Godzillasaurus you got a point what if the kids get,s too scard if the movie show,s dead people or blood maybe the kids will run out the movie theater and say i dont like this movie get me out of here so i think the one,s who can watch it is 13,s and 18,s or 17s
It will be PG-13... I have no doubt about that
Oh yea, and Godzilla isn't FOR kids, Gman, he is just a character who STARTED OFF AS A NUCLEAR MENACE IN A MOVIE THAT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE FOR KIDS. This movies is most definitely NOT going to be for kids. Kids will still see it, but it is still going to be a dark movie whose intended audience is, fundamentally, adults.
If this was a movie about a humanoid frog bouncing up and down teaming up with power rangers and fighting monsters made out of garbage, then maybe I would say otherwise.
And to the guy above me, that is not what kids would say at all about this movie... Most kids aren't going to be surfing the web every day searching for movie news and talking on forums about it, so those "reactions" are unrealistic.
I still dont no if old people could watch the movie too :/
Gman your kinda right but i no the movie is not going too be that scary like it doesn,t matter if the movie is dark and horror it,s about how people like the movie and yes i no there will be lots of kids there too see godzilla here,s an example
OMG IT,S GODZILLA!!! XD
OMG I CANT WAIT TOO SEE HIM IN 3D IM NOT EVEN GO TOO PEE ME PANTS XD
I CANT WAIT TOO SEE GODZILLAL,S ENEMY
WEEEHOOOO GODZILLA!
that is an example of kids getting exited about The new Godzilla film and also
im not going too be super hyper about the relase of the new movie just like what i did for of
an example of a kid getting super hyped about the movie
I'm pretty sure kids will see this in theaters anyway, xxSaber. It will be PG-13 and kids will still see it. Case in point (for the third time): The Dark Knight. It was dark and realistic as well, but kids still saw and there was enough toys for those kids in every store in America.
The point is, something that is "dark and realistic" doesn't depend on blood, violence and gore. It depends on the way the story is written: Like The Dark Knight or the theatrical cut of The Wolverine, or Man of Steel...etc...etc... All of these movies were, the overused term, "dark and realistic" but they didn't have to be overtly violent to do so and they still appealed to children as well. Godzilla will most likely be no different.
As for a director's cut-- that depends on the director, the studio and the demand for such a thing. At this stage it's impossible to tell, but unlikely I would think.
I didnt see a leg at all just saw smoke and fire
All i no that when Godzilla 2014 movie comes out there will be some much people linding up for the movie and i checked on Rotten tomatoes the place where they rank the movies there was 99 people who wanted too see it boy i guess everyone wanted the king of monsters return and im gussing that lots of 13 year olds and teens will be there so yea it,s not going too be PG 13 and Gman dont worry about kids not watching the movie there will be DvD,s for the movie and the kids will be wanting for it
I understand, but I still don't see much of a point to it at this stage. If we hear a lot of stuff was laid on the cutting room floor, then maybe. But even movies that have done a great job of being "dark and realistic" don't exactly need or have a director's cut. (Again, look at The Dark Knight.) And personally, I hope there is no concious effort, or cut, that involves a lot of blood, violence...etc... That's never been what the Godzilla series is about and it would be a shame to include that stuff now.
This brings to mind the extended version of The Wolverine. I recently got the chance to watch that cut and can honestly say that the added gore, violence and profanity does absolutely nothing to help the movie's feel or story. In fact it just seems like a trashy and immature attempt to make things more "adult". The end result is quite tacky and I prefere the theatrical cut. It's rare that I find director's cuts better. There are exceptions though...
Lol Gman XD but i do got i point the movie is not for kids maybe for teens and 13 year olds
Gman, that first comment after yours was for xxsaber. xD Not for you.
Gman, I'm just saying that it would add a very realistic feel, something that they're going for. I'm just saying that when the movie comes out on bluray or something, I'd be completely in favor of seeing a Director's Cut (if there is one). I'm not saying make the theatrical release rated R, but maybe release a "director's cut" along with the theatrical version. This isn't all that uncommon with movies.
Recap: because I don't think I made much sense
Godzilla releases into theaters as a PG13 movie. When the movie gets released on Bluray, DVD, and digital download sites (iTunes and Amazon), they could release both Theatrical Release and a Director's cut (for those that would be interested in that)
I already said I'd put my entire life's earnings on a PG-13 rating and that's what I'm sticking with. PG-13 is the perfect marketing rating for summer blockbusters. It convinces audiences that it's "mature enough" for the older demograph and allows children the chance to see it as well. Like you said, it invites a broader audience, which is key here.
hes always been king of the monsters. i dont really think he needs a title change
So what do you think the rating is going to be? PG-13 isn't necessarily for kids, but it allows for more of a broader audience.
This is a goofy question at this point. We haven't even seen the film yet and know nothing of what's been cut from the film-- for all we know the movie won't need a director's cut.
