Toho have introduced a new Mechagodzilla design for 2025! Designed by Godzilla Minus One director Takashi Yamazaki - this new Mechagodzilla features a more classic aesthetic, sharing many design elements with its biological counterpart for which its based on. This article covers information about what we know so far about Toho's new Mechagodzilla and if it will ever make its film debut.
What is the new Mechagodzilla called?
The Takashi Yamazaki-designed Mechagodzilla was given the nickname: Mechagodzilla Zero-Type Machine Beast G-Breaker. The name has also been abbreviated to 0-Type G Breaker for short.
Will the new G Breaker Mechagodzilla feature in the Godzilla Minus One sequel?
While Takashi Yamazaki directed Godzilla Minus One and is directing the sequel film - there has been no indication that the Minus One sequel will feature Mechagodzilla. This Mechagodzilla was designed and introduced for the new Godzilla Ride attraction in Japan. That being said, while currently very little is known about which additional Monster(s) will feature in the upcoming sequel - it is possible Mechagodzilla could be included and it's being kept secret for now.
What special abilities does the new Mechagodzilla have?
With little footage to go by from the Godzilla Ride in Japan, we can see that the 0-Type G Breaker Mechagodzilla features a green-hue "power up" and energy / beam weapon - much like Godzilla's atomic ray. It also features robust thrusters which help it maneuver around. Glowing yellow accents don't seem to indicate any additional abilities - but more so just aesthetic characteristics.
How big is the G Breaker Mechagodzilla?
Official specs on the height and weight of this new Mechagodzilla have yet to be revealed - however if its relationship to the Minus One Goji are any indicator (assuming Godzilla's size did not change since the first film), that would place this Mechagodzilla around 50 meters tall - likely weighing in excess of 20,000 tons. These numbers are speculative, however.
As new information becomes available about the new 0-Type G Breaker Mechagodzilla, this article will continue to be updated with the most current and up-to-date information.
