also as Rob from ETN has said, we as g-fans are technically promoting the movie, also both xmen and spiderman have given TOO MUCH infomation on their movies.
To be honest, it looks like something done in Photoshop, You can clearly see the texture the person put over the image and just faded it, and it wouldn't be hard to mimic a footprint. This is not from the new film. I mean it even has a watermark on it. Legendary wouldn't watermark an official image unless it was their company logo, along with WB, not some dude.
@Kyero
The source is originally from Variety which is one of the cinema industry's most trusted news outlets. They never made a prediction about the first trailer. You should look more carefully next time.
I don't see anything in the article of true relevance since it came out in late 2013. Anything said from an interview upwards of 4-5 months ago is likely to not hold water anymore in the face of either advancement of the product to somethign new or from it falling out completely.
Keep an eye out though.
We might get lucky and get something within the next couple months, but patience is a virtue in something like this.
@ AKAGI - You obviously didn't read what I wrote very well because I never made any assumptions whatsoever.
We know for a fact that Legendary isn't going to use something as fantasy based as angry souls of fallen soldiers from the war as the basis for their Godzilla. That's a fact, not an assumption.
Where was the assumption?
When you throw around accusations without paying proper attention to detail, you make an ass out of yourself. I don't have to do anything. You're proving that you're a disgruntled and angry individual who's got no basis for their arguments and you're just here to pick fights.
If I am making any assumptions, and I doubt anyone would say this is anything but face (except you): You've got some issues pal.
Insecurity and a bad attitude are things most people avoid, though I think they're entertaining. If you think you got to me, you're wrong. You only made me laugh at how pathetic your behavior has been throughout this thread and you've completely made a fool out of yourself by being a total hypocrite and making assumptions about the information others have posted.
You obviously don't know nearly as much as you think you do, and if knowing the facts makes me a know it all then I accept your compliment because yes, so far I do know everything about the information surrounding Legendary's Godzilla that's been released so far. I make no claims about knowing everything about the film as a whole because I'm not claiming to be a part of Legendary or making any claims about having "anonymous" sources like other people have who turned out to be full of crap. Do you know why I can take your 'know it all' jab as a compliment? Because I pay attentin to detail and I know how to separate fact from fiction.
You obviously do not, at least not yet.
If you want to pick a fight, make sure it's one you can win. You're obviously a disgruntled child, or at least a younger fan who has some severe anger issues similar to those of a child. Grow up a little bit and then come back to debate with me. Right now, you've got nothing.
@ANANASATOM. yes it is! be a real kaiju fan and watch pacific rim and you will know im right
That rumor was started by one of the many failed prophets who tried to predict the first official trailer and they never provided a source and no evidence (let alone any proof) to back up their claim.
Do not put faith in this rumor.
Part of it is that they are at different angles, but there's also truth to the fact that the poster is just a poster. Not all movie posters show official artwork down to the finest detail. When I analyzed the trailer where we get to see all of Godzilla's back under the lightning's light, I didn't see any of them curving upward like the one on top in the poster.
This, and the other official poster showing his tail, aren't 100% true to form as best I can see. They're damn close, for sure, but not exact. They're both meant to give you the best idea of what you're going to see in small pieces, and both do it quite well.
Even though it doesn't look exact to form, I still like them regardless. At least they look like the disfigured spines of Godzilla rather than iguana frills along his back.
I won't pretend to know where that picture came from like someone else on this thread, but this doesn't look like anything that woudl be attached to the new Godzilla movie.
Any footprints left by this Godzilla are going to be MUCH deeper and more well defined than that.
In all likelihood, it's just a bit of ground that was eaten away by erosion and happens to look kind of like a footprint. But I can guarantee it's not related to the movie.
i know this is all opinion but you some of you guys should really stop calling warner bros ass holes just because their marketing from the trailer up to now doesn't seem really good, i can understand that tehy were too secretive after 2013 comic con up to the tariler, but the marketing (in my opinion) has been as normal as any other movie and none of the plot has been given, this is what TA spiderman 2 seems to be giving too much of the story, we know who the villians are and what they look like in TASM2 but most of us have no idea what the MUTO's look like and we know nothing about them. XMEN DOFP's plot has links in the comics but i don't know what the plot invloves but i know about the sentinals and xmen dofp isn't going to be on the super bowl.
Yup, but this is how it's been from the get go. If sequel is greenlit it will either A) have to be made by both studios again or B) the rights will have to be renegociated with Toho involved. Making it even more difficult with a third party.
Not that anyone should be worrying about this stuff right now anyway. The movie has to succeed first for that to even be considered.
But the stuff about WB trying to sabatoge Godzilla is bull. It's Legendary's marketing agency that's pulling the strings. And guess what? It was Legendary's marketing agency that was responsible for Pacific Rim as well. There's an article that was released late last year that says Legendary fired the marketing heads responsible for Pacific Rim. NOT WB.
Here's your proof: 'Pacific Rim' Marketing Exec Exits Legendary for Paramount
This is an old debate that Valkorin didn't know was pretty much over.
