This doesn't have much to do with it, but I'm VERY ECSTATIC about the new Breaking Benjamin album Aurora! IT'S FINALLY OUT!
Ok, here's an actual suggestion: Radioactive. I'm not a huge fan of it, but it fits the kaiju theme. Idk, it's a dumb choice but whatever.

I always thought there was some emotional pull to both Godzilla and King Kong movies for the creatures- especially Godzilla when he seemed to be beat and about to die. The movie should stick with that formula but maybe turn the tables somehow to pull at peoples emotions even more. Not sure how though. As long as it's a good story with good characters to develop it, it should be at least as good as the last two movies. Good enough for me.
Titan of Water,
Haha. I think that's splitting hairs--You could probably say the same for Solo. The point is Powell's animated film output has been much stronger than his live-action film scores. It's perhaps not always his fault, as producers and directors tend to have a little more control over these things when it comes to action blockbusters, but I still trust Powell more with animated movies.
I dunno about you, but I plan on, y'know, actually seeing the thing in its finished form before I think about writing it off.
Well, the rise of CGI has made Godzilla films at least 25% to 100% animation.
Have been a Godzilla fan for as long as I can remember! Thank you for welcoming me to the group. I love classic and vintage sci-fi and horror movies with Godzilla and likewise other giant monsters being my favorite.
The only tears it will get are tears of dread that this piece of shit actually got made and released.
GojiJonesy91,
Agreed on his Rambo scores--I wasn't even thinking about those when I wrote that, but he did an excellent job picking up Goldsmith's mantle.
And while Alien vs. Predator: Requiem was anything but great, it's yet another example of Tyler giving his all. He once said he scores every movie he's given like it's the greatest movie ever made--Bless him for trying so hard to elevate garbage like AVP:R, Dragon Ball: Evolution and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I'll probably never want to watch any of those films again, but I'll listen to their scores all day and night.
Tyler also had his hands in a big budget version of a tokusatsu adaptation--His work for 2017's Power Rangers was one of my favorite scores from that year. He could have easily gone the "superhero" route with that, but wrote a very poignant, emotional main theme instead. What a force.
Titan of Water,
I like John Powell, though I think his material for animated movies is almost always better than his live action output. If he's allowed to let loose, like his incredible work on How to Train Your Dragon, then I think he'd be great. But if we just get Solo: A Star Wars Story or his Bourne scores, I wouldn't be too excited.
Well my ideal Monsterverse in general would have a darker and deeper tone.
@G.H.(Gman)
I second Brian Tyler. His Rambo scores are very close to what Goldsmith did while still throwing in his own flair and I was a big fan of his Marvel scores for the few he did. (Heroes from Age of Ultron should have figured in the last few films in my opinion) One of my favorite albums of his from an unremarkable movie is his AVP-Requiem score. Let’s not forget he also did the revamped edition of the Universal fanfare that I believe Goldsmith pioneered.
Ms Guðnadóttir might definitely be an inspired choice if they were aiming for a deeper piece closer to Gojira but i agree that it would be unlike any score we’ve heard for a monster movie.
I also toss in a hat for Ramin Djawadi.
@Monster_Zero 2112 Dude, I love Rush!!
How would you feel about John Powell?
Ok! Thanks for your input, guys.
Well some of those are some of my favorite movies in the series like Monster Zero and Godzilla vs the Sea Monster. You also have the 2 worst though imo in Godzilla's Revenge and Godzilla vs Hedorah, with the latter being so bad I didn't even rewatch it when I marathoned the movies before KOTM.
I've been meaning to give Godzilla x Megaguirus another go. I recall the last few times I sat through it, the experience didn't go well. It's been a bottom-of-the-barrel movie for me for awhile, but some scenes have stuck out in my mind calling me to revisit it.
Hopefully I'll put it on in the next couple of months, but I still have a lot of Ultraman to wade through.
Brian Tyler would be my choice. In fact I was championing him for the 2019 movie for years--Though I wouldn't have guessed how perfect McCreary was.
To me, Tyler is the closest we'll get to a modern day Jerry Goldsmith. (If I could bring anyone back from the dead, it might be Goldsmith.) Brian Tyler has a penchant for truly memorable themes and creating some outstanding variants.
As for Hildur Guðnadóttir, she'd probably create one of the most unique scores in the series, if not very heavy with reoccurring motifs. (Which is normally a must with me, especially for blockbusters.) She's had a hand in sci-fi with Arrival, which branched her into slightly more relevant territory to this conversation. So I have no doubt it would be a great score if given the chance.
I haven't seen Kung Fu Panda in a long time.
Yes, they took the song from Carl Douglas for the credits. John Powell did Chinese-esque music for the scenes in the movie.
Same song. Just with a different person.
For once, I agree with Gmkgoji.
No that’s Carl Douglas.
Kung-Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon.
What's Kfp and HTTYD?
Another one I’d really like to see is John Powell. He’s able to make music from a variety of different cultures. You need to listen to the Kfp soundtracks and the HTTYD soundtracks if you never heard him.
The realist To be fair, as a Transformers fan I can confidently say that making a recolor/remold of an existing figure to save money (even though the character has a lot of differences) is not so uncommon as you think.
WHAAAAA? My choice is UNORIGINAL?!
From original, to completely unoriginal...

What I think Mechagodzilla should look like in GvK.
the gif is from the movie "Ready Player One" which is, in my opinion, the greatest book AND movie ever made. https://www.imdb.com/videoplayer/vi2821765401?ref_=ttvi_vi_imdb_4.
The song at the end is called"Tom Sawyer"by Rush, released on their album"Moving Pictures" on February 12, 1981.

I think it was that incident that convinced Emma that humans are the real monsters. :)

Based on the leaked toy images, MG will not look nearly this cool.
I actually have SFX's edition for Kong:Skull Island.
JOHN WILLIAMS!! I loved the "THE IMPERIAL MARCH".
My signature.
I love it! The addition of the rocket elbow's makes a lot of sense and the inclusion of how it's atomic breath would work is a nice touch.
I also recently came across this awesome piece of art by eatalllot which has more of a literal "Battleship with legs" feal to it.

They thought his Blair Witch movie was bracingly different? Jesus, Book of Shadows brought more to the table than his movie did.
That is one of the most original choices for a composer to any of these films I've read. Ever. I'll have to marinate on this one. I certainly don't think it's a bad choice.
