Samzilla 14Godzilla ForumWhere does it say that Godzilla can't be killed by a nuclear bomb?Oct 11, 2013
Indeed, well said @InstinctiveGigan. You can't use your opinion to dictate fictional lore. The only film that would work with in this case is G98 for all too obvious reasons.
ReplyInstinctiveGiganGodzilla ForumWhere does it say that Godzilla can't be killed by a nuclear bomb?Oct 11, 2013
@BCrockett94 Did you seriously use "realistically" and "Godzilla" in the same sentence? The fact we're even talking about whether a nuke would kill him or not shows how fantastical this guy is. But it's just a stupid concept, I'm aware of how powerful a nuke is but if it's sincerely true that Godzilla can be killed so easily with the very thing that created him then why the hell haven't we used it already? Talk about ruining every damn movie he's in. They made the Oxygen Destroyer for a reason, that's all I'm saying.
There's nothing to prove Godzilla CAN survive a nuke, but there's nothing that says he can't. That's the beauty of fiction. But the proof is in the pudding. Saying Final Wars isn't a legit movie to use feats from is YOUR opinion, you can't just say "oh no, that doesn't count cuz I say it's BS". It's a fact, Godzilla survived a huge massive meteorite impact and explosion without a scratch. The very fact that Godzilla is fictional means we can make up whatever kind of rules we want about him. All it takes is one Toho movie about Godzilla to say "Godzilla would survive a nuke" for this conversation to not even exist.

\"I mean, this is a dumb thing for me to say, since it\'s Godzilla, but realistically, a nuclear bomb would absolutely get rid of Godzilla. The heat alone would incinerate every bit of his DNA, cells, everything. The only thing left would be a skeleton with no DNA and that\'s if he\'s a distance away from the drop site.\"
Nah sorry, don\'t buy that. Saying a nuclear bomb would completely vaporize Godzilla totally negates the fact that he is completely indestructable to conventional weaponry. Dropping an a-bomb on the beast would at best just burn his skin if only taken by the blast or destroy a portion of it by direct hit revealing some skeleton which would heal back anyway with regenerator G-1.
And since it was never actually attempted in King Kong vs Godzilla i think we can assume that the claim that nuclear weapons could indeed kill Godzilla is pretty speculative.
And for the sake of refference, if Godzilla can swim in a volcano then he most certainly can withstand a nuclear blast(whether you concider Godzilla vs Biolantte an actual G film or not).

For me the original 54\' Gojira, it was the origin point and it was dark, nasty, etc, and it also has this cinematic quality to me . For the godzilla/kaiju versus movies my fave is Gozilla vs The Thing, it felt more intense and as many people have said, the king looked pretty mean in that movie.
Oh and hopefully, Godzilla 2014, I want that to be my new, ultimate favorite of course!

The actual background is fantastic, looks quite legit, but the big fake give away is Godzilla. Clearly incorporated the tail of the official poster and added on the body and plonked on the head of that leaked poster thingy. There's a noticeable lack of spikes near the back of his neck which were present in the trailer too.

I don't like it really, condone the huge effort definitely. Much prefer the the two 'official' comic-con posters, more ominous and teasing, this poster is just a bit too full on. Like the tagline though.

