Both creative, yet both vastly flawed. I have a stronger emotional and nostalgic connection with [i]Godzilla vs. Destroyah[/i], so I'll go with that. I think its story was more focused than [i]Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah[/i] which had some confusing time travel logic.

This is an interesting question because I feel like it needs to be asked by the decade. I mean, is it really fair to compare the Millennium movies with the 60s films? Furthermore, if Eiji Tsuburaya were still alive I have a feeling the special effects would be even better than what we've seen in the series so far. For craft, effort and overall polish of previous techniques I think [i]Mothra vs. Godzilla[/i] had some of the best effects in the series. As far as the modern look goes, [i]Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah[/i] is probably the best-- easily the best of the millennium series anyway. For animatronic technique goes, [i]Godzilla vs. Biollante[/i] is probably pretty high up there as well. I'd vote that the best of the Heisei series at least. It's a hard question to answer. I'd probably need to think about it more and answer by the decade.

GMK, I think. I just enjoyed Godzilla's appearance and how was much more natural, like an animal, than any other Godzilla.

seeing the 1998 movie sorry that was the first I had heard of him sorry I loved the movie I watch it every time it comes on it was the first godzilla movie i saw. It took me a few months to find out that was Zilla or G.I.N.O. sorry thats how it happened!

As a life long Godzilla fan, and with all respect to Blue Oyster Cult, my mind and mood is always set to the music used in "Godzilla 1985" and "Godzilla vs. Gigan". No matter what other G-movie I'm watching, that music just sets my heart racing and ready for the blue fire and fight scenes that made me forget that this was sci-fi and that there were people in costumes. I humbly suggest looking up those movies, listen to the music, and really hear what Ifukube was transmitting.

Well I'll generally be amped for the release date....is my birthday! But I will also release the sequel to my Agents of KAIJU story as a tribute.

I think a remake of King Kong vs. Godzilla would be impressive so long as they used actual people in the costumes and only used CGI for the extra dynamic action scenes, like Kong throwing Godzilla over his shoulder and down on the ground, or going over the shoulder and throwing Godzilla far across the landscape. If King Kong can handle 2 T-Rex's, I'm sure he can hold his own against the King of Monsters.

mine would be Agents of KAIJU taking place 3 yrs after the Pavific Rim events the aliens arrive in person to exterminate the Earth in person. Theysend the kaiju's down to destroy Earth and with the Jeagers not yet ready they send Godzilla, Gamera, Clover, Ultraman, and King Kong to stop them. KAIJU stand for Kick Ass Intrenational Justice United....I actually aleady did the story....

While I think Godzilla vs King Ghidorah's fight was more awesome (not to mention that awesome reveal of the larger Godzilla post-time skip), I think overall Godzilla vs Destroyah had a bigger emotional impact on me.

I liked dinosaurs as a kid so when Godzilla vs Gigan rolled around my brain exploded. Giant monsters, destroying buildings, fighting each other, evil aliens, beam breath like a dragon! Came from the ocean. Boom! Instantly hooked as a kid.

Gojira. I actually didn't see it until two years ago, and it's just devastating, otherwise it flip flops between Godzilla 84 and Godzilla vs Biollante.

1. Godzilla vs. Biollante suit, sleak but muscular and menacing 2. GMK suit - those eyes, awesome idea, he was a bit fat in the legs though. 3. 1984 - it was a return to a more menacing looking Godzilla 4. Soshingeki (Destroy all Monsters/ Gigan suit) - first introduced to Godzilla via Gigan I wish it didn't have a wobbly upper lip because I think the Mosugoji was really menacing looking too, but then he would move and it would just be dough-boy time with the face.

I'm also kind of in the group of people that think this will be a miss for Legendary and that it'll be mostly current fans who go see the movies as it is mostly only genre fans who went to see Pacific Rim. And with Pacific Rim coming out and underperforming this means unfortunately it will also hurt Godzilla 2014 even if the team super markets the film. Because people will just think oh... another Pacific Rim even though Godzilla was a predecessor.

