what they all claimed which was a universal chorus of "Monster action is great, dialog and acting is TERRIBLE, don't expect much". My expectations were low, and the opinion on here seems to be much the same. But I must disagree. I expected little, and for John C. Reily to just be annoying comic relief, but I found myself really liking the characters, and he was superb in that he actually had an arc and a satisfying story, my wife was literally crying beside me as the credits rolled and I felt fuzzy. Sam Jack was delightful in his usual bravado, John Goodman was pleasing and made for a great addition to the Monarch mythos, and even though Hiddleston and Larson didn't get the parts they deserved they were still satisfactory. I think people need to lighten up on the harsh criticism of the writing and acting, and I'm sincere, it was a thoroughly fun and enjoyable movie but I think the human side of the equation is getting too little credit.
Apparently this will be on Netflix
NETFLIX ACQUIRES ANIMATED "GODZILLA" MOVIE Streaming Service Distributing Globally in 2017!
I was thinking the same thing ^ thought of Gyaos immediately. It was the head shape I think. Could have been exaggerated because of the paint, who knows.
To me Rodan looks a lot like a showa Gyaos.
@Godzilla 2014 himself,
From multiple sources around legendary, they all tend to point that Max Borenstein will not be on board for Godzilla king of the monsters.
Which, to me is a good thing. He can't write characters in worth a damn and his story telling is rather boring. Ever watch "Seventh Son"? There's a huge reason it bombed at the box office.
Godzilla film crew in my home state?! If only Anno was there.... Maybe he would then know how americans would actually behave.
@Ben, haha thanks! Totally flew past that typo, I fixed it now!
@Huge-Ben
Max-Borensteins not involved with the next one? I thought he was
@Chris,
You've got "Ghidorah deaign" not design. Lol. :P
Anyway, not to go against anything anyone has said but, from my understanding and point of view, these cave paintings seem to hint that Ghidorah is an earth bound creature. Unless of course he is from space and we just don't know it yet.
But the final photo is enough to show us what looks like a battle already happened or a prophecy about to begin. From what I saw in the theaters, like Chris pointed out already, was Godzilla using the atomic breath and ghidorah using his beam attack.
As for Godzilla king of the monsters, legendary really needs to step up their game for the next one. Kong Skull island is a fun movie, but with hardly character development and a poor script, Kong could have been made a lot better. The best news we have for Godzilla king of the monsters, is the fact that Max Boring-stein will not be involved.
I look forward to seeing what legendary does.
I haven't seen Kong yet, I'm seeing next Saturday. But I can't wait, I'm psyched to this after credit scene. I also would like say that whether the Godzilla and Ghidorah cave painting is a historical fight or a prophecy that it's freaking awesome. I personally believe that Godzilla King of The Monsters will be the best movie in the Monsterverse. It has a great director, great cast, and and all of the great monsters. I'm stoked
I can't wait. I really want to see Kong's parents.
Actually there are up to 4 figures in front of Mothra, but only two have their arms raised! Definitely not just a blurr:

Is it just me or did the design of Rodan kinda look like his Showa design?
There is actually no shobijin. That was just because the image was blurry and it looked like there was 2 people. This is the HD image i took at the movie on the 10th.
The After Credits... These were beautiful... Rodan... Mothra... and King Ghidorah... I walked out the theater... with a hell of a smile.
Wish the would do an anime instead, for all the Monsterverse movies.
badass....will it be released by Dark Horse comics?
Saw the movie.. in 3-D.. awesome. plus there is a bonus. But I wont spoil it. If you have not seen this movie.. do so.. it was well worth the money.
This comic may serve to add a few more links with Godzilla, as some scenes are set in 1995 and 2012, and Ishiro Serizawa is even name-dropped at one point.
Sweet! I loved when they did this with Godzilla Awakening
It was a fairly convenient flaw with the image though.
Well, so strange to have a right wing party called "The Liberal Party" lol. As a diehard liberal myself (the leftist kind lol) not real happy with Abe. However, I do understand that Japan would like to have more control over the ability to defend itself. Still, some of the inhuman ideas of Abe are just horrible.
saw the movie last night.. in 3-D.. awesome flick.. and there is a bonus. it does not matter if he could exist or not. I have been criticized for delving too deep into movies.. so now.. I just go with it and enjoy.
A very well-written, thought-provoking article. It helps to underline that Godzilla is not just a 'monster-on-the-loose' character. It's the symbolism that adds a lot of meaning to these films, this great series.
I love both of these films even more now.
Thank you.
Unfortunately it seems my observation was a little premature. In the film itself I can only see one figure there, it appears the blurriness of these screenshots simply created a double image.
Just saw it. Loved it. Will see again tomorrow
What a profound way to look at things. One of your best pieces, I would say GMan. I love how you tied it all together at the end, well done!
Now on the topic, which direction do you think or see Japan taking?
It's still pretty cool though.
CGF,
If you're talking about this photo, it's been confirmed fake. It's fan made, which is why we didn't report it:
To be honest when I first heard Michael Doughtery was directing, I was 50/50, primarily because of how Krampus turned out with mixed reviews but a film I personally enjoyed and thought that it was done pretty okay. When they announced the cast, I have some high hopes now, but it's just the writing for the cast members I'm a bit iffy about. The writing in most of the film's Doightery worked on is pretty good, but I really hope they don't make it turn out to be too much of a comedy like they did with Skull Island a bit.
But one thing I am mostly interested in is how they plan to incorporate Ghidorah in this considering Ghidorah was an alien monster and I don't see aliens coming into play of the #Monsterverse. But, hey, I'm very excited.
Man that was deep
They've already revealed a photo of Godzilla in the Tanzawa mountains, he's LARGER than the highest peak of those mountains which ranged from 1000-2000 meters and he's above that range, so this is by far the largest Godzilla we'll ever get.
He looks cool with a combination of G14, Shin and Millenium.
Oh jeez, don't even mention the Transformers. The only characters that went through an actual arc was Optimus and Megatron... That is it, and all of them are the same exact thing. And to be fair with this, I honestly don't think they'll go beyond Godzilla vs Kong, but if they want to go with this #Monsterverse idea, they would have to com sip with other films than just Godzilla or Kong.
I would actually like to see an Anguirious film to be honest.
Hopefully something new. I just hope it doesn't start feeling stale like the Transformers movies.