As for the rating I would put down my entire life's earnings it will be PG-13. An R rating would limit the audience intake and, like it or not, Godzilla's for kids too. Besides an R rating does not mean a better movie or even a darker movie. Gore and violence are just cheap shots used in horror films to get a reaction out of people. I would hope the new Godzilla movie doesn't rely on that.
Christopher Nolan's Memento and Insomnia were R rated, but The Dark Knight movies were very dark films with PG-13 ratings. It's proof you don't have to show graphic scenes or include an R rating to be a dark movie. Godzilla will most likely be similar.
And also im pretty sure There will be no Director,s cut
I think it,s not going too be PG 13 because the movie is kinda going too be a horror movie like think about a 5 year old who is a G Fan And when he see,s like idk dead body,s he,s going too get scard so i think the movie is going too be for 13,s or teens but not PG 13 because Edwards said his Godzilla movie will be more realistic and serious
Oh, you added more for me to read. thank you. lol
The exact length? What if it's a second or two short or long? Then does that make him an unreliable source?
Urban Collector is a toy business. What business do they have with knowledge of when a trailer is going to be released? (working my way upwards, so I can reply faster)
Didn't this guy also say that his source was Urban Collector, the toy company?
I'm not saying that the trailer won't be in front of the Hobbit, because more than likely it will. Hell, that's what I predicted in early september (I don't think I publicly announced that prediction until some time in late september or early october, on youtube). I knew it wasn't going to be released on November 3rd, as much as I would have liked it to.
I tried reading his posts to see the divinity of truth in it, but it seems like he's just an average movie goer.
I'm not saying he's a liar, or a con, I'm just saying that I'm not just going to blindly believe everything that makes its way out onto the internet. He hasn't even mentioned his source for any of this information from what I've read. Predicting a trailer release and length isn't all that hard, especially when the trailer itself has made its way onto the internet already (when giving us the length).
Again, I'm not saying this guy's a liar. I'm just saying it's a bit hard to believe some guy on the internet saying a few things when he doesn't show any shred of proof.
If you really want official proof here's some:
https://twitter.com/movie_maniac_/status/407919105589518336
He says that the Amazing Spider-man 2 trailer will be 2 minutes and 4 seconds long, and the trailer is premiering this Thursday. If the trailer turns out to be the exact length he's saying it is, then you'll know he's a reliable source.
The person who’s confirming all this has communicated with Warner Bros. and other companies in the past on their trailers, has been correct on everything he’s said so far (like how he said Interstellar will be with the Hobbit and it was officially announced a few days ago), and is very in with the movie making crowd if you check his tweets. He doesn’t just have info on Godzilla, but practically all the trailers coming out on the Hobbit; check his Twitter, he clearly communicates with the movie companies. He’s the most reliable source we have and there are other companies like Urban Collector who also confirm Godzilla’s trailer is showing up at the Hobbit. I made a seperate discussion about a week ago on this.
Check it out:

Trust me, all this info is confirmed and official. There are companies that will just never release info on their trailers like release dates and lengths. Take a look at Spider-man, they are massively advertising the hell out of that trailer, Godzilla won't be given such treatment but we WILL get a trailer within the next week.
I think it would be interesting not to see Godzilla the first time he makes an appearance. Like we know he's there, and we get a few tease shots of maybe a foot or a tail, but we don't see Godzilla in full at all. I think we should experience the horror of going through a Godzilla attack before we actually watch Godzilla destroying a city. I'd like to see several shots of people running through crowded streets, pushing and shoving each other to save their own skins, people abandoning their loved ones to save their own sorry asses (maybe a father leaves his crippled kid, or a woman shoves an elderly person on the ground while running). Maybe there's a news helicopter around, and while we don't get to see Godzilla directly, we maybe see a reflection in the pilot's visor. I'd really love to see what happens during an attack, so it's easier to comprehend what's really going on when we see Godzilla destroying a city in later segments of the movie.
Huh? We can't even confirm if the trailer confirmation is even accurate (although it's more than likely going to be in front of the hobbit, but the guy was probably just looking for a bit of publicity). So to take this person's word on how long the trailer is, is a bit too much to ask from me. Even then, I don't really care how long the trailer is.. as long as it isn't less than a minute and a half, and not too long (about 3 minutes).
xxsaber, although you're right about the fact that Hedorah will not be making an appearance in this movie, there has yet to be any confirmation on the number of monsters in the movie. While three monsters is the generally accepted guess, there could be anywhere up from 2 monsters in total. While I believe that there will be no more than three main monsters (Godzilla, eight legged muto, and winged muto), I also believe that there will be many "smaller" offspring mutos that will definitely help put the heroes in peril.
Cool! 2 minutes and 13 seconds long, wow I wonder what will be in it? Thank you very much for bringing our attention to this exciting news.
@DURP004: I remember Titanosaurus, mainly through the game he/she is in. That air blast trick is a neat one. While the visual aspect of it isn't hard, the trickier part was capturing this and the rest of its abilities.
