LeedelsGodzilla 2014 ForumMy Version of a Legendary Gigan (2014)

Giant.Indestructible.Garroting.Apocalyptic.Nascent

Well thats the best best i could do. Aside from the obvious words, garrote means to kill with chains, because you said that he had those grappling hook chain thingies. Apocalyptic because of the damage he could do, and Nascent means to just come into existence and showing future promise, because the goverment just made him and would use him in the future. I know, its not that good, but its the best i could do. I love your idea though, of bringing back the old gigan into the modern storyline. I like the idea of teching up the old gigan and him rebelling against the military.

BCrockett94Godzilla ForumAbout Godzilla 1998

I have no real problems with this movie. I enjoyed it. I also consider it a Godzilla movie (sue me), and I don't think it's the worst Godzilla movie ever (for me, the worst movie is a two way tie between Godzilla vs The Sea Monster, and Final Wars). The acting wasn't the best, but most Godzilla movies had terrible acting already. The '98 film had pretty damn good special effects for the most part and damn good cinematography (again, for the most part). All of this was superior to the Godzilla movies prior. Even today, I believe that the 98 film had some of the best camera angles, shots, and lighting to date in a Godzilla film. The movie was pretty cheesy for the most part, but so are most other Godzilla films. I mean, aside from scientific inaccuracies, the only real issue I have with this movie is the fact that Godzilla's behavior is more defensive than it is offensive. Godzilla's usually on the run or being attacked, rarely is he ever on the offensive (except for the taxi chase scene) and maybe the size. I honestly had no problem with how Godzilla looked. Oh, and the fact that he doesn't utilize his atomic breath (there's a difference between highly flammable gas and nuclear powered breath).

Oh and the two missile kill thing. That was stupid.

But overall, it was much better than most of the Godzilla movies, namely the showa movies (except for 1954), Final Wars, Battle for Earth, and Godzilla vs King Ghidorah.

I dunno, again. Not the best Godzilla movie, definitely not the worst *cough cough* Final Wars *cough cough*

@BCRockett94

Well said. It must be a maturity thing. I've noticed a lot of younger fans tend to congregate on this forum. I don't know if the same people from here were making those comments or not, but, either way, it doesn't say a lot of nice things about us.

Again, like I said a few days ago (in another one of the thousands of threads on the same topic), it's not like this poll really matters to begin with. Anyone thinking this an accurate and good way to increase awareness for Godzilla is kidding themselves.

I didn't make myself clear: I was talking about the "big dumb fatigue" with movies like Transformers and Battleship. I wasn't saying that they were dark and gritty, I was simply using them as a point of comparison.

@GODZILLAFAN1995, I know, I was just trying to state that this Godzilla movie will not be filmed like Pacific Rim or like Transformers or anything of that matter. It's going in a different direction. I think people see that. Of course there's a chance it can flop. Then again many people dislike Godzilla 98 and it was still a hit. Godzilla is a worldwide Icon. He's been around for 60 years. I think finacially, it'll do alright. Lets just hope it does excellent.

BCrockett94Godzilla 2014 ForumDark and Gritty Fatigue

Yeah, seriously. Transformers darkest moment lasted maybe a minute at the most. And that was in the third movie when they're trying to get back into the city after (spoiler) the autobots are "destroyed". Then right as you don't think it could possibly get any darker/grittier.. duhduhduhduuuh, the autobots arrive in time to save everyone from imminent doom. and everything becomes horrible attempts at comedic one liners and explosions.

I'm not tired of the dark and gritty stuff, i just don't think they should be making certain things dark and gritty. Everyone knows that Godzilla would be best served as a dark movie, much like the original. Everyone also knows that a dark and gritty Mickey Mouse is probably thhe most stupid thing imaginable next to making the Teletubbies into a psychological thriller.

also the guy never said transformers was dark and gritty he said it is a 'big dumb' movie.

Reply
godzillafan1995Godzilla 2014 ForumDark and Gritty Fatigue

really you either have dark and grity or big and dumb when it comes to movies, most movies like the hobbit, hungar games and harry potter have and element of dark and gritty.

