Hell no! I never saw Kong as a match for Godzilla and as much as I love Godzilla and I own all of the Kong films.... I have no interest in seeing a remake.

That sounds like Godzilla vs Gigan. Gigan and King G come from space and there is a scene where they are fighting by Godzilla tower and Zilla and Gigan start trying to out do each other by totalling a building before fighting each other again.

Incredible FulkGodzilla 2014 ForumWhich monster do you think Godzilla will face First?
I highly doubt it's Mothra. It sounds more like Kamacuras (The mantis from Son of Godzilla). I wouldn't mind seeing that especially if it's the first fight to help Godzilla get over (talking in wrestling terms here). But I think it's just a brand new monster made for the movie. But if they use any Toho monsters here (I doubt it though) I would love for it to be The Smog Monster Hedorah. He would be a great opponent for the first movie and he is well known/ well received enough be just that. I would love it to be King Ghidorah, but I think it's safe to save him for the sequel.

Legendary and Warner Bros. will still be the ones releasing Godzilla. So yes, you will still see their logos in the trailer. Universal has nothing to do with it. Warner Brothers is still under contract to release the rest of Legendary's movies under their partnership, which are: Godzilla, 300: Rise of An Empire, Seventh Son and Cyber. Just because Legendary has partnered with Universal, doesn't mean it nullifies their contract for movies they made with Warner Brothers. Warner Brothers also does not hold the rights to Godzilla. Legendary will be taking the rights to Universal if a sequel is ever made.

G. H. (Gman)Godzilla 2014 ForumWhat Gives?????
The hype and buzz WILL start, but lets not kickoff when there's still a lot of time to fill in the game. For now I think the Comic Con buzz is more than enough. Already people are forgetting about their animosity and simply anticipating the movie with talk of what color Godzilla's ray should be, what monsters should appear in sequels, what should the monsters do in this movie, nostalgic talk of the series...etc... There is such a thing as coming in too hot with this stuff. What if the hype train starts too early and by the time the movie is released the general audience is already exhausted of the press? It's reasons like this Argo won best picture over Lincoln and Les Miserables. Everyone had expected one of those two to win before they were even released. Audiences, critics and even the Academy of Arts & Sciences got exhausted of hearing about them and opted for one of the lesser hyped pictures. Man of Steel (which IS doing well, regardless of these next few words) was expected to hit $1 Billion worldwide by now, according to WB analysts. If we recall, the first trailer came out in front of The Dark Knight Rises last year. So that didn't help the projected income. And then there's GINO, or Godzilla '98, if you will. That movie had one of the most expensive, widespread and inescapable ad campaigns in cinema history, which included a trailer released a year beforehand, and only made a minor profit, flopping, by industry standards. Granted, Pacific Rim could have been handled better, but it has little to do with Comic Con. Pacific Rim's campaign probably needed to be spread from this past January to its release date. Maybe even December. Instead, only 30% of the campaign budget was used during the course of six months and the last 70% was exhausted during the two weeks before the movie. I'm not sure why this strategy was used, but it is a unique and unheard of way of doing things for a big budget, yet low profile movie. I doubt WB or Legendary will take to that strategy ever again. In my opinion, what needs to happen is by December 2013/January 2014, WB/Legendary needs to focus on a general audience campaign. That way the movie has 4-5 months of a hype machine to fuel its box office draw. That's all that's really needed. Now will they? Maybe, maybe not. Regardless, Pacific Rim's box office mistakes and not showing material to general audiences at Comic Con isn't enough for me to not trust them. They have a plan and I can assure you it will be different from the one used for Pacific Rim.

Godzilla 2016Godzilla 2014 ForumGodzilla vs Bagan
Yes I agree, Bagan would be a good opponent for Godzilla or just nice to see in at least in One of Godzilla's Movies. But what if he was his friend gone Bad or maybe a clone the aliens wanted to test on Godzilla, to see what it could do to him.

I would like the breath to be blue, cause it's Godzilla. Godzilla isn't realistic so might as well use blue. I just want the breath to be like the Millenium Era cause it looked cool whether it was red or blue so i want something like that and something that's not like the Showa Era where the breath looked like someone spraying a can of air freshener.

IMO, Yes I would like to see a bluish breath weapon. I love the original, and I would rather watch it in Japanese with subtitles than the English version. With that being said, IMO I would like to see him at his original size of 50 - 55 meters. It was Raymond Burr and a poor English translation, that gave us his height of a 30 story building. As for his breath weapon, in the original it wasn't a beam, but more of a cloud or gas as you can see when he attacks the power lines outside of Tokyo. Or when he uses it on the crowds of people running from him. This breath weapon has been said to be a (highly radioactive super heated plasma gas) that his body generates giving us the glowing dorsal spines. This is all IMO.

