Everybody wants more monster action, especially with four kaiju in the story. But, a good story, an interesting narrative, is just as important. There is potentially, a lot to mine here: the whole Monarch backstory. They brought back Serizawa and Graham-which I love for the continuity-give them something to work with. And this cast is simply gorgeous. I hope that they're not just standing around expressing varying forms of shock and amazement.
So, I hope it's well written and totally unpredictable.
The story is dumb? ok, I'm a bit worried, but hopefully the monster actions are good enough for me to give it 10/10.
May you provide the link to that reddit post, if that is alright with you?
It's very important to note that Jeremy Conrad is basing this off a source's friends so....The much better news is there is a reddit post in the movies subreddit from someone who has seen 40 minutes of Godzilla 2 and is much more positive about the characters/story and film overall
I am guessing that the filmmakers behind Godzilla 2 are replicating what made Kong Skull Island successful, and avoiding the complaints of the 1st Godzilla.
Is it really too much to ask for both? Other movies have done it. It's not impossible! These movies have had some very good actors. Don't waste 'em.
How likely is this the final design for Ghidorah?
I hope good fights of monsters, but if the human plot is not good, it will not be a good movie, it will only be a movie with flat characters and monsters giving blows, and I know we do not want that, obviously I want to see fights, but I also want to see a development in the character of godzilla, a good human plot, as nations react to what is happening, and hopefully the atmosphere is optimal. While Kong Skull Island was entertaining, its characters were basics and fools, and they showed both Kong and his fights, that the emotion and the surprise factor was affected, well it's just my opinion...
Really don't care for it at all so far, but my perception of the design doesn't determine my stance on the whole movie.
It probably is real too, since the company denied the design was Ghidorah and said it was from a scrapped project they did 10 years ago, then promptly took down the video.
This honestly what I wanted, a lot of good monster action. We've already seen that trying to focus on human characters is a terrible idea, and Kong proved this by making a fun film with flat characters. This film just needs a simple monster movie plot to show us the monsters and pit them against each other. Seems like that's what we're getting, which is awesome.
TBH I'm actually fine with cardboard characters, they work for monster movies. I don't go to these films to see the characters, I go to see giant monsters.
Remember it is just a test shooting when have not been introduced to the characters properly
Wow, if this is real that is an incredibly thin Ghidorah. Can't say I don't like it but it sure is different.
3:46 behind Andy, the video was just uploaded this morning so that’s all I’ve got.
Very fascinating... do you have a link to the video and any more information so we can dig a little deeper into this?
Where are the reviews? I certainly hope it's not like Skull Island.
Well, monster fighting being more epic is a good start, that's for sure.
Can the acting really be improved from this point on, or is the actual live-action stuff pretty much done with now and can't be fixed?
Apparently, it was more comparable to Skull Island than Godzilla '14. The same source said people told him the fights were epic, but the characters were cardboard (again, ugh...). No cutaways from the action though.
So.....are any of you going to G-Fest this year? I'm looking forward to get some Godzilla goodness
I am happy recent movies do these test screenings. if the reviews aren't that great, then they can always go back and change things before it comes out next year.
Never really thought about it although some interesting posts have been made. I wonder if a focus group got caught up in a title and thought King was too gender biased. I had to throw that snark in there.
riggzamortis86 Moving along!
Lord Tyrannos,
That's normally how test screenings go... So if something tests poorly they can change it before they finalize all the visual effects and CG.
Doubt it, we've seen no footage from the film.
I'm sure it'll be fine. I wonder if we'll find out if Godzilla's design will get an update? I also wonder, now that Toho is giving more to the production of it's overseas films, if by some slim chance that they will use the the Toho sound effects and roars. Don't get me wrong, Legendary's Godzilla roar is cool and all but it can't compare to the original Showa, Heisei and Millennium roars. I doubt they will switch roars like that or even mix one of those 3 with the Legendary roar but there's always the slim possibility.
Lets hope this goes good...
Lets hope this goes good...
Interesting but are we sure this isn't complete fake? Because it sounds too good to be real.
Another new chapter. People kill a kaiju.
Now this is going to be interesting.
Same.
If they think it's good, then we'll know that things will probably be right on track. If not, it means there's still time for improvement.
Can't wait to see what people think, hoping for good
Epic news. I feel like Godzilla has find something unique, new and exciting on this franchise. Really expanding Godzilla legacy to awesome new level. Blown away and really happy that Godzilla has find new angles in latest incarnations.
Recently I have discovered that there is actually a ton of new info surrounding this scrapped idea, so I will probably update this topic to include the many different ideas that were thrown around for Godzilla vs. Ghost Godzilla.
Im glad we got what we got back in 1995. But to see this kind of idea on screen would be cool. I cant say that Im not intrigued.
^I think the way the size would go is that Godzilla Jr. would be possessed and mutated to be much larger Godzilla. That's how it would have worked out to be.
This is basically just asking "Who would win between a 50-meter ghost Godzilla and a 100-meter tall alive Godzilla?". I honestly don't know how this would've worked.
I don't like the look of Shin Godzilla's statue. It just does not look that good compared to the Heisei Godzilla statue.
I really like this Godzilla's end of the world feeling. He's just this insanely huge super-creature that's OP as shit.
You know, something I realized after seeing this concept image.
Godzilla Earth is standing up through the clouds. Unless I somehow missed a super massive growth spurt somewhere, he should still be 318 meters tall.
Which means that the Clover monster seen at the end of The Cloverfield Paradox could potentially not even be as massive as we thought.