Akio123Godzilla 2014 ForumDark and Gritty Fatigue

Transformers was not gritty. And neither was Pacific Rim. Those were fun "kid" movies with great effects. Gozilla has had many fun and silly moments in his franchise, except, that's not what he's about. He was started out as the visual representation of death and destruction. The metaphor of the atomic bomb. Just watch the original movie. That was their initial view on Godzilla. It only changed once things such as Gamera came out(Which aimed for children) that made TOHO deside to make Godzilla child-friendly because it ment more money. He bacame an icon in the process because those kids grew up and showed their kids etc. He gained generations. This new Godzilla movie is aiming towards his starting character. A frightening behemoth. A walking hurrican. No man, woman, child, building, nor monster is safe in his path. So the dark tone will only help. It will also interest people because everyone will notice this movie is taking itself SERIOUSLY.

I get that every fandom has these annoying pricks, I really do. It just seems that the Godzilla fandom is plagued by these types of people. For every thousand of them, you get maybe five or six decent people.

@BCROCKETT94 Every fanbase has those rabid fanboys. Godzilla is no different, and if other people watching the fandom from a distance can't realize that, then they don't really know how a fanbase works.

I wasn't ever really taking this poll seriously anyway, I voted about three times and that was it. I got kind of caught up near the end of this Vampire Academy-fiasco, and I'm not all that proud to admit it.

However, even then, I agree with you on the hostility of these arrogant fanboys. I mean, come on guys, seriously? It's a movie poll by mtv, something that hasn't been taken seriously since the 90s. It's not going to make or break the success of Godzilla. Instead however, some Godzilla fans took it upon themselves to completely spam the forum topic section with this shit. And now that Godzilla has lost, people in the status section are grieving, as if the movie has already flopped in the box office. Come on.

The only enjoyability I can find from Zilla 98 is the nostalgia. That's it.

I don't see how anyone can call the creature in this movie Godzilla, even if that is the film's title. Zilla literally has none of the characteristics of Godzilla. They cannot be deemed the same in any way.

Way to make us look like decent people! We were the most likeable people there. Now even MORE people are looking forward to this movie because we kept on calling the opposition "twilight loving prebubescent bitches", and my personal favorite "dumb bimbos that don't know anything about a fictional character with 'rich history''! Ah, we make so much friends wherever we go.:D (sarcasm, sarcasm, and even more sarcasm).

G. H. (Gman)Godzilla ForumKing Ghidorah's reputation

Because it's a challenge and King Ghidorah is a popular character. Godzilla's been stretched and pull in different ways over the last 60 years I don't see why the same can't be done for the original juggernaut that took three monsters to defeat.

Like Godzilla there's a uniqueness to every monster that can be stretched and pulled to do different things, but the fact King Ghidorah's popularity has been like has since the 1960s says something for his appeal. Fans are drawn to him. Writers are drawn to him. Even the IDW comic writers seem to be doing a fine job with allowing him to reoccur over and over.

But saying King Ghidorah has "nowhere else to go" is an asinine comment, not just for him, but any monster. Like many half-decade old, beloved characters and villians writers have probably done a great deal of stretching with King Ghidorah, but perhaps that's not simply the point. Maybe it's also how differently these concepts can be done.

One example is that many screenwriters will say there's on six or seven different stories in every film you see. But it's not about coming up with something different, but rather the way you tell those six or seven different stories. I think when it comes down to it the same can be said for iconic characters-- King Ghidorah included.

You all wanna hear my thoughts? Here it is (WARNING - MAY CONTAIN BAD LANGUAGE):

