G. H. (Gman): Thanks for the info. Always appreciated if the composer make references to the culture that created Godzilla.

KaijuciferGodzilla (Toho) NewsThe best Godzilla games to play

All of these are garbage. The first one isn't even a game. Slot Machines only available to people of Gambling age. General Consensus is that PS4 game is repetitive, and city Shrouded in Shadow isn't a good game by any means. Disaster Report spiritual successor or not.

Honestly, there are only 2 actually good games in the franchise. Godzilla: Save The Earth and Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee.

I would not waste the time or money on these. Heck, you can't even get Strike Zone anymore. Just steer clear and we will wait for a new Good Godzilla game to be developed!

PS. Sorry if this is abrasive sounding.

TheGMan123,
That's what I mean. Whatever renditions of Ifukube's material McCreary could offer would be more welcome than an end credits song.

And it's likely Toho will have some screens showing the film subtitled, thus releasing the English language trailers. They've done that for years.

Godzillatheking123,
The chanting is coming from taiko drummers--An ancient form of Japanese percussion using massive drums. They're very performance based. McCreary decided to use them to keep the Japanese feel of the music. Here's an example of them doing some light chanting with their drumming (though not nearly as chant oriented as the Godzilla soundtrack):

You mean simply using stock music? Toho's done that for years, even in the Heisei movies Ifukube didn't score. Why wouldn't we want NEW renditions of his theme?

G. H. (Gman) I think he meant something like what Shin Godzilla did to the original theme. And honestly, I feel the same way as he does.

Well, can't always just do straight remakes.

Bear McCreary has a talent for making epic soundtracks in general, and I think he's more than earned standing with Ifukube renditions through his record of OSTs as is, let alone what he's gonna make for this film.

As for the TOHO trailers, why'd they give both the English and Japanese dubs?

Also, there seem to be almost like Buddhist monk chanting in there? What does that say about the plot? Linking it to the "temple" of Godzilla?

A Godzilla film never feels entirely complete without the Akira Ifukube's score.

Rodan is a highly revered film that I tend to praise less than most. I think Tsuburaya's work is incredible and his Rodan remains the best design for the monster 63 years later.

But Honda's portion of the movie lacks the dramatic punch and character focus that Godzilla '54 and even The Mysterians had. I like that he tried to focus on PTSD, and Kenji Sahara certainly sells it. But Sahara's absence through much of the film makes me question who the main character is--Instead of studying what he's going through, he's simply missing through much of the run time.

The movie was ambitious, and it's certainly beautiful, but it's a prelude to how Tsuburaya's direction would eventually overshadow Honda's drama.

If that turns out to be the creature in the sand... it's not very original in my opinion. A scorpion would be a better fit for this movie... but a giant insect... well... we already have mothra.  Ticks too... have 8 legs.

RR44Godzilla ForumSpider or Scorpion In King of the Monsters

To the one who says it's a spider... 6 legs does not a spider make. If it were a spider... it would have 8 legs for certain. I have seen that "spoiler pic" when it first was shown on a youtube channel. It could very well be the creature in the sand... but it's no spider. The one on Skull Island had 8 legs. This is an insect if it has 6 legs... not an arachnid, which has 8 legs.

So far... all anyone has seen is legs coming out of the ground... how many... hard to tell for sure... and as for a body shot... we have yet to see that.

People thought the drawings of spider like creatures that were alleged to be in the 2014 movie... were not spiders at all... and we know that those drawings were speculative at best... but as we found out... they did not resemble the MUTOs at all in that movie.

The drawing here that you've shown... looks very similar to the ones that were shown prior to the 2014 movie.

It remains to be seen and take that drawing with a grain of salt.

Review of Rodan 1956: Rodan is a pretty good movie and I think I have more positive things to say about it than negative, so let’s just get those out of the way real quick. The characters are all kinda meh, they really don’t spend time developing them much in my opinion. The romance is better than Godzilla Raids Again but still lacks a lot of needed chemistry in my opinion, but hey, I’m not a good judge of romances, so take that with a grain of salt. Another complaint is the end of the final act. Like Godzilla Raids Again, they spend to much time showing them blow up the mountain, but I think that is just a minor complaint. This film does have a lot going for it. The pacing is fantastic, and there are some clever twists like the giant insects and the reveal of the mate. While a lot of the dub actors fall flat (I only have the dub), the main voice actor is pretty good in my opinion. They did good building suspense and the Rodans themselves look sorta menacing and majestic. Once again the destruction scenes and models are top notch. It was interesting to see a different kind of destruction of wind and hurricane than Godzilla’s stomp and burn technique. The ending is a bittersweet and moving one. You would expect the surviving Rodan to leave the other to her doom, since animals run primarily on instinct, but instead he decides to die with her. I think another message besides more anti-nuclear themes is that, would you be able to sacrifice yourself? Would you be willing to put another life above your own? It’s a scary question to ask, since we all do things we didn’t think we would do in the heat of the moment. All in All a good film, 4/5.

Feel free to give your opinion of this film as well as the previous ones. You can also feel free to give your thoughts/commentary on my reviews so far.

I had my doubts about what McCreary could do, after all I loved the work of Alexandre Desplat in the first one. But this, got me goosebumps!

I'm just going to put it out there that I know which one it is.

SPOILERS AHEAD

It's a spider, but it only has six legs. It also has tentacles coming from it's mouth sort of like Cthulhu.

This picture was drawn by a person who works at toho and has seen a finished cut of the movie.

I had no doubt that the Music Composer for God of War 4 would do the soundtrack justice but this blew me away.
