Mate, as good of a G-reporter you are, I don't believe you've seen the film in any capacity great enough to provide an answer or not on these minutiae details of dialogue and/or worldbuilding.
Unless you have. In which case, STOP SPOILING YOU DAMN SPOILING SPOILER SPOILSPORT! XD
"Unless you work on the film or have the inside scoop,"
*pets chickens*
Hey man, don't count your chickens before your eggs have hatched.
Unless you work on the film or have the inside scoop, we'll just agree to disagree. Heck, ever since Kong's film, a greater effort overall has been made to make connections between material. I could definitely see the writing taking more care to keep things consistent.
Also, it'd explain the movie-only plothole of the MUTOs having an EMP for any kind of reason not related to modern technology.
It'd be an explanation, sure--But it's not the one you'll get in the movie.
I dunno, original GMan. I REALLY like the idea of fully integrating the EMP disruption from the ancillary material into the primary no-arguments continuity.
It'd be a neat way of playing up the threat of the MUTOs whilst also explaining why Godzilla didn't just pull this particular breath out before.
KaijuWorld,
That's not why it's stronger.
TheGMan123,
The changes will be addressed. The comic has nothing to do with it.
I just hope these changes are explained/touched on, if only tangentially.
For example, I have this theory headcanon that the fight with the MUTOs and presumably that new MUTO-like monster in the upcoming graphic prequel novel has prompted Godzilla to undergo forced growth to become better suited to future battles.
Things like converting fat stores into muscle, growing out his dorsal plates to better channel his atomic energy, etc.
Fantastic collection of photos! Thanks for getting these posted! Upvoted!
I think the changes Dougherty made were to suit what he wanted to see in Godzilla, e.g. the new breath, shape of the spines, and possibly other changes we haven't seen yet.
2019 Godzilla's atomic breath is stronger than 2014 Godzilla because in 2014 the MUTOs had an EMP field around them which caused Godzilla's atomic breath to be weaker. in 2019 we will see Godzilla's atomic breath in its full power.
"we see my breath"
"because I am more powerful"
Oh dear...
I would like to see her, but I'm not sure I would say she's too perfect for it, there are other monsters that would check a lot of these boxes in one way or another, while also having a bigger following or marquee value.
This little vid has a little more to reveal... if you have not seen it... check it out. YouTube.

Anguirus ?
^Good point you guys. Though if they were going to keep the human DNA part I do hope they keep it vague if the DNA even affected Biollante in any way. I think the mystery of that would add a lot to the story.
also, Destoroyah will probably not be in GvK. I know there is a rumor of Destoroyah being in an after credit scene in KOTM, but that likely doesn't mean that he will appear in the GvK. Maybe in a future Monsterverse movie, but not this soon into the monsterverse.
^Which is important--I wouldn't want the human element to Biollante's origin or story to be removed. It's too much a part of what makes it.
I liked.
Another reason - tragic monster.
As you remember, Biollante has a human DNA or a soul from the scientist's dead daughter. This gives depth to the monster. And that is why Biollante fights Godzilla.
This is actually a much better list of reasons than I was expecting. Most of the time advocates for Biollante just want her because they have some warped sense of "realism" that they believe Biollante fits with over other monsters.
But with the Monsterverse becoming less and less realistic, I think your takes are adequate reasons to include Biollante--Although, some things like "human interference" you're about to get a taste of in 2020 with another foe. :3
Note: I don't know why it uploaded this topic twice so if anyone could delete the one I edited to say "delete this topic" that would be nice. thanks :)
I want new content! Show me the monsters!
Oh man, PLEASE be a new trailer!
I NEED MY NEW CONTENT FIX, MAN!
I can't wait to see more!
Let's hope we see more of the monsters. I am hoping for Mothra seeing as we have seen very little of her.
I really want to see Mecha's in the monsterverse and these kinds of art just make me want them more and more. This looks EPIC!!
EmptyH,
They kept it to three toes for the remainder of the Showa series. It's been four toes since 1984 with the exception of Shin Godzilla. Though I think the look is just exaggerated for preference here. He does have "fifth" toe, but it's not quite that pronounced. We learned this from the first teaser image for Shin Godzilla:
All I know is it looks like something that would royally own my butt in Horizon Zero Dawn. But mad props on a great piece, there's a reason I hate drawing mechs and it's pretty much this right here :P The better they look the more painstaking hours it took.
Anybody know where there is a toe count for every movie? I know in the original and Raids again he has 4 and then in King Kong vs. Godzilla he has 3, but I don't remember the other ones. Has he had 5 before?
I can not be more excited than this
I've been a fan of him since Lost and Fringe. Although he does "pop up in media" a lot, usually as a supporting role, he's a great actor.
Nice! Really enjoy him whenever he happens to pop up in my media, most recently the Horizon Zero Dawn game. The cast is certainly adding an interesting assortment, but for the most part I think they look pretty good.
Based on what was available for streaming, it seems Criterion will be using the international dubs when available. The Classic Media DVD for The War of the Gargantuas included the UPA version of the film, while the Criterion-licensed stream had the previously rarely seen international dub synced to the Japanese cut. Which is a shame, since the UPA dub is much better than the international one. It's kind of interesting, since Toho's original Japanese VHS release of the film apparently included the UPA cut along with the Japanese version.
Criterion will likely be bound by Toho's whims. Toho prefers overseas distributors use their international dubs (if one exists for the movie), so I wouldn't expect there to be multiple options for films with in-house dubbing and international dubs.
I wonder if criterion will release them with the dual dubbing
I wish that the media blasters Blu Ray/DVD from 2011 was easily accessible
My mom and dad took me on base to see Godzilla 2000 the look the just power of him and how he seemed to just never quit it took me when I was a child and I've never loved him any less
Looks good for something else, but it's not Kong. The brown fur, bipedal stance, strongman physique, that is Kong's unique design and makes him stand out from his real life counterparts.
I like the design of this Kong but more for a speculative evolution story.
@Im Durp @godzilla3580
I agree as well
