^Good on ya, man. :) That's the way to go.

I certainly don't intend to spoil anything in a comments section; that's just plain inconsiderate.  If anyone is curious and doesn't care about spoilers, however, a PM is the way to go.

However, I'd urge you all to just wait to see the film.  The events that occur surrounding Godzilla and humanity after the latter' return to Earth is best enjoyed not knowing what is going to happen.  But that's just my two cents.

^I know what is going on too and, whether it is true or not, have chosen to remain quiet out of respect for others who do not want spoilers.

^ Sorry man, but that's not the case.

I will not spoil the movie here, but I will say that the 50 meter Godzilla that caused humanity to flee the Earth and the 300 meter Godzilla (referred to as "Godzilla Earth") are the same creature.

In regards to the "second Godzilla" thing, I know what's going on and whether it's true or not, and I'll only spoil it if you guys want me to.

I hate to be a ball-buster here but, there's only 1 confirmed Godzilla in this anime. He starts off at 50 meters tall and grows to 300 meters. 984 feet to be exact. This Godzilla does have a tail beam attack just a little bit different than Shin Godzilla. The Japanese I've talked to all confirm this but have not told me about the story. I'd like to keep it that way to be honest.

This is all the information I contain at my disposal. Spoilers I guess. Don't worry, more to come soon.

^Oh. thanks for the info.

I never noticed the chin spikes. you may be on to something, but I heard about the tail power a while back.

@Sci-Fi King25, It could be Godzilla Jr. This is a Planet of the Monsters after all. If you look at 1:03, you can see Godzilla is missing the chin spikes. But is you look at the beginning and end of the trailer, he has them. there are likely 2 Godzillas.

@riggzamortis86, I think that invisible ray is an EMP. This incarnation is supposed to emit EMPs like the Muto, so it could a directed attack. Whatever it is, it's pretty cool.

^it is believed to be coming from Godzilla's tail like in Shin. That's what I heard. Don't hold me against it though.

I want to know what the "invisible ray" coming from Godzilla's mouth is. What is the story with that?

I think there are two Godzillas. Look at 0:45. There’s a beam that looks like the Atomic Breath coming from somewhere offscreen, but you can see Godzilla in the background.

On a similar note, NHK World did a half hour special on the film that has found its way to YouTube.  I'd post it as an editorial, but I currently have no internet in my apartment, so formatting a banner and typing out a full article is sadly not an option for me right now. :(

So, here is be:

I would have made an editorial myself for this trailer, but the last time I tried it didn't work. Which is why I made a discussion post for the trailer. Oh well. What's done is done. Anyways, I'm intrigued by Godzilla's new powers. I can't wait for the anime to come to Netflix.

I don't know what I saw in the trailer exactly. But it looked as though Godzilla was creating some kind of unseen ray to destroy those ships? Like he was breaking the sound barrier? im really going on guesses here. not at all sure what I just saw. but it looks pretty cool and cant wait to find out what it is

Didn't one of the eggs survive in Madison Square Garden...

I jest!

Speaking as a non-fan that doesn't really 'get' Godzilla, I imagine the Legendary Godzilla will likely cherry pick the most popular elements that have been introduced into the various other Godzilla's Toho have released over the years, which would be evident from the choice of other creatures they plan to use, as such I imagine the Legendary Godzilla will likely adapt Minilla, Godzilla's plant origins and possibly Shin-Godzilla, though I doubt they will adapt the Mecha version.

As to this new Godzilla (2014 version) It has not been revealed whether or not he has offspring.. but.. the mutos procreate.. so if nature is true to form.. then it is a safe bet.. that Godzilla (at least the Legendary version) will have offspring too.

I know that Shogo Tomiyama and Masaaki Tezuka both acknowledged the possibility that the 1954 Godzilla/Kiryu was the father of the Godzilla featured in the Kiryu Saga films, explaining the connection the two of them shared and why Godzilla was drawn to him. I believe they also said this wasn't necessarily canon, just a valid interpretation.

Godzilla definitely has a family. Minilla and Godzilla Jr. are both adopted by Godzilla but no confirmation on brothers, sisters, mother and father.

I like to think the original 54 Godzilla is the father to the 2nd generation Godzilla of the Showa, heisei and millennium Godzilla series. That's why they always rage war with humanity. That's just what I like to theorize about. Something for everyone to chew on.

He might have a son in Godzilla: King of the Monsters in 2019, but they might have to come up with a new name for it, like Little-G or G-Jr. or something similar. So he might adopt a son because he might not have had a family, at least of his own. But this is just my thought. What do you guys think?

Minilla is said to be Godzilla's adopted son, just like Godzilla Junior. In the film Godzilla is simply drawn to his distress call and eventually accepts Minilla as his son and begins raising him. The film never outright discusses the fact that Minilla is adopted, but official books like The Official Godzilla Compendium and even Toho's official English-language website say Minilla is Godzilla's "adopted son." The same applies to Godzilla Junior. I'm not sure about the Final Wars Minilla, because official sources only tend to say he is "a juvenile member of Godzilla's species."

minilla hasn't been seen after final wars. but there's a good chance he could be in the next movie. but Godzilla has been lonely quite some time and Godzilla's depression makes him even more angry. and are we sure minilla is Godzilla's son? He was found by the giant preying mantis.

I have watched all three of them on Youtube and they were awesome. I just hope Legendary uses a similar format or structure (I don't which would be the right term for this.) for Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020. What do you guys think?

It's in Chicago. You can look up G-Fest on Google, but here's the site.

To Octopus: I do not know, but I do know that it was a planned trilogy.

To The Legend of Brian: I know what G-Fest is, but where is it at? I have always wanted to go there ever since I found out about it, but it never says where it is. Do you know where it is?

I'm no expert on it so I wouldn't even know how to answer. If I had to guess, it all depends on how much Toho got from Netflix. If that has already payed for the cost of the three movies, then I don't see a reason to not release the movies theatrically. Toho only stands to earn some extra cash from it. If not, Toho might just put them directly on Netflix.

Do you think the next 2 anime films will get theatrical releases or go straight to video/TV? This was a planned trilogy right?

Reply
The Legend of Brian Godzilla ForumGodzilla: Planet of the Monsters Box Office Watch

Yes it's real. I was at G-Fest 2017 and Shinji Higuchi confirmed it. It was a major factor in how much time he and Anno had in making Shin Godzilla. I imagine that this film being animated and co-produced by Polygon was a way to work around their contract with Legendary.

Reply
MinecraftDinoKaijuGodzilla ForumGodzilla: Planet of the Monsters Box Office Watch

Maybe, but then Toho would be breaking their contract with Legendary about not making any live-action Godzilla movies until after Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020. Of course, I do not know if that contract is real, so can somebody please reply and tell me if it is real?

Reply
OctopusGodzilla ForumGodzilla: Planet of the Monsters Box Office Watch

Wow. But then again I really believe this was intended to be a straight-to-video/made-for-TV type of movie anyway. Kinda like Batman: Mask of The Phantasm back in the day. Had this been live action it would have done scores better.