And let's be honest, we'd try nuking the bastard before trying to throw meteors and black holes at him.
ReplyBCrockett94Godzilla ForumWhere does it say that Godzilla can't be killed by a nuclear bomb?Oct 11, 2013
Final Wars is the '98 film of the TOHO franchise. It's not a real Godzilla movie in my opinion. xD It doesn't deserve to be among the real Godzilla movies like Son of Godzilla or Godzilla's Revenge. xD
But still, I'm not saying that it'd be credible, but it also hasn't been explicitly stated that nukes don't do a damn thing, and I just hear people go on and on about how nukes wouldn't do a thing, so I'm left here wondering what movie said that Godzilla was immune to nukes.
The meteor thing was utter crap. Final Wars was Godzilla on an overpowered rampage with ten second, one sided, battles in which half a blast of his breath murdered everything.
I mean, this is a dumb thing for me to say, since it's Godzilla, but realistically, a nuclear bomb would absolutely get rid of Godzilla. The heat alone would incinerate every bit of his DNA, cells, everything. The only thing left would be a skeleton with no DNA and that's if he's a distance away from the drop site.
But really, this was just a question asking people if there was a movie where it was sort of proven that a nuke wouldn't take care of Godzilla. Like maybe a last resort sort of thing in the showa series, because the EMP incident doesn't count as being nuked, or if I missed something in the Millennium series. Final Wars didn't have a nuke in it, and if it did, they didn't nuke Godzilla.
ReplyInstinctiveGiganGodzilla 2014 ForumLeaked poster?Oct 11, 2013
That's superass impressive but you can tell that's the head from the leaked poster with the choppers from other actual Godzilla posters. Still this is an amazing poster, thanks for sharing!
ReplyInstinctiveGiganGodzilla ForumWhere does it say that Godzilla can't be killed by a nuclear bomb?Oct 11, 2013
Am I the only one that remember Final Wars? Where Godzilla survived a meteorite-like impact from Monster X which caused a huge ass explosion, leaving Godzilla in a massive crater unharmed. No I don't think neither the impact nor the heat would kill Godzilla (maybe harm him), the only thing that would really kill him is the amount of radiation he absorbed causing him to meltdown like in Godzilla vs Destroyah.
I think the whole concept of defeating Godzilla with any man-made weapon we have nowadays is seriously stupid. Like, yeah we have over 50 years worth of Godzilla movies of him fighting monsters and us trying different methods to kill the basterd (like an Oxygen Destroyer or a friggin Black Hole in a box), but all this time if we lead him into a remote area and sent a nuke, we'd kill him.
As for his meltdown I never liked the idea of Meltdown Godzilla. The dude can use his nuclear abilities for atomic breath and nuclear pulses but he can't get rid of excess radiation that's unheatlhy for him? Nah, don't buy it. I'm not saying he's unkillable but defeating him with the very thing that created him? That's like trying to kill Superman by throwing him into the sun, or giving Spider-man another radioactive spider bite. It doesn't sound the least bit credible.
ReplyGreenZilla93Godzilla 2014 ForumGodzilla vs. Cloverfield MonsterOct 11, 2013
I've seen people talk about this one all over the internet, and honestly, it all depends on which version of Godzilla we are talking about. Zilla or the original Godzilla from '54 would be a pretty fair fight, but newer Godzilla would absolutely destroy Clover.

I agree that Mecha-Godzilla or one of the other Toho giant robots (like Moguera) are the most likely candidate for a sequal, but the idea of hearing Ghidorah's roar in a post creadit scene just gives me chills. if this does become a trilogy, i would like to see him in the third movie.
ReplymickingGodzilla Fan Works Forumthe REAL reason behind the 1954 attackOct 11, 2013
Gigantis is the regenerated surviving cells of the 1954 original that was killed by the oxygen destroyer. No breeding necessary.
If there ever was any breeding, it had to be in his non-mutated Godzillasaurus form with an, as yet never revealed, second Godzilasaurus before the Atomic tests.
I have a (outside of the box) theory that may explain the paraphysics behind Godzilla's motives.
GODZILLA is a GHOST!
A poltergeist in fact.
A primal spirit that has existed on the Earth since prehistoric times
.
It's mind is that of a dinosaur that is eternally going through the motions of being a dinosaur.
Like the ghost of a soldier who constantly repeats his march across the field of battle upon which he had died.
Godzilla's spirit, not knowing that he is already physically dead, believes he is still alive.
An Earthbound Spirit trapped within his corporeal form in a flash of Thermonuclear fire!
Dinosaurs were the absolute peak of evolutionary life forms on Earth.
Their diversity filled every imaginable ecological nitch until, by whatever means, meteoric or otherwise, doomed them to extinction
. When a spirit leaves the body, it is usually allowed to "step into the light" to merge with its spiritual source.(Heaven or God)
The dinosaurs that were killed by the extinction event, died so quickly that they were deprived of their spiritual transition.
Their spirits were thrust into a dinosaurian PURGATORY where the last living memory they had was a flash of bright light and a huge wave of heat, radiation and pain!
The Godzillasaurus, one of the last remaining living true dinosaurs, was deprived of its "White Light Spiritual Transition Event."
At the time of its death by the intervention of a thermonuclear event!
Another event resulting in bright light, searing heat, radiation and pain.
Godzillasaur's transition was split asunder and all the SPIRITUAL ENERGY of the Dinosaur PURGATORY poured out of the source and into the body of the irradiated dinosaur.
Something along the lines of spiritual demonic possesion!
It literaly became the living spirit of ALL the dinosaurs that had died from that explosive extinction event! That is why the mutated form assumed characteristics of of several different types of Dinosaurs. Mixing up T-rex with Stegasaur and Land-based and Aquatic.
It's actions may even be influenced by possesion of HUMAN spirits that died in a similar instant and horrible manner. (Nagasaki and Hiroshima!)
Perhaps explaining its affinity for Japan.
The early speculation that it was a peculiar mix of bipedal carnasaur and armored stegosaur may have been close to right.
It is an amalgam of ALL those dinosaurs and more!
Its Bodyform is a mixed-up concensus of what all dinosaurs aspired to become. Bigger! Stronger! Impervious to all harm!
Because the last, living memory of all those spirits was of light, heat, radiation and pain, they all chose a Bodyform that could not only be immune to these things, but be able to inflict them upon others, in self defense.
Thus came into being the Physical form that we refer to as the Classic ORIGINAL Godzilla !
His body is held together, telekineticly, by the will and self-image of those spirits.
That is why his body does not conform to, or have the weaknesses of biological entities.
He is held together by his thoughts.
He insists upon believing He is still alive.
Replymalachai20101Godzilla ForumWhere does it say that Godzilla can't be killed by a nuclear bomb?Oct 11, 2013
The main subsistance source for Godzilla, and it has been said so throughout several movies, is nuclear radiation. I believe that while Godzilla may be initially destroyed, his regenerative properties would allow him to return stronger than ever because of the high amounts of radiation. In godzilla vs destroyah, the radiation levels of godzilla's meltdown dwarfed that of a nuclear bomb. that radiation revived a near dead godzilla jr, and made him a full fledged godzilla. example much?

