Double XX for me.
My local Hot Topic (happens to be right under the cinema I work at) had the Godzilla logo shirts since July/ August. Oh, and here's a tip: buy a size larger! They shrink easy!
@LOGANS DISPLAYNAME Not a full revealance but from all the Fan arts and pre-Design models and leaked images we can already accurately guess how he is gonna look like.
Were there Godzilla releases? Images, I mean.
He doesn't really bring anything interesting to the table until the 7 minute mark when he starts comparing Mothra to fairy tales and ancient Japanese stories. But even then how he articulates his thoughts and carries his language really turns me off. I won't be listening to any more from this guy.
That said it's a fairly accurate defense for Mothra as a character and a creation. I've always liked Mothra, in part for some of the reasons he states. (Although it didn't need to take up 23 minutes of my life to get the point across.)
There's a certain irony to the fact that Mothra is one of the most anthropomorphic monsters in the Godzilla series since she's not actually brought to life by suitmation. Perhaps it's what helps me take her a little more seriously, since I'm already suspending my disbelief through the art of suitmation with other creatures. Had Mothra's character traits been used strictly for a suitmation beast, it might have been a bit harder to swallow.
Her character traits are, in fact, what this guy here listed: honorable, brave, caring. Basically she's the only kaiju with a sense of ethics. Her ethical code is completely pure making her, ultimately, perfect which is why it's so interesting to watch her as an underdog. In some cases you could compare her to the tragic heroes in Greek mythology.
The monster's purity, mixed with a widened demograph aimed at women and personality unlike the majority of the monsters in the series makes her quite interesting and lovable.
I think the reason that a lot of fans don't like her is because they continue to see the forest for the tress. The idea that a giant moth, whether adult or larava, can defeat a giant radioactive beast seems preposterous. (Which is hilarious because the entire genre is built on being preposterous.) But they miss the character drive in Mothra that leads to her victories and write it off too easily as an excuse. But that "excuse" is rarely seen in most monsters. She's a wonderful fantasy creation and an excellent addition to Godzilla's popular canon.
That said I don't want a "dark" Mothra reboot. That's like saying Captain America should be rebooted to be more like The Dark Knight. Dark does not mean better. And it doesn't fit every character. Mothra is not a character in need of dark storytelling. Just good storytelling.
@Frozen
bro.... just let it go
Theres a reeeeaaaally big traffic jam on the 405 (which is in LA) and its been nick named "jamzilla" cause of how big it is
of course i also like the skin texture, looks a lot more real
I love the look of his face and how they have made him all muscular and strong. One of my favourite Godzilla designs in my opinion, an we haven't even seen his full design yet!
@pete
yes, like a strongman, or a bear, or a gorilla...
The VFX will be super sweet. :)
That is probably what it will look like. I think you are very close to its actual design.
I became a fan due to being interested in dinosaurs. When I saw a large dinosaur fighting other awesome creatures I was immediately hooked!
I like how thick they made him. He doesn't look fat exactly, just like big and strong.
Honestly Godzilla's arms should be somewhere in the middle. They shouldn't be too short where they are renderend unusable but they shouldn't be too long like Zilla from the 98 movie. His arms were never that big a factor expect in the early godzilla movies. Most importantly I think they should be proportionate to the rest of his body. So his arms in 2014 may look big or small from somebody else's perspective.
Oh that's gorgeous Sydra! Thanks for shareing!
As long as they dont look like durantula arms, they should be fine.
Interesting. I find his arms rather burley and thick. The way they're built and the posture he gives them reminds me of a bear's arms.
I had never heard that Kawikata developed a drinking issue after vs. Biollante. That certainly explains a lot of things about the declining special effects in the series if true. Where did you read that information.
I disagree that the American cut of Godzilla 1984 was outright superior. I do think both the Japanesw and American cuts have strengths that, if aspects of both versions were edited together, might make the strongest version of the film. But between the two, I prefere the Japanese cut.
I find that Godzilla's arms are similar to the Shodai Godzilla suit. I'm fine with them. Legendary Godzilla is an interesting design to look at. I especially love the various patterns and textures on his scaley hide.
This is kind of getting old now to be honest. Yeah I've posted speculative articles on our news section, because all speculative posts were a result of having some actual, solid information to go by. The troll video was the ONLY post which I jumped the gun on and took a gamble with. Sometimes when you gamble, you lose.
People saying "we deserve to be slammed" clearly don't visit many other entertainment websites. Speculative articles are a MUST as it engages thought and discussion - the sole purpose of this network. I have never posted a speculative article without the support of legitimate information to back up the speculation. I have not once randomly posted a thought of mine without the accompanyment of actual news to help fuel the speculation.
I am aware of Rob and his videos. Unfortunately he has been misinformed about a few details regarding our website when promoting his opinions. I find it unfortunate that someone would profit from slandering other websites and people who are trying to hype this film as much as possible, but he is entitled to his opinions just as everyone else is.
We posted one false story and I even took it down so it can no longer generate traffic. It's gone. Aside from that one mess up, we've had a solid track record as a news & entertainment website. Clearly people like what we have to say otherwise we wouldn't have new users signing up on a daily basis.
And finally, we're Godzilla-Movies.com NOT "GodzillaMovieNews" or "GodzillaNews.com". Just Godzilla-Movies. Don't get our domains mixed up with someone who might run another Godzilla website with one of those domains. That's not fair to them.
man, i knew about this before i even knew about this site, let alone joined it, still it is cool
after seeing the trailer and the toys, its clear he will have big, thick , powerfull arms
I really hope that the winged Muto won't be queen or second form of the eight-legged Mutos, and that "Muto" will just be how they refer to all the monsters (like how they call the monsters "mutations" in Godzilla: The Series). Beehive and metamorphosizing insect monsters are just so incredibly boring and overdone.
