That's a fairly cynical early statement that I can't agree with at all-- especially on a universal scale. There are at least three people I've turned into fans, one on a hardcore level and the others with a strong appreciation for it. A fourth became a fan on mere recommendation. Practically the day after.

Indeed there are people who will turn their nose up at it, but to claim it's an impossibility at an older age, or to suggest the route you've proposed is the most accurate, reads as sort of backwards thinking.

It comes down to the situation, the type of people you're speaking with about the franchise and where their tastes lie. To box all of that into one tiny conclusion is oddly head-tilting. It sounds to me GodzillaFan1995 already has a strong lead with it from his last post.

@AKAGI what makes you think I will make them fans, they are interested in godzilla and want to watch a godzilla movie, I am not going to make them watch gamera because I only watch godzilla. Im not forcing them to become fans, where did I say im making them fans. So I am going to have them watch a godzilla movie.

On a partially relevant note, I remember once mentioning Godzilla in a conversation, and the person responded with "Oh, you mean that giant gorilla?" 

As silly as it may seem, I think that some people unfamiliar with the daikaiju genre might actually mix the two up. I think this person thought "Godzilla" sounded like "gorilla" and therefore mistook him for Kong. For some reason, I bet there are more people who make that mistake! I'm not even sure how to guess which kaiju is better known, since some people might even get 'em mixed up. Both Godzilla and King Kong are household names, though, surely.

Why not, we seened it in Godzilla Vs Mothra 1992 when Battra was fighting Godzilla under water. I could see it happening in this movie.

Gareth Edwards said the atomic breath would be treated differently in the upcoming film. I wonder what he means by that. I presume, with them taking the realistic approach, that it won't be a beam of atomic energy but then..what? I think it may simply be an intense roar/projection which has the effect of an atomic blast on anything in its path? I'm picturing palm trees being bent double, buildings being ripped from their foundations etc (like in those black n white atomic bomb test videos). WIth that in mind there's no reason it wouldn't work under water but to be honest i doubt we'll see it.

And I just realized,  this video is 46 seconds, close to a 30 second spot for tv wow

When the marketing kicks in, they should totally have a spot like this, agree?

But you know, they should have like multiple different spots, a dark toney spot first, then in like April, a month before the movie, have a crazy one like this haha

Didn't this happen at the end of GMK?  It's been a while since I last watched it so i can't say for sure, but I think it may have.

Really interesting question. I don't think we'll see a straight blue beam of light from Godzilla in this movie, like in previous films. I think it'll be less visible and more widespread - as if he's letting off "charges" of radiation. That being said, I'm not sure how radiation projects underwater - I'd have to look it up. But it will be neat to see how they address it (if they do) in the film.

Nothing to bounce back from really, it benefitted us greatly.

But no Junkerde, I saw the thread as well, there were at least 4 members, claiming (quite confidently) that they were members here also, for the sake of only to slander. So, I'm waiting for them to show who they were. It's not like we'll know their actual names or anything, it's the internet. They'll remain anonymous behind a screen name anyways, so there's no harm in saying "yeah I'm one of those members". Unless of course they have no balls. Man up and take credit for your work, I say.

At this stage in the internet, people doubt everything and anything can be faked-- even faking something can be faked.

So its best to just enjoy the ride, like what you see, dislike what you see, whatever, believe it or not, that is up to your discerning eye.

I remember during Pokemon X and Y, there were hundreds of leaks about a week before the game came out... and Best of all, most were true... and people refused to believe them, up until they got the damn game and seen it was true themselves.

People just want to be skeptical, makes them feel intelligent. Either way, its not a terrible thing, I just wish people would be as skeptical about things they are told all the time, like when a politician or a video game company making promises. If only people were as skeptical then.

But I digress, I've seen much bigger sites with much more enduring reputations be had by hoaxes and pranks, so I'm trying to figure out the point?

I mean, I know there are some really bitter former members here (they make their selves painfully well known on facebook and other sites).

i believe it was one man chris, i saw the reddit thread before it was deleted. Let's not get this bad thing to get us down, we can learn from this mistake, surely this will go down as the biggest troll to set foot in a godzilla community in history. For sure after the marketing comes in (well whenever it does) ALL this will be set behind us, because everyone will (will most people) forget about it and instead talk about the movie. This was a big blow but you can bounce back.

Also, the trailer prediction date came from emileid.com, NOT he source who provided me with these videos. So, we still have that to look forward to! Some are now saying it'll be released with 300 - which I would expect, but still could be released before then. But I'm done posting about "when it could come out" because honestly it's the pointless thing to discuss. A new trailer is innevitable, we just have to be patient.

Look, Rob's a good friend of mine, and he's even said that he's not sure what to make of this. He's beginning to doubt the legitimacy, but he's still looking for further evidence to make a final decision.

Amen Chris! :) I sure hope this is just a bunch of morons screwing with us (or at least trying to), and the leaked material is in fact real.  This whole thing seems a little fishy either way.  Someone is a troll, but they won't bring this site down!