According to the movie King Kong vs Godzilla they can kill him with an a-bomb, but it would cause more damage than the monster itself.
Makes sense...

I don't think it's that it won't kill him it's just like what they said in King Kong vs Godzilla that the weapon would do as much damage as the monsters anyway. Granted they could always nuke him when he's in a solitary area, but hey what's a movie without plot convenience?

ReplyBCrockett94Godzilla ForumWhere does it say that Godzilla can't be killed by a nuclear bomb?Oct 11, 2013
Yeah, but it was more of an EMP after the nuke was nuked. I mean, that's what nukes do to other nukes. xD So really, Godzilla was revived by the Electromagnetic Pulse, not radiation. But I guess that also explains why he wasn't much more powerful after being revived.

You can hear it make sounds, doesn't mean it's dead, but it's probably the easiest thing to assume. J.J. left a bit of space for a sequel, like most movies.
Anyways, if it were to be fair in the slightest, momma clova' would have to be the one fighting, and the "godzilla" would be the one from the Godzilla: The Series.

KaijuChris, it really reminded me of an unnecessary remake of Destroy All Monsters. The only thing that it really improved on were the visuals and slightly less boring acting. You got the Xileans, Ghidorah is the final opponent monster, Xileans control the monsters, I believe they use a space ship instead of the Atragon (Gotengo)... Well, I'm just gonna stop right there. Let's just say that a remake of DAM (Final Wars) was not very necessary, by any stretch of the imagination.

Son of Godzilla, and GMK.
Son of Godzilla was a compilation of some of the most unoriginal, dumb Godzilla enemies ever. Minilla was introduced and every movie afterwards that he was him was brought down. He doesn't even look remotely close to godzilla. Even Godzilla's Revenge was better, it just compiled the fight scenes from that and a few other movies and threw out the dumb plot and useless characters. Granted it replaced it with a plot that was just as dumb, but there were more fight scenes with Godzilla so in my eyes it still comes out ahead.
GMK. Oh god where to start. Godzilla is the souls of Japanese soldiers for 1. WTF? And they're mad at modern Tokyo for either forgetting about them or modernizing don't remember which; either way INCREDIBLY stupid. The monsters Ghidorah and mothra don't fit as guardians as well as the original idea did. The fights were ALWAYS incredibly 1 sided. And to top it all off and 1 of the main problems I had with this is that a soldier drills into Godzilla, and gets out, then the dumbshit godzilla in the movie Kills himself with he beam, because somehow drilling from a blood vessel outward connects that wound with the throat. If the soldier say went inside and detonated his craft and maybe some bombs onboard near godzilla's brain, or heart, and that took him out it wouldn't be as bad, as it's relate to the original with some1 sacrificing themselves to kill godzilla but no soldier had to survive and they did it in the stupidest way possible
Just overall both are really bad Godzilla movies, I'dd have to go with Son of Godzilla being the worse 1 though simply because at least visually GMK looks good.

Well, if that second teaser trailer is anything to go by, the feature-length Godzilla trailer is still a couple weeks away from release, which would place it at around, if not on, November 3rd, 2013 - as I already predicted. ;)
If they show anything, it'll probably be the SDCC footage again. But anything more than that I would be surprised.