Godzilla does not breath fire. What he breaths has been described in the movies as a "Radioactive Heat Beam" not flames. Also it should be kept Blue. Traditionally the Heat Beam has always been blue. Yes for a short time Godzilla was able to change it to red but traditionally it has been blue.

Yes...Kong is Universal...but the reason Legendary sais they wanted to leave WB is because they wanted to branch out beyond just movies...such as the interactive experience....while WB said they are not interested in that.....so, it would seem if it's Legendary and Universal, then skies the limit.....imagine driving to some theme park with a 400 foot tall statue of Godzilla right in the middle of it,...the potential is incredible,...or on the other hand,.if it's WB...it could get sat on four a number of years like TriStar did and......nothing.......

If Universal gets rights to Godzilla, couldn't that mean a Godzilla vs. King Kong? King Kong is owned by Universal, right? Sorry if I'm wrong.

Well, if that's the case, and WB remains in control,...then it's all over monster fans....Universal is known for it's monsters ,...WB for it's cartoons....bad match in my mind.

From my understanding, after reading the leaked documents highlighting this legal debacle, it sounds like Warner Bros. is still on board to be a distributor for Godzilla, and Universal won't play any part in it. Now, depending on if Legendary owns the temp rights to the franchise, they might carry it on over to Universal, but as it stands, no plans for that have been announced. Also from what I know, Legendary is the main force driving Godzilla, WB is fronting about 25% of the budget. Don't quote me on that, but it's around 20% - 25%. However, WB still has a say in how things like the marketing plays out. So, let's hope the two studios can get along and release the trailers soon... but it must by a tad awkward working with a company you've already said you're leaving. Will this not ignite much interest and extra help from WB leaving Godzilla to face a lazy marketing campaign? Or will they still pull through and knock this one out of the park? Of course I'm hoping for a home run, but only time will tell.

Godzilla's blue atomic beam has always been his signature color. Godzilla 2000's atomic orange breath looked cool too. How about It could start off as orange during the day. Then at night time it could be seen as blue/orange. His spikes could glow white/blue.

But that's the question BIGBADBEN....we don't know if Legendary will remain in control of the Godzilla at all...WB may remain in control...has me on edge to GFAN 84....for more reasons than just the movie itself...but where the franchise will stand....pulling for Legendary for obvious reasons..

^I won't pull out the "true fan" line, but his beam should be blue. People using the argument that it should be red/orange because it "resembles fire" seem to have missed the point. Godzilla's ray has never been fire. It's been called "atomic breath", "nuclear ray", "energy beam" etc... Godzilla's breath weapon is far more powerful and devastating than regular fire, thus the change in color should reflect that sentiment. The blue breath is very unique. It tells the audience that this is NOT normal fire and that it is much more powerful. It's a prominent characteristic of Godzilla and I think it should remain. Even when Toho changed the color of Godzilla's ray in two movies they were quick to return it to the original color. A good decision, because I don't want a Godzilla that gives in to stereotypes. Casual audiences tend to believe Godzilla is a green dinosaur that breathes fire-- Most fans, of course, know that he's charcoal gray and fires a nuclear blast from his mouth. "Godzilla 2000" was a little too close to giving in to those stereotypes and I think the more traditional characteristics should remain. His ray should be blue.

Honesty I grew up with the movies where Godzilla's breath was blue, but from the first film I saw as a kid in the 90's (the original Godzilla vs. Mothra) I always thought his breath should be red. The movies where it was red always made me so happy for that fact and the movies where it shifted between the colors (end of Final Wars) always had the red color being more powerful. Personally I think red is more badass and powerful looking.

LOL You're asking the fan base this question??? Are the film makers and FX artists taking note? Of course everyone will say blue! (Maybe white for some of the original purists) There maybe a few reddish-gold requests for those that remember the end of the Heisei series and the start of the Millennium series.

Blue is Godzilla's regular power level and the red is he's highest level of power when he is really pissed off about something.

LEGENDARY's contract was up and it was they're dicision to split, for the reason LEGENDARY wanted more creative control over they're movie's,GODZILLA2014 is still under WB as far as i know;i wonder how this will affect any future DC movies.

I'm just hoping that means the Godzilla movie will start getting advertised. Does this mean universal movies are now up for advertising a trailer? I hope so. In terms of thinking for the future, maybe we can get a permanent Godzilla Encounter like theme park ride at Universal Studios. But I'm mostly hoping for a trailer.