I agree with Chris on this. Although I had originally believed it was a fake, WB took it down.  Which means that WB had the rights to do so. If this was just a fan made thing, then WB has no grounds to remove the video, no matter how legit it looks. I'd like a video of someone making this, not just someone messing around with an adobe program.

unfortunately chris, i do have to agree with the others tha it is fake, you can see all the seperate layers in the photoshop part and after effects part of the video, plus the guy used my damn fanart! but dont let you get this down he did bring in many visitors, but at the loss of reputation......idk its a win lose

In that very post you admit that, "Anyone with enough Photoshop skills can manipulate layers of an image." I think it's pretty clear that's what's happened here to begin with.

Yes, some people have a lot of time on their hands, but I think it's worth cutting a loss here. I meantioned before that it looked manipulated and that it was odd there were only 3 second clips-- What we have here are feasable answers for why/how.

The backtracking about it being in a trailer, then later removed for another shot doesn't help either. It makes it look even fishier. Then there's the fact that WB hasn't pulled any of the videos on youtube down-- which, as we all know from experience, they are very much on the ball with that sort of thing.

People - it was a 4 second clip showing virtually nothing. Hoax or not, a lot you are wound up. Chris Picard's a good guy and this is a fan website. The new trailer is coming, TV spots are coming. The movie is coming. Patience, everyone.  

The source who provided me with the video claims to have had a rough patch with the Studio after sending me them. Was that a lie? The emails seemed convincing enough to me and I've had leaks for different movies before. Either way - extreme measures for a quick laugh.

And again, I'll stress - this is a video of a PHOTO MANIPULATION, NOT a video showing the footage being created.

You guys need to step back and really think about these claims. I replied to the original topic here. There's a lot that's laughable about this attempt to slam Godzilla-Movies again, and I mention it in my reply to that original topic. So go over there and continue the talk. I'm locking this now as a repeat.

sadly chris, yes there are people who goes above and beyond just like that to get quick laughs on the internet, i mean a person once faked cancer on reddit to get a greeting message from one of their favorite bands, it worked. it's the sad truth unfortunately....

Nehh I think King Kong is more known.  But you know of course people might find it familiar if asked if they know Godzilla, but all they'll think of is a fire-breathing dinosaur or just a giant dragon, its not like they KNOW what Godzilla is, but everyone seems to know more of what King Kong is.  Oh yeah, and people might even think Godzilla as a tuna-eating iguana

I posted this in the other discussion, but I feel it sums up my views pretty well:

I'm so bloody sick of this fake crap I can't even put it into words.  Is it really that important to the loosers out there that they go to all the trouble to trick us... OVER A MOVIE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!  I love Godzilla and the art of film making.  Both are two of my greatest passions.  But in the end, its a movie.  The fact that there are people out there that go to incredible measures to hoax people is just sad.  What's the payoff?  When it comes to movies these days, you are more likely to find information that is a rumor or simply a lie than to get legitimate information.  Its simply the state of the industry today.  It seems that this movie has been an absolute magnate for trolls, and it astonishes me how far these people will go to get our hopes up.  Almost every day an argument breaks out over the legitimacy of a claim, and its draining the fun of being excited for this movie right out of me.

The guy who put together this impressive hoax was attempting to prove that this site is unreliable, and that the stories reported here are not to be trusted.  While this site has revealed many truths about this film, and has allowed us to discuss those true facts, I am sad to say that this dude accomplished his task.  How do we know what we can trust now?  I'm disapointed on many different levels with this whole situation.  I'll be treating any "facts" revealed on this site from now until the movie is released with skepticism, until I'm sure it can be trusted again.

Wow, it actually comes close. King Kong was the first giant movie monster while Godzilla was the third. However, due to the numerous movies and merchandise with different "versions" of Godzilla...54 was evil..then he was the hero, then he became neutral..then an American version...and now a new movie taking it into a realistic "horror" sense..Although Kong has been around slightly longer, and an incredible version by Peter Jackson, Godzilla has had generatios grow old WITH him. So just as the cool fellow above me stated..Godzilla is more well known, but just by a little. 

No its not fair, cuz people in Japan thats not too concern of Godzilla will probably have negativeness for this movie due to the bad dubbing,  just like whats happening in our country.

So I believe its only fair if we have apsolutely GREAT Japanese dubbing for our version of Godzilla so we can show the Japanese how dubbing is done.

No doubt it will get a dub.  This isn't unprecidented though.  In 1957, Godzilla: King of the Monsters-yes, the Americanized, Raymond Burr version-was in fact dubbed BACK into Japanese and redistributed under the name Kaiju O Gojira (Monster King Godzilla)!  Plus, the 1998 GODZILLA was dubbed for theatrical release in Japan.  So this film will undoubtedly get a Japanese dub.  And the "original english version with Japanese subtitles" will become a much sought after collector's edition. :)

I'm not entirely sure. I think Godzilla might be more known, but just by a little bit.
