Does anyone remeber that demonic kaiju sized bat-dragon that fought burning Godzilla to the peak of his power and won the majority of said battles? Yeah, Destroyah, that thing was female, but where I come from, that didn't make us respect the weaponized oxygen destroyer any less so I imagine the same would apply for Godzilla.

However, you raise an interesting question SOMETHING REAL, but are you really okay with that? Could you imagine if, lets say, Darth Vader was female? You would never see her face and the armor would look exactly the same. What a funny prospect. But in Godzilla's case, well, wouldn't it be amazing if the beast could swap genders in order to perform certain functions. Or maybe in the presense of the female Muto, Godzilla might respond to her by going all female-ape shit and gaining a staggering boost in her aggressive behavior and pain tollerance. Her atomic breath might even function differently. And when the battle is all said and done, she'll lay eggs inside the Muto's heads so that when her babies hatch, they can feed off of all the delicious radioactive fleshy goodness inside the Muto. Then she'll return to the ocean while some unfitting motivational music starts playing in the background - credits rolling as if we didn't all just witness some heavy AVP level of amazing lol. Just my opinion though.

i think that the breath istself will be similar to some of the beams in the millenium series. adjustable, maybe maybe not. but as for how it will be different, i think that it will be accompanied by an emp, which woudl explain things like the planes and the whole "send us back to the stone age thing". i can also see some kind of powerfull pulse or wave emmitted when he first fires the breath, kind of like gmk but maybe more powerfull.

I agree with DURPOO4. I believe Godzilla is male, but he has some characteristics that are female. I believe Godzilla adopts the babies because he is lonely. Godzilla may be more human-like than many realize. Especially if he is willing to take care of an infant that may not be geneticaly his.

The godzilla babies introduced brings up a good topic. We never see any of the families of these Godzillas. All the babies so far in the series have been adopted by the main godzilla of said timeline. The fact most males would never take care of a child, much less than 1 that wasn't theirs(most choose to kill those offspring that they don't father) points to a nurturing side of godzilla. I still believe he's male, or at least intended to be so but there are plenty of little nuances that point more towards female, however his apparent territory that he defends, being japan usually from other monsters is also a characteristic more male like.

Now there's an interesting thought JMTRUDE. What were Godzilla's parents like? I always assumed his father was the 1954 Godzilla.

@SOMETHING REAL - I only went with the male for this godzilla becuase the toys that are describing it as "he" could be the last of his race. Certainly wouldn't matter to me what the gender is. When rebalancing nature, gender shouldn't be the issue. I do believe I heard Gareth mention that Godzilla's race will be covered in the movie so maybe we'll get an idea of what "momma G" was like. 

I agree with Derpy Battra. A female Godzilla would be more destructive and aggressive than a male would. And that's how I like my women ;)

SOMETHING REAL-

It is possible that being a female could make Godzilla much more destructive and aggressive. In some amphibian species and most large carnivorous dinosaurs, the female was significantly larger than the male, Tyrannosaur females being up to 15 feet longer than the unfortunate males, who might've ended up as their meal. So I wouldn't mind Godzilla being female, it just bothers me a bit for some reason.

Kind of don't want an atomic beam in the film. I was in Target the other day and was playing around with the atomic beam Godzilla a bit. And it looks alot like the kaiju blue projectile stuff the PR kaiju shoot. Looks like gunk. Could be the way the toy was made, though.

i think that godzilla is male because his title is King of the monsters and I've alawys thought of him as a he.

If Godzilla turned out to be female, it wouldn't diminish my respect for it at all. If anything, it would make me pleased to know that there is a greater chance of Godzilla reproducing and creating a new generation of Godzillas! :-)

For the most part, I view Godzilla as asexual, even though the 'he/his' pronoun if oftentimes the default pronoun. Godzilla being asexual probably most accurate since very little of Godzilla's behavior is gender relevant. Regardless of what the gender of Godzilla's 'origin' creature was, that much nuclear radiation is enough to make anything sterile lol :-) (yes I know there is a difference between sterile and asexual, but still)

Well and yes, Godzilla doesn't look feminine. But that's a trait of the species I think, rather than a gender trait. Female crocodiles don't look 'feminine' either.

