The Wolfman looks like King Caesar with more fur, a smaller face and ears.

Hmm I'm interested in your guys responses. I guess to reiterate my final question, would you guys, if say for example you were doing a marathon of the series, watch this as part of the marathon, or leave it as a fun footnote? I personally think this is as close to a Toho movie that a fan film can get and I'd include it. It's more classic tokusatsu to watch!

UPDATE (12/13/17): Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters has fallen out of the top 10 in its fourth weekend. Kogyotsushin either doesn't cover top 10s or World of KJ can't translate it. As a result this will likely be the final update unless more information is uncovered.

Based on its dips in percentage, projections estimate Planet of the Monsters at a $3.1 Million. Additionally, Toho Cinemas revealed the last day the movie will be playing is December 21st, making it impossible to hit even $3.5 Million. The estimated attendance sits is 169,000.

1. I recall a similar experience to yours and found it absolutely fascinating and intrigued that these filmmakers just wanted to make a Godzilla film and they pulled it off!

2. I want it to be released soo bad! I think a giant Wolfman would be so much fun to see fighting King-goji! it would be like watching a forgotten showa film! Love it! I hope Toho just comes to their senses and realize this is going to make some money for them and they didn't have to put any money in creating it. so no matter what they will make their money back just by distributing it through DVD and Bluray release.

3. I added Nakajima to my facebook but honestly I hate Facebook so much I rarely go on to check anything out. Even if he posts anything I would rather read the news on this site than to ever check that post on Facebook

4. I would purchase this movie and forever cherish it and have a huge party at my house and feature it on my projection screen to share with all my friends. However I would never consider it canon with any part of any series of Godzilla films. Toho didn't have any part of it or Godzilla's original creators, plus it is clearly a fan film made by a dedicated fan. The film is literally a scene by scene recreation of some of the action scenes from King Kong Vs Godzilla(at least what I saw on youtube). Still very impressed with the FX though. To realize this film was shot in a garage is incredible! Plus I am a huge Horror fan, so hearing about a giant Werewolf fighting the King of Monsters is every Horror fans wet dream!

1. I don't remember when I found out about this, but I believe that I was shocked.

2. Hopefully it get's released.

3. I have not been to his Facebook

4. I would totally purchase it, but I do not know if I would include it in the Godzilla canon.

riggzamortis86Godzilla Forumwhy is zilla 1998 so bad?

well we will never know. I am glad that the 98 movie did come out for other reasons that suited myself. I couldn't find any Heisei series Godzilla movies except for 84 and Biollante ojn VHS, I lived in a small town where the movie shops didn't carry much, then 98 hit theaters and all of a sudden all 5 90's G-movies where around and I finally could see these movies as a kid. The toy stores carried more Godzilla action figures from the classic era and I could bask in the glory of Godzilla for the first time as a kid with close to zero Godzilla action figures and books and other Godzilla memorabilia.

The 98 has a place on my DVD shelf along the other giant kaiju films. As a 12 year old kid, this movie was very exciting to me to see. As I grew older I realized its short comings but can not deny it also has a place in my heart. Whether its nostalgia or just not willing to come to terms with its short comings back then, Im still going to keep accepting it as a way for a small town Godzilla fan to experience something I would have never been able to experience as a young kid stuck in the middle of nowhere.

still a bad movie tho, haha

Hopefully we will get an update on when this will come to Netflix since it's close to being done with a theatrical run.

Yes, but it's completely fallen out of the top 10 and will be pulled from theaters soon. I'm currently compiling as much info as I can. This will likely be the last update.

Things would be very different had the 2014 movie been a success amongst fans and the box office. (Which--Box office was very different back then too. Even G'14 may not have made it, but that's a different story due to a changing era.)

Toho may have stuck with their decision to not make another movie until 2005 and we would likely have never been given the Millennium series, Shin Godzilla and the anime trilogy. At least not in the way we know it.

^Interesting opinion. But what I meant was what if the 2014 movie was, in an alternate timeline, the first American Godzilla movie? As in, what if the 1998 movie was never made? Keep in mind, though, that the millennium series was made in response to the 1998 film.

