Adam Wingard: Godzilla vs. Kong wants your tears! New preview featured in SFX Magazine!

A preview for Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures' Godzilla vs. Kong (2020) was featured in the latest issue of SFX magazine! Now although the feature is rather small, barely spanning a full page spread, it does feature some new words from director Adam Wingard.

In the short preview, Adam Wingard is quoted by saying Godzilla vs. Kong will include "lots of Monsters going crazy at each other" (as expected) but also adds that his goal with GvK is to have an emotional drive behind it. He insinuates some tear-jerking moments by adding that "the fourth entry in the Monsterverse wants your tears" as the main cast face the end of life on Earth:

What we learn by these quotes is unlike at the end of King of the Monsters where the awoken Titans seem to bow to Godzilla, stopping their onslaught on Humanity, these Monsters are now going crazy at each other. Why? We have our theories.. but for the sake of avoiding spoilers, we'll leave the speculating to you in the comments!

The official release date for Godzilla vs. Kong is slated for November 20th, 2020!

Thanks to Gormaru Island for the scan!

I remember hearing this before. I hope this supposed emotional pull is as big as they're making it sound.

Yeah, here's hoping they dont try and force us to care about characters they dont even try to develop. My one fear for this movie is that it won't deliver a good story with strong character development. If they want us to care about the monsters, they have to develop that too.

They thought his Blair Witch movie was bracingly different? Jesus, Book of Shadows brought more to the table than his movie did.

I dunno about you, but I plan on, y'know, actually seeing the thing in its finished form before I think about writing it off.

I always thought there was some emotional pull to both Godzilla and King Kong movies for the creatures- especially Godzilla when he seemed to be beat and about to die. The movie should stick with that formula but maybe turn the tables somehow to pull at peoples emotions even more. Not sure how though. As long as it's a good story with good characters to develop it, it should be at least as good as the last two movies. Good enough for me.