THAT MOVIE IS THE WORST LOAD OF DOUCHE RAPING, FART KNOCKING, RHINO JERKING, BALL SPLITTING, BIGGEST PIECE MONKEY SCROTUM I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE F%#$ING LIFE!!!! IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GODZILLA, THEY RAPED THE SOURCE MATERIAL, THEY HAD AN ORIGINAL SCRIPT, AND GODZILLA DESIGN, THAT WERE A MILLION TIMES BETTER THAN THE SHIT TRISTAR MADE IN THE END, THE ACTORS ARE HORRIBLE BEYOND BELIEF, WITH A LOT OF HORRIBLE STEREOTYPES - LIKE THE "LOUD-MOUTH, SHOOT-THE-FUCK-OUT-OF-EVERYTHING-LIKE-RETARDED-BITCH-FAGS" STEREOTYPE, THE "GEEKY-SOCIALY-AKWARD" STEREOTYPE, THE "NEW-YORKER" STEREOTYPE, AND THE "DUMB-BIMBO-GIRLFRIEND" STEREOTYPE; ZILLA'S DESIGN (as a Godzilla design) IS AWFUL FAR BEYOND YOUR IMAGINATIONS, TRISTAR DIDN'T BOTHER CARRYING ON THE ORIGINAL SCRIPTED GOLD, THEY INSTEAD REPLACED IT WITH PURE, 100% CONCENTRATED BULLSHIT, PLUS THEY WEREN'T INTERESTED IN GODZILLA; ROLAND EMMERICH HATES GODZILLA, THEY TURNED GODZILLA INTO A PUSSY, THEY SPAT, RAPED, BEAT IT TO DEATH, SHOOT IN THE BALLS, AND TOOK A DUMP ON THE SOURCE MATERIAL WITH NO HUMANITY, AND SO DID THE SAME THING WITH TOHO'S FRANCHISE/LEGACY, AND RIPPED OFF THE FANS FROM THEY HARD EARNED MONEY TO A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT; IT DIDN'T REPRESENT GODZILLA AS A TRUE FORCE OF NATURE, JUST WROTE HIM AS "JUST AN ANIMAL", TOOK THE "GOD" OUT OF "GODZILLA", THEY FILM USED TO MAKE THE MOVIE HAD BETTER USE AS TOILET PAPER, AND IT SPAWNED THE TROLLIEST FANBASE OF ALL TIME - ZILLA FANS (just the fan-trolls, I know there's actually a good bunch out there) - THE GUYS WHO HAS BEEN TROLLING US FOR THE LAST 15 YEARS!!! THE MOVIE IS AWFUL, SUCKS BEYONG BELIEF, COMPLETELY UNWATCHABLE, AND I HOPE THE NEW MOVIE MAKES PEOPLE FORGET ABOUT THAT 1998 FUCK UP VERY, VERY SOON!!!

Please forgive me for my potty mouth, but this is the ONLY way I can express my thoughts about the GINO movie. (The "GINO" applies the title of the '98 movie only, which is what I just did)

@THETRUEAMERICANGODZILLA "TriStar, like Legendary Pictures, wanted a realistic take on the monster." I'm sorry, but TriStar never said anything about a "realistic" Godzilla, they originally were going to make "Godzilla vs. The Gryphon", but the whole "realistic" thing is an assumption people made up. The movie is really beyond unrealistic, plagued with scientifi and physical inaccuracies, it didn't carry the realism the original Godzilla did, which is to be a symbol for nuclear weapons.

True American GodzillaGodzilla ForumAbout Godzilla 1998

As a general monster movie I love it. It's fun and exciting. However, while I love Zilla, I do admit it's not Gojira. TriStar, like Legendary Pictures, wanted a realistic take on the monster.

Zilla ended up being an advanced godzillasaurus instead of a Gojira. TriStar went in the wrong direction with it. I never understand why, in their concept artworks, it looked and behaved more like Gojira and yet these weren't used.

However it did have a cool look and neat aspects (like a powerfully built set of jaws). I'm glad to see some of the cooler aspects of Zilla being part of the 2014 American Godzilla.

when i was a kid i used to like it, but now that is see it, that is not godzilla. people got to understand that is not godzilla. its like if they make superman weak were he can't take a bullet, make him yellow, and make him look more like a alian to be more realistic, people are not going to like him and not think he's superman. that is my opinion.

Overall pretty good. Just two things to note-first I agree that Godzilla 98 needed to be included--it is part of the history and is what it is and folks need to get over it. That Toho decided to change the name after fact does not change it. So kudos to the maker for including it. Secondly, this tribute would have been perfect if the video ended with the roar of the new Godzilla--icing on the cake.

Let's not forget that Harry Potter is one of Universal's biggest attractions and that's a Warner Bros. film just like Godzilla. I think it would be cool if they did one of Godzilla nd also one where you and a friend can pilot a Jaeger in a simulated Kaiju battle.

Playing as Kiryu you can use the Absolute Zero Cannon. You use it by pressing a+b+c+z with all four energy cells filled.

Also, Krystalak has a shockwave ability. It's a+b+c+z with any amount of energy cells filled. Depending on how many energy cells filled depends on much damage the shockwave will do.

I have always hated Fakezilla 1998 since I first saw it. I have always hated the bad acting, cliches, horrible monster design, and the general overall inconsistant sizes of Zilla really killed it for me. I think it is not even a fun monster movie. It is just unwatchable.