I am honestly unsure as to why people are attacking Chris so badly over this, all he is guilty of is trusting the wrong person. I don't see the point in beating a man when he is down. He made one mistake and never meant any harm, he even deleted the thread once he found out it was fake news. That can happen to anyone, he just needs to be more careful next time.
No one has ever has never hidden the fact its a fansite. As for any news it's always clearly sourced in links. e, there is a link to the Official Godzilla site on the login page right under the link to this site. This place is supposed to be a place for fans to unite and talk about their love for movies. Heck, we just got a kid who has cancer in contact with 'Make A Wish Foundation' so his dream can come true. That's the type of place we try to be, a nice place.
Gojira(54), Godzilla vs. Biollante, and GMK.
I have to agree that after Godzilla vs. Biollante, the Heisei Series slowly went downhill. Space Godzilla being the worst film in the series. I read that Kawakita developed a drinking problem after Biollante bombed at the box office. Too bad, Biollante had great spfx with an interesting story and likeable characters. Biollante herself is beautiful and terrifying at the same time. What a shame. I wish the Japanese audience is more accepting about new exciting kaiju instead of re-using Mothra, King Ghidorah, and MechaGodzilla over and over again. One more thing I'd like to mention, The American cut of G85 is superior to the Japanese version.
i think it should have mandibles on it to make it more ferocious
Everyone on the board should pre-order it if they haven't read it. And if you can get a hold of David Kalat's book, it would be worthwhile as well. I don't agree with it s closely, but it's very informative non-the-less.
Both books are much better, more thorough and lightyears more accurate than the Godzilla Compendium... which is pretty much just garbage.
i agree with kyero, really i only trust official news from reliable and 100% trusted official sources, LP and WB with the movie and trailers, big toy companies like Bandai and NECA with merchindise. i also agree with his opinion on Rob of ETN, he isn't attacking fans, he is trying to 'protect' them from beliving unofficial, unreliable sources like the lebenese website (who verbally attacked him in the most unprofessianal fashion and claimed they had links to WB).
I have to disagree with Joshua about this one. Sorry Josh. I respect you and what you do on youtube, but this site has let me and many others down on more occasions than it's come through. I'd say that's a website that deserves the slam it's been getting.
Just as many false rumors and baseless speculations have been posted on this site and slapped with the ever so popular "what if it's true" logo that it's almost laughable. I can appreciate trying to hype the fans and trying to bring them information, but there are limitations and boundaries that shouldn't be crossed if you claim to be a legitimate source of information, and this site has crossed them all more than once. The most recent instanace being Chris's "source" turning ot to be full of crap even though he defended them during the initial "leak." That's a line that one doesn't cross, thinking that your sources are always good ones, and Chris crossed it.
No matter how well you know a source, you should always question them and keep an open mind and that's something I told Chris when I replied to that thread about the leaked 4 second clips that turned out to be hoaxes. I haven't checked since I left that response, but I can guarantee I got hate for it. However, I was right. His source turned out to be unreliable and the information fooled everyone, even him. I was one of the few who questioned the information and said that while I hoped it was true, I wasn't going to put all of my faith in it.
I do agree that this site does a good job of bringing us the latest news once it's out and confirmed, but it's not because they got to it first. When someone else posts first and then you repost it, it's not your news and you have no right to lay claim to the credit for bringing it to our attention. That's something that almost all the fans on this site don't seem to understand is that this site gets its information from someone else who posted it first every single time, even if it's Legendary themselves who post it first. Once the site posts it, everyone says "Thank you for this information!!" even though they could have found it themselves by visiting Legendary's site or by searching for the newest articles themselves. With or without this site, the information would make its way to our attention but this site doens't do a good enough job of relaying that fact to the members who always rely on this site first.
This site gets more credit than it deserves for much of the information that it has brought to us throughout the last few years just because it did so quickly, and that's likely what Rob understands and what he doesn't like about the site. It's also what I don't like about the site, no disrespect to Chris and what he does, but he and his site have gotten more credit for the information than the actual sources who brought it to his attention first. He usually is good about citing them, but he doesn't do a good enough job communicating the fact that it's not his information in the first place and that the true credit goes to those who received/found it first and brought it to his attention. He makes an effor to do so, don't get me wrong, but it's not good enough.
Now despite my little rant here, I do appreciate this site and what it's trying to do. However, I, like Rob on E.T.N, will always remain skeptical about information I find here unless I can confirm it myself elsewhere. Nobody should ever trust any single site for information, even this one, no matter how much they like it.
I am nine (no joke) but i was afraid of Jigsaw when I was 2,3,45,6 and Big G could destroy his arse But that means that Big Gojira is problably scarier because of his size and looks but the trailer is scary alone for young kids but Legendary problably wants to make a young fanbase and they are making kids toys too so it five year olds may just be only bit creeped out but not too much
P.S. if they make it too scary a large amount of audience wont be able to give Legendary money by buying tickets
I agree as to I am confused about what the point of this is. A similar release date doesn't say anything, nor does it mean anything. There's no connection between the two in terms of production companies, distribution, design, or anything. To me, it seems this post does absolutely nothing but say "I liked Zilla but I think I'll like this one even more."
What's the point of that?
he doesn't have much beef, he just calling out news that he thinks is bs untill it is made official as this site has been posting news not official, in his opinion (a fair one as well) he's trying to help gfans reading and accepting with unoffical news.
idk, he definatly has beef with somebody
i think rob is okay with us for the most part.