Science actually has Godzilla's back on this one: In MOST species, the female is larger and more powerful than the male. Especially amongst amphibians and reptiles. We tend not to realize this because it's not true for humans, or most mammals, so we have a bias perspective. But if look at all species, and not just the cute ones, females > males in nature physically.

It actually makes sense. The 'Alpha Male' stereotype only makes the most sense in social groupings, like herds in terms of natural selection. However, in more solitary or isolated creatures (like Godzilla) it's more important for the female to be physically fit, since she must guard eggs and/or offspring by herself a lot of the time, while the only thing the male has to do is wander and reproduce.

So yeah, a female Godzilla, in all probability, would overall be larger and more badass than a male one would if we're just playing a numbers game. 

I'm thinking that it ought to be adjustable to what degree it'll burn everything around it. Think something only needs to be set on fire ala the original film? Napalm. Wanna burn a hole straight through something? Classic beam. Why shouldn't he be able to control it?  The way I see it, energy consumption isn't the issue. It's the intense heat from creating plasma to a degree no human could ever hope to replicate, as well as gathering the necessary gases for such a task.

The more powerful and burning-a-hole-through-the-Earth-worthy, the more charge-up time (visible by way of his gills and dorsal spikes lighting up) needed. With increasing power, the stream's "exit" from his mouth will creating a larger and brighter flash, akin to that of the mushroom cloud of a nuclear weapon's detonation. Think about it. When we see his stream of plasma encased in a radioactive stabilizing field come out, it looks like there's gonna be a mini-nuclear-explosion coming out.

Anyways, those are my ideas.

Well to start off, no personal offense intended. I only brought it up because it was germaine to the thread discussion, not because I want to start an internet fight or anything. 

Secondarily, whether I'm wrong or not, it doesn't make me uncomfortable or cause me distress. And even if it did, that's no reason to change how you post. You shouldn't change your content or wording just because a couple guys don't 100% buy into it. God knows I wouldn't start making my posts shorter just because some yahoo or two said so.

As far as the facebook thing: Yeah I wouldn't expect you to link anything. I don't think either of us are asking for proof. Or at least I know I'm not. It's just not relevant. The content of the post is what should matter....not the gender of the person posting it. And even if we were asking for proof, you don't owe us anything. I sure as hell wouldn't link my social media information if pressed for it, so yeah, there is no reasonable expectation for you to do the same.

So yeah, for me, it doesn't really change anything regardless of your actual gender. I only shared my thoughts here because it was the point of this particular thread. Anyways, yeah, if I'm right, I'm right....If I'm wrong, don't hate me lol.....I guess it doesn't strongly matter to me, so it shouldn't strongly influence your posts.

I honestly don't know what the point would be, but I've seen people do it before. Quite a lot actually. Best example that comes immediately to mind is the Starcraft 2 forums. Several Starcraft 2 players run Twitch streams, showing off their gameplay. There are even a few girls who regularly stream their games on Twitch. Those women are obviously female, no questions asked.

However, when you visit the forums, every month there are probably a dozen threads or more each created by a different account each saying "Hey check out my Twitch Stream!!!" with links to these girl's streams. If it was the same account every time I'd buy it, but it's always different people. Like all these guys are wanting credit or trying to impersonate the female streamers.....for no reason that I can discern other than they can I guess.

This is not something that happens with the male streamers. If the forums want to direct people to a guys stream, they say "Hey 'SoInSo' is online, check him out here".....not "Hey, Check Out My Stream" like what seems to always pop up for the girls. Well some guys post "Hey, Check Out My Stream" but it's always the same account linking the same stream, instead of multiple accounts linking to the one stream.

So yeah, in summary, just because there isn't really a point, doesn't mean that it isn't done.