Agree with Gman2887. Hopefully the movie's tone is such that the blue oyster cult song is not used.

1. I agree. Supernatural and psychic stuff should be left to the wayside. 2. I'm more willing to buy aliens if kaiju exist anyway so I wouldn't be so strict about this one, myself. 3. I don't think they'd do it anyway, but in agreement again. Super techie weaponry wouldn't make sense at least until the second movie and if there were a giant mecha created it just wouldn't make sense (despite most of tokusatsu shows saying otherwise, having a giant robot fight a kaiju is not very practical financially or even in terms of effectiveness -- see Pacific Rim [loved the movie but those jaegers got ripped to shreds]). I think using current weaponry and having it prove simply ineffective is a great way to drum up the dramatic tension. Also in agreement with others. I would prefer no child actors taking a main role in the overall scheme of the movie. Although I can see it maybe happening a little bit if for nothing other than toy sales for kids.

While I'm one of the few in my circle of Godzilla fans to like Godzilla vs Hedorah, I wouldn't want Deathla or any incarnation of Hedorah to be in the american Godzilla movie. I think it's too obscure of a villain to work. It would definitely work in connection to the atomic representation of Godzilla and how we humans kind of treat the earth and science in general but it would just be too weird I think in the first movie to have him fight anything other than a creature of similar origin/ qualities.

I am actually going to say that the only film that is really misunderstood is Gojira and Godzilla King of Monsters. This makes me glad that a new Godzilla movie is coming out and that verbatim almost ad nausea the actors have stated that it's going back to the original and while making it current as well. Now, how are they misunderstood? Many people, especially now a days when they think of giant monster movies think more of the campy Godzilla and Gamera movies and not the original. I'm willing to be most people don't even know about the original or it's message and darker themes. And people are so many times removed now that if they were introduced to Gojira or Godzilla King of Monsters, they just see another campy man-in-suit movie. They write it off, if for nothing other than it's pre-conceived notion of campiness and aged special effects. Why do I include Godzilla King of Monsters? While it can be said that it may well be to blame for people misunderstanding/ mistaking it for Gojira and undercutting the darker nature of Gojira, it can still loosely be taken as an allegory for the atomic bomb or even just natural disasters. It's not as potent, but I'd argue the same issue applies to Godzilla King of Monsters because of the later, campier installments in the series. You could say other movies like Godzilla's Revenge are misunderstood but I think people rightfully dismiss the movie, but not so much as them saying it's a bad movie about an estranged child but more so because of the stock footage. I personally don't care that it happened so soon after DAM. If they wanted to make the movie they should've waited until the time was right instead of piece-mealing a movie together. I'd be more forgiving if it was simply a TV special for kids, but it was an actual movie. And if a marvel super hero came out that was piece-mealed from older footage because the Avengers cost too much, and it was at the theaters, I'd bet there would be riots, flaming troll-catapulted riots online at the least. I'd argue GINO isn't so much misunderstood as it is reviled for not being the Godzilla we know and love. I think us fans understand for the most part that it was their interpretation of Godzilla and we just said "no". Son of Godzilla... is a bit weird, just because it can bring up an uncomfortable session of explaining where babies come from with your young one. But misunderstood? Neh. Godzilla vs the Sea Monster? I think we're mistaking less popular with the term misunderstood.

The Godzilla: Final Wars design is the scariest and most badass looking one! I'm too excited for the new one!

Godzilla: Final Wars had the best special effects for a Godzilla movie. The spaceship, all of the monsters, the explosions, the action, the mini spaceships and Godzilla's atomic breathe all looked amazing for a Godzilla movie and for a Japanese movie

I prefer the blue atomic ray, but I can handle it being changed to red like it was in G 2000 and G vs Megaguirus. But I definitely DO NOT want it to be straight fire.