Classic Toho Monster #13: Titanosaurus
Species: Aquatic Dinosaur
Height: 60 Meters
Abilities: Cyclone tail; extraordinary jumper; adept swimmer; releases a sonic wave from mouth
My Legendary Pictures Counterpart: Gargantuosaurus
Species: Mutated Hybrid of Crocodile/Sailfish/Squid/Blue Whale/
Height: 10 meters taller than 2014 American Godzilla
Abilities: Powerful bite; Pressurized air blast from tail; same system for air blast can be used for underwater swimming; sonic scream; powerful wind/cyclone blast
Reason for Species Choices: The Toho Titanosaurus resembled an aquatic Spinosaur with some neat traits. The only thing close enough to a Spinosaur now adays are crocodiles. A mutated version to stand upright is a good starting point. Blue whales are the loudest animals, so a mutated echolocation could be used as a stunning weapon (or at least an earfull of loud noise). Squids are like mini-rockets, the draw water in and thrust it out a funnel to propell themselve. This trait could not only allow Gargantuosaurus to swim a little better, but use a mutated form as a weapon. On land it could draw in air, pressurize it, and release it as a ppowerful wind/cyclone blast.
ANANA the trailer is going too be a new one the second trailer was just a teaser not a trailer but it,s going too be 2 mins long that,s awesome :D
OK I have cut the second leaked trailer so that there is not the speaker at the beginning. And the second leaked trailer was 2:15 long! So I think its the same trailer. But real nice! :D
The trailer for the hobbit might tell us what the second monster will look like or maybe it might be the same monster from the teaser trailer
Im guessing that the second monster might be in the teaser or the muto but who no,s i just hope lengendary gives us a trailer for the internet
The 2nd leaked trailer, I believe, was less than 2 minutes and was massively unfinished. If this is the same than it'll have a lot more footage and will be massively more impressive.
The second leaked trailer was about the same duration, 2:30ish. I hope its not the same one, I'll be extremely disapointed.
...or some people just take the heart thing too literally and have no concept of thematic symbolism. But hey, I guess everyone feels like they need an explaination for everything.
And just to be clear Godzilla's powers are not the same across the board. Regenerator G-1 was what his G-Cells were called in Godzilla 2000 and that concept is heavily borrowed from the G-Cells in the Heisei series.
Godzilla was never known to have super regenerative abilities in the Showa series, he was simply tough. (Which I like better anyway.) It might be safe to assume that the Godzilla in the Kiryu movies also does not have the same super regenerative abilities. He returned in the second movie with an ugly scar on his chest. Even the GMK Godzilla didn't heal from the wound on his shoulder caused by King Ghidorah-- which was the only reason General Tachibana was able to drill out of his body.
Super regenerative powers are more of an exception than a rule with Godzilla. I wouldn't apply it to every incarnation.
@BOBBYBOY68 - Hedorah is NOT in this film. It has been confirmed numerous times that Banno is working on a Godzilla vs. Hedorah sequel, but that idea did not make it into this 2014 film. That idea is its own project under Banno's watch, and this film is directed by Gareth Edwards, not Banno.
Hedorah is not in this film, nor did Banno ever say he was at any time. Misinterpretation of information is a waste of time and creates false rumors which circulate among fans and cause unecessary debates.
The chances that the monster shown in the SDCC 2012 proof of concept trailer was one of the main antagonists is next to nil.
That footage was "proof of concept" footage, meaning that it was for nothing more than a demonstration that Edwards was on the right track with Godzilla's design and the mood of the film. Again, the chances of one of the real antagonists making it into that teaser are next to nil. The chances we've seen anything regarding his main enemy in this movie is also pretty much nil.
There are no reasons at all, either professional or personal, for Edwards or Legendary to release anything regarding the main antagonist(s) of the movie.
I'd love to be able to see something, but until a real trailer makes its way around we'll all just have to wait.
Speculation on "proof of concept" footage is absolutely useless to everyone.
Interesting take on some of the monsters. I'd say do Titanosaurus, but he's not exactly a difficult concept to visualize a basic fish, reptile, amphibian mix.
Still always have had a soft spot for him.
If they honestly showed the boss monster dead in an opening trailer a year before the movies was even released I'm sure I wouldn't be the only 1 SEVERLY disappointed therefore i find it extremely unlikely, if not impossible, that is the end monster.
Since EVERY Godzilla in has shown they will use their ray without moderation it's fair to say any wound to the shoulder would end of killing them eventually.
A heart beating doesnt really mean much. That Godzilla wasn't the same as the others, different backstory and everything so to assume he had regenerator G1 is a stretch, but even so it would take months, maybe years to regenerate a whole body around the heart, since the brain which I would guess was telling the body to heal was gone, so while the heart may still function doesn't mean Godzilla could come back.
Great job as always, True American Godzilla, keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing more of these, although I can't think of any more specific monsters I want to see converted, so I guess I'll have to wait for someone else to ask for one.