I can see it now: The dynamic duo. Godzilla and Anguiurs prepare to battle an unknown enemy. The smoke clears and the enemyis revealed as a Female Godzilla. The two Godzillas stare at each other in one of those Love at first Sight moments. Godzilla tell Anguirus to go home. Anguiurs argues that Godzilla needs a wing man. Godzilla replies that he would have brought Rodan for that. Anguirus leaves, listening to Godzilla's pick up lines in the distance. I would go on, but then it would be a fan-fiction. I'm already typing one right now. Not sure if I will post it at all.

I think Godzilla is male in my opinion. I think a female of the Godzilla species would be larger and more aggresive. Plus Godzilla is the "King of the Monsters." If Godzilla were female, then Godzilla would be "Queen of the Monsters." I am very open to the idea of a female Godzilla. But I think the conceptof it would be introduced in a situation where Godzilla discovers a female of his species while destroying tokyo and begins to issue mating calls. Resulting in Godzilla no longer being so lonely, and Minilla/Little Godzilla/Godzilla Jr. (what ever incarnation or name for his son) gaining younger siblings to look after. But that is my opinion.

I think his breath will look like smoke and will cause immediate death if directly contacted, or delayed death or radiation sickness if inhaled.  I don't believe it will ignite supercharged explosions like we have seen in the past.  Also, I think two things will happen upon usage: (1) all atomic energy will be absorbed from the area (so cell-phones etc will discontinue to work). (2) it will disrupt all technology on contact, therefore planes and ships will cease to operate (which may explain why the planes are falling from the sky in the trailers).  The most important things about his breath is his ability to use it and that his back lights up when he does.

Perhaps the color may be different. Maybe it will sound different. Who knows. I just hope it as every bit powerful in the previous movies and it is true to the Godzilla character.

I actually have no problem with Godzilla being female as I'm kind of apathetic to what gender the King is, being female could very much attribute it more directly to nature itself, as we call her "Mother Earth" (Implying that perhaps Godzilla could be literal nature itself?). Though he is the world's protector (Excluding mankind) and in the animal kingdom it is usually males who display dominance and protective stances for his territory.

However those are creatures of today, who knows, perhaps the side was flipped during the prehistoric days and females were the dominant of the gender.

I would like to think that Godzilla can be whatever gender a viewer likes to interpret it, after all, he or she is only a metaphor for us, so if being female gives more impact I don’t see why that’s wrong to believe. I fully support the idea. :)

Though if the discussion is about whether or not Godzilla is actually female, we shouldn’t look too further, since the canon Japanese have always called him by he. And I respect the creators Word of God.

I personally would stick with a male side since I'm accustomed to seeing Godzilla as an almost literal King and toughest warrior around, but that's just how I view him. However him being female is actually the more interesting viewpoint.

PS: I’m a sucker for tough female characters.

Welll, uh, ok you bring up a god point. Godzilla could be a female but I think when godzilla was labled as a male when toho made Son of Godzilla. Also godzilla is from japan and in japan female character's in some tv shows usally get the short end of the stick usally having no power or they die when they do. So I would so godzilla is labled as male just based of the heritage from which he's in real life rather then in universe explation.

Wow! The thought behind this film is incredible.. I'm so excited for every aspect of it. At first I was like "Oh no, it's going to be human drama" but then more trailers started dropping and now.. just wow I can't wait

In All Star Superman he essentially become a living sun, so I'm going to go with superman in this by a longshot.

Why is any1 questioning if some1 is lying about their gender? This is a message board it's not like any1 would gain anything by lying. I could see if this was an MMO which is unfortunately known for supposed females getting perks from other players, but in this scenario there's no point. 

As for the thread question, no not a girl, and never even mentioned my love for godzilla to any girl I've dated much less tried to get her interested so don't know any female gfans besides the ones on this site.

An early screening will occurr in April 11 so maybe, you can start seeing the first official  reviews the day after (look up at IGN and Empire magazine website as they usually are the first ones).