There's a lot of misunderstood Godzilla films, and I'm not gonna sugar coat what I think is most misunderstood, Godzilla (1998). I can see that I'm not the only one who says it, but not really an explanation was given why. Well I may have the answer to how it's misunderstood. Now let's get this clear, I don't entirely like the '98 remake, but I do enjoy it as a movie of it's own. Godzilla '98 was clearly not Godzilla, Emmerich Rolland really did butchered the name badly, but here's a thought, other than having the rights to call the film by its name, what was the OTHER reason the creature received the name "Godzilla?" Remember around the beginning of the film where the French found one Japanese survivor? The question that Phillipe asked, "What did you see, old man?" And what did the old man reply while looking at the flame of the lighter? "Gojira." The old man who survived the attack I.D.-ed the creature as Gojira. Too be fair when you're on a giant cargo ship traveling in bad weather at night, you can barely see a thing, but you're able to see something that reminds you of something you know then it's quite possible you'll probably assume that's what you seen. I mean think about it, Japanese fishing ship, sonar picking up something large, giant teeth, a long tail, even I would think I'd saw Godzilla at first. Though since this was the only time the old man saw the creature, Godzilla is all the French had to go with and same goes for the Americans. The only American who could of spoken against the name would of been Raymond Burr, or should I say Steve Martin who experienced the first and original attack of Godzilla. Though as of now the creature is no longer Godzilla, rather Zilla just because it has some slight similarities, and because Toho said so. And I'm fine with that but really it's misunderstood not just because Emmerich Rolland and his crew called it by the title, but also because of that Japanese sailor who I.D.-ed the creature as Godzilla in the first place.

I have to say Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack might of been the best in special effects. I mean there are a lot of films that have good effects already like Vs. Biollante and Godzilla 2000. But GMK is like putting everything Toho had in their arsenal and just go BOOM with it. Final Wars did that, but not enough in special effects wise. Sure lasers everywhere, kung fu fighting, Aliens, wires, transformation. But there's one thing GMK did that Final Wars didn't, you not only saw Godzilla being Godzilla, but the casualties he takes when he's on land and destroying buildings. For example, the first time Godzilla attack was when he steps on a small house, the people you see in the house were all joking about Godzilla and saying how cool it be if he was a pet, but then earthquake appears, lady looks out window, screams, zoom-out, and BAM Godzilla steps on the house. And it's not the only time you see people getting injured or killed by Godzilla like that, let alone by the other monsters. It's something you don't see a lot in the films, you know people get hurt and killed but you never think how or when (unless it involves the army vehicles).

For Me: 1- His Iconic Atomic Breath 2- Indestructibility 3- The Feeling of revenge, anger, and sadness for what humanity did to him.

Not counting the Godzilla Cameo in Always Sunset on 3rd Street 2, it's no doubt Godzilla Final Wars. The CGI was amazing for a Godzilla movie. The transformation of Monster X to Ghidorah was epic and Zilla, as stupid as he is, looked pretty good for Toho Standards. The monsters looked good as always and the sets were decent (though sometimes the miniatures looked poor).

I would have to say Godzilla vs Gigan. It was a film that was changing the Godzilla films from kid friendly to mature with the blood and swearing and all that stuff. I welcomed that change.

damn that is tough there is a couple i can name godzilla's revenge godzilla 1998 aka zilla godzilla vs the smog monster but final wars may have been cheesy but i kinda of liked it it reminded me almost alot of DAM or DESTROY ALL MONSTERS

Not really a movie, but I feel that the Godzilla Animated Series (the US one that continues the story of the crappy remake) is pretty misunderstood. People hate it cause it isn't the original Godzilla, but the show has a good plot with more three dimensional characters rather than the cardboard cut outs Emmerich put in his movie as well as the badass Zilla Jr. While he isn't Godzilla, he is worthy of the title cause even though he doesn't look like Godzilla, I think he looks pretty cool with a more streamline design. The show gave him atomic breath and monsters to fight, which Zilla Jr. dominates. The monsters he fights can range from badass (Cyber-Zilla, or Cyber-Godzilla as they call him) to just being stupid (Giant bat). Though the show has a few flaws, the Series deserves more than people give it and is a worthy show to be with Godzilla franchise itself.