Well heres the thing Godzilla isnt the first movie to be affected, ever wonder why the Pacific Rim marketing was so bad? ;)
Godzilla vs megalon then Godzilla vs Mothra then i fell in love :D
my first one was godzilla vs megalon and godzilla vs mothra ... then i fell in love :D
I would have all Godzilla suits as DLC content. Would love to have the Terror of mechaG suit and 84 suit as a playable character. I would also add Monster X
look guys, and yea i am one of the people who asked about the spines, all i wanted to know was why his spines where so tiny.... now i know why, i was just asking now i dont care... gosh you take things to personal other wise love the new look... geez...
@MIKEZILLA15 No it isn't the footprint from pacific rim.
That isn't the same!
It is so awesome, it looks great, keep up the work.
I don't recall what Godzilla movie I saw first with the earliest recollections being Godzilla king of the monsters, Godzilla vs Monster Zero, and Godzilla vs the Sea monster. Godzilla reminded me of a bigger t-rex with spikes and for a young boy a t-rex is essentially the greatest thing ever so to have a bigger 1 that is indestructable and breaths what I understood was fire at the time just blew my mind.
So they share rights? That makes it very unlikely a sequel will ever work out as getting things from 2 different companies to agree to a contract with both owning the monster is not an easy thing to do.
There different angles of Godzilla that's why they look different, yes they look the same.
Your good Armageddon.
This is a hard one. Who is the fastest, who is the strongest. I will have to say Magaguirus because she also has the ability to tack away the enemys energy and use it herself.
I was very interested in dinosaurs from a very young age. Making the toys that I got from parents and relatives fight and attack each other, you know, what little kids do with dinosaurs. Then my dad brought me King Kong vs. Godzilla on vhs when I was 3 years old and I had discovered the greatest dinosaur of all. I started collecting the toys and other movies located in my local video store. Fortunately, the films actually had some good lessons to be learned and followed me the whole way through my life to today. There was something about a giant mutated dinosaur that was indestructible and could breathe radioactive fire that intrigued me. Now I have a vast collection of figures and all 29 movies on DVD.
YEAH GODZILLA-MOVIES AWESOME!
I'm guessing the poster is showing a view slightly higher than the main back dorsal plates, possibly closer to Godzilla's neck.
Well, at least this is the last collaboration of WB and Legendary. But why did WB have to target Godzilla of all movies.. My one wish is for people to think that the TRUE Godzilla is the one from the Japanese(And the Legendary version), while the 1998 is a another monster flick. In my school, my classmates know of the new Godzilla movie(Yes, even the ones who aren't fans), but treat it as the sequel to the 1998 Godzilla movie. If you ask me, the 1998 Godzilla, no, ZILLA, isn't that bad as a standalone flick. My only problem is that the aforementioned flick has the name "GODZILLA". That's what made people think that the Legendary Godzilla is a sequel to the Zilla movie. But Gareth Edwards did mention that this new movie will wipe away the image of the fake Godzilla from the minds of people forever, and replace it with it's rightful heir: GOJIRA or GODZILLA, THE KING OF THE MONSTERS. 106 days more to go, people!
They're both just speed based monsters, but Rodan's shown at least in the showa, debatably in the heisei to be more resilient so I'll say Rodan.
Definitely Godzilla Raids Again. No one ever mentions this movie, mostly because it got sandwiched between the original, which many consider the best, and started the genre, and King Kong vs Godzilla which is the most popular movie in the series. Unfortunately due to horrible dubbing and bad placement this movie flies very much under the radar.
What if the M.U.T.O organization are evil and are controlling the mutos or maybe they are terrorists,so they have to take them down but its the only way in the city?
No problem, anthere is no mistake on making that post. He was a g-fan, he deserves to be mentioned!! And even if he wasnt, no one is here to judge what he is, may he rest in peace :(

This is great, and does make me feel better about the word of mouth. The trailer is really awesome, and everytime I show it to someone they are blown away. The reaction is usually something like "thats a Godzilla movie?!" The serious tone and beautiful effects are really connecting with people who normally would write off a giant monster flick. This movie really does have the potential to be something special-a blockbuster thrill ride that is also an art piece and acting showcase. Word of mouth is going to be a key to its success, because thats the best way to overcome the sentiment that this is just another big loud forgettable popcorn flick.
The only downside to the trailer is that parents may be reluctant to take their younger children to a monster movie that looks as scary as it does- therefore leaving entire families at home. (although I heard the same thing said about The Dark Knight...and we all know how that turned out.)
But ive said it before and ill say it again - I could care less about how much money it makes as long as it makes enough to warrant sequels...
It was either 'Son of Godzilla' or 'Ebirah: Horror of the Deep', I'm not sure, I was about 5 at the time! :P
This started my day off in a good mood. :) Thanks for the compliments Junkerde! The edit is an amazing job too. Though since it is a mock up of "unofficially released material" I may be asked to take it down. Just a heads up. But I love it, really well done. :)
Holy moly! That looks fantastic, man! An absolutely quality edit!
a cleaner and lighter final version:
I watch the Olympics, both winter and summer.
I think this might actually be better for Godzilla than advertising at the Super Bowl. I'm sure numbers for people who recall movie trailers during the Olympics are probably about the same, but here's the difference: The Winter Olympics go on for two weeks. The Super Bowl is only one day. If Godzilla trailers are spinkled throughout 14 days by Legendary, that might engrain the film in audiences' brains better than a Super Bowl spot. Maybe, anyway. I'll have to research the numbers on that.
This is of course if it's true.