^I still think 2014 movie would have stayed the same. The Zilla film had zero influence on this film and Im glad it didn't. The 2014 movie was a step in the right direction, imo the legendary film is in no way the best Godzilla film but with hopeful 2nd and 3rd films being installed in the near future I believe we will soon see a great American made Godzilla film. With Dougherty on the slate for the sequel, I believe we will see the best US Godzilla film ever made(that is still not saying much compared to 2014 and 1998), then with GvK we will see an ending to this trilogy that will make Godzilla a home in the US film industry.

I agree. Rebirth Of Mothra was a cool idea but the over bearing child actors really made it hard to care for them at all. Im very surprised they made 3 of them.

Just wanted to know about its place in the Godzilla continuity.

Well, if godzilla is going to be a plant, all they need is a large amount of futuristic Roundup (weed killer) and plant Godzilla dies. The end.

Just seeing this article makes me wonder what would've happened if the 2014 movie was Hollywood's first attempt at making an American Godzilla movie instead of this movie. In other words, what would've and should've been.

The Rebirth of Mothra trilogy is set in its own standalone continuity unconnected to any other Mothra or Godzilla films.

oh, just making sure what is going on here. I always wondered if The Rebirth of Mothra trilogy is in the same continuity with the Heisei series at all. Hearing about her fight King Ghidorah in 1999 sounds like ROM3 to me.

No, Mothra herself just allegedly fought King Ghidorah in the year 1999.

so rebirth of mothra series is in the same continuity with the kiryu saga?

It could fit if Mothra just came in, fought Ghidorah, and left leaving the JSDF confused and unsure about what just happened.

^If anything they had an uneasy relationship/stance with Mothra--Which is why this new piece of continuity doesn't really work. But here we are.

Godzilla X Type-3 Kiryu Completion was published almost exactly a year ago, on December 21, 2016. The timeline in question was written by producer Kazunari Yamanaka. It's certainly an act of retroactive continuity, but continuity nonetheless.

Hmm... The 1999 thing feels a little too close for comfort based on how characters react in Tokyo SOS. Obviously the Kiryu Saga timeline included movies we've seen, some of which clearly had altered events-- But pulling from Godzilla movies, yet Godzilla was absent from the events? Okay Toho... When was the book published, The King of the Monsters?

The King of the MonstersGodzilla ForumContinuity of the Godzilla series

It turns out the Godzilla X Type-3 Kiryu Completion book published last year further expands the continuity of the Kiryu Saga, detailing appearances by more monsters in that timeline. Apparently the JSDF successfully defeated Kumonga in 1967 and Gigan in 1972 using Maser tanks, while Mothra aided the JSDF in defeating King Ghidorah in 1999 prior to the second Godzilla's appearance.

G. H. (Gman)Godzilla ForumNew Toho Godzilla Movie Released Every Year Until 2020

Well we already knew that:

2016 - Shin Godzilla
2017 - Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters
2018 - Godzilla: Decisive Battle, Mobile Breeder City & third anime film
2019 - Godzilla: King of the Monsters
2020 - Godzilla vs. Kong

And then Toho gets exclusive rights back.

I know Ota has made comments about Godzilla representing the 2020 Olympics before, so I can't speak to how new those comments actually are. This could be a cherry picked article made from information reported over the last year or two. I'll look in to it. Thanks.

I can't believe that I just came across these articles today. These have been great!! I knew that some of the millennium films didn't do great, but I didn't realize that GMMG and GFW were such flops at the box office. I always thought GFW was a pretty crappy film (it's a live action anime, featuring Godzilla), even though I enjoyed some of the things in there (Gigan's redesign, seeing old monsters come back, etc), I guess it makes sense now when talking about the directing mocking Godzilla and the fan base. Seems kind of like a major miscalculation on the part of the producers. I think GMK is the smartest, and most substance-filled film of the era, but I think my favorites are G2K, GMMG, GMK, GXMG, GXM, and then GFW. I especially love Godzilla 2000.

No, Son of Godzilla is not a fanmade movie. It is the 1967 Godzilla movie in which the world is introduced to probably three of the most scariest-looking kaiju ever: the Kamacuras, Kumonga, and (one of the most ugliest kaiju ever), Minilla.
