New chapter. Plus a new country Godzilla and his allies have never been to.
Looks like a Kaiju passed through in the first picture. Can't wait to find out which one.

Maybe slightly taller than 150 like 155, 158, or 160.
Ok cool, still waiting for leak Ghidorah and Rodan design.

This is a message I sent to FUNinmation on Twitter:
"Dear FUNimation: If you chose to re-issue this seminal Godzilla film, Shin Godzilla, you may want to consider giving it at least the treatment afforded Attack On Titan: Japanese and US Trailers and translated Ending Credits. I do not understand why your present release of this film does not even have a trailer for the film itself? Why would a feature like this be omitted? This was one of the most anticipated Godzilla films in the history of the Series. Shin Godzilla was a massive critical and commercial success in Japan. And you, very admirably, distributed it in theaters last fall. This was a great treat for fans. But this Blu-ray/DVD release is disappointing. It looks and sounds great. But, in terms of features meant to enhance the enjoyment of the film itself, it falls short. I don't know if anything can be done. I would imagine (and hope) that Shin Godzilla will do well in this release. But, as a film and entry in this iconic series, it deserves better."
^Largely the same sentiments. It may indeed happen, but it still shouldn't.
150 meters or so sounds like a good baseline, taller than the tallest film Ghidorahs to date whilst not being too ridiculously tall, like Legendary Godzilla himself.
^I know what you mean. I am against the whole wing walker idea. But I know Legendary is probably going to design King Ghidorah that way whether we want them to or not. Look at the male and female MUTO's and The Skull Crawlers. They both hunched over, I guess they thought they looked more menacing like that. King Ghidorah will probably follow suit as well. The cave paintings don't suggest that so far based on their design, but I just know its going to happen. I hope im wrong. I never wanted to be more wrong in my life.
Yeah, it doesn't look like he's hovering. There's just mountains and images of people fleeing/dying in the foreground of their bodies.
I doubt the cave painting image is anything to take too literally, but with Godzilla standing 108 meters, the Ghidorah in the painting seems to indicate something larger than 150 meters--But I'm eyeballing something potentially not worth putting much stock in.
That would be sick! Who is the artist?
To me, Ghidorah doesn't look like he's hovering. I think there are in the foreground and there are mountains in front of them, to show size and mass. Godzilla doesn't look like he's in full figure so I assume its the same with Ghidorah. You don't see each others feet. but we do know Godzilla is 350ft. so I only assume based on my observation that Ghidorah is around 500-550ft.
Probably little bit taller than Heisei Ghidorah.
^He's hovering in the air, which could lead to overestimates.
Ghidorah was 492ft in the heisei series. Godzilla was 328ft. So if G14 is 350ft in the monsterverse and if we are going with the accuracy of ancient cave paintings, my guess would be around 550ft. That includes wing height. That's my guess based on the painting. King Ghidorah has always towered over other Kaiju's.
Well whatever is shown at comic-con I hope it creates great forums such as these. Maybe a teaser trailer or poster. Maybe a monster design. Or roars from the monsters. And hopefully another Monarch timeline event. I never went to a comic-con before so I'm not ever sure of what to expect.
^Mostly that. Past dealings with distributors probably factor in to it as well.
I think that the reason why toho is very picky about what other people do with godzilla is because of 1998
He would probably be close to his size in the Heisei saga.
"I do. In private."
What you talking bout Willis?
Well, thank you both for your insight's on the matter. I get the fact that they want to make money, that's their job. But I hope they realize that maybe they can get a deal to follow in others footsteps and release the original along with the American release. I mean they will at least see a some kind of way to make their precious money back. As long as they release this as respectable as possible. maybe put a little documentary in the special features, something to beef it all up. I wish I can find it.
^ And because of that there's little hope they will ever be re-released on Blu-ray in the future, especially considering they're now in Universal's ballpark as far as I can tell. That is unless the miracle scenario of Universal attempting to capitalize on Godzilla vs. Kong and being willing to spend money comes to pass.
^Although I praise the Classic Media DVD releases over all others, they unfortunately didn't sell as well as the distributor had hoped.
They better! Think of all the money Classic Media made from the Japanese versions of Godzilla movies and Media Blasters as well for the contributions to the original versions. I'm sure there are other ones I'm not mentioning. It would be a loss for everybody if they choose not to cash in on the KKvG craze. It's the last original Godzilla movie I need to complete my DVD collection.
I think if we'll ever see an official Region 1 release of the Japanese cut of King Kong vs. Godzilla, it will have to be around 2020 as an attempt for Universal to cash in on the Godzilla vs. Kong hype. If that isn't enough for Universal to finally purchase the materials from Toho, then nothing will be.
Hail to the king. And I agree with what SR said.
His immortality is now two-fold. He shall live on through the ages as the heart of our greatest and most beloved monster - a shadow for our dreams and nightmares.
well now I know what I need to do. are there any blu-ray or dvd regions that are the same here along with english subtitles? im looking up on amazon to find out. I really need that version. been waiting too long. Hell, The Return of Godzilla took 32 years to release the original on DVD here. When I think about it, Gojira took 52 years to release in America. Along with the other classics! Im just tired of waiting around for KKvG to come out next! ill just find a good one online I guess. any suggestions?
^Likely never.
Universal owns rights to the American version in perpetuity and have never expressed interest in releasing the original cut. To do that they would have to deal and pay with Toho for it. I can only assume since they own the American cut they feel they have no need to.
It's really a shame since the Japanese cut is much better and tonally superior. It's really a funny movie and a clever satire, but a lot of that is cut from the American version to try and make it "serious".
I have yet to see the original Japanese version of King Kong vs Godzilla. Anyone know when that's coming out on Blu-Ray or DVD over here in the States?
Fun fact about Destroy All Monsters. For the final fight scene at Mt. Fuji, the scene needed over 20 cable operators to give the battle life. It also featured more monsters than any other film at that time.
I started this topic to celebrate the events of kaiju history this month. Little did I know the legendary Haruo Nakajima would pass away. Putting a black mark on this month as well. Long live the King!
Through the films, he will live on forever, because through film, nobody can truly die.
As likely as anyone else's guess I would assume.
You can tell he loved his job. Very sad world without him. He will be missed by fans all over the world.
May he rest in peace
