ok let me know this,on facebook there is a guy sayin the movie is cancelled,i would like to post back to him that its still on for May16,since this the only Godzilla movie my wife will sit through to watch lol,me bein a G-fan since 1969-?
Nice! Always had a bit of a crush on Megumi Odaka , she was never sexualized , just cute. Of course she's got nothing on Ms. Namikawa!!!
@Junkerde
I totally agree. It was cool a couple years ago, but it's very overused and unimaginative.
What do you guys think the names of the new monsters will be according to what we know? The names aren't going to be the MUTO's. It would be too confusing if that was the case.
There is no connection between the two, of that I can be certain. The Muto in the back of the toy box seems to be the winged Muto with the skin linked in between its arms, but that's just off a glance. No serious analysis there so don't quote me. It's just what it looks like to me.
But there is absolutely zero connection between Cloverfield and the Mutos.
Cloverfield was produced by Bad Robot Studios and distributed by Paramount, neither of which have anything to do with Legendary. A studio like Legendary wouldn't bother with going through the headache of acquiring the rights to a monster that could never measure up to Godzilla in any way just to kill it off and never see it again. There is no logic in such a course of action.
So no, there is no connection at all. There's a bit of a physical shape resemblance, but it's all coincidental. That much I can promise you.
I would like to have a clean slate but havesome monsters that are based off the old ones. A anguris reskin that resembles him but acts and looks slightly different. Also would like Space Godzilla and MechaGodzilla to come back.
I would've liked the classic Godzilla roar but I guess can live with the new one. Hopefully he will have more than the one used in all the trailers. I will be disappointed if his spikes don't light up when he uses the atomic breath. I love the new design.... But the face looks a little bit awkward. I think the spikes are perfect, as well as his texture. I hate how plain the 8 legged muto looks. It just feels like it's missing something. But I'm sure it will look bad ass in it's cg version. 😜
Definately not a foot print. It's the sand particles that have been transferred and moved around, adding darker values with lighting (shadows, ambient occlusion).
It's not a sequel so there's no cause for alarm.
Clean slate. Most of the old Godzilla movies were children's movies.
I would like some serious canon to be established, much like Marvel Comics is doing.
I'm not an actor, and I wouldn't want ruin the movie by pretending to be one.
I wouldn't mind being a person running in fear, though!
my screen name says it all
jeezus, what is it with the "king will rise" or "a king rises" and "RISES" as the tagline. it's so overdone and cliche/cheesy now, i cringe everytime i see it being used, and its only by fans. my cringe muscles are sore.
UPDATE #4: Godzilla: The Series information, release date and cover art has been added to Mill Creek's list of releases.
Info from Sci-Fi Japan.
i wish they would introduce some of these classic monsters but they wont let them create more and more new ones.
@gman
they just have i have gotten 12 other people into godzilla within the past three days :)
needless to say i am really looking foward to this movie :)
oh by the way i havent been online for the past few days can any one tell me when the godzilla 2014 bandai will release their figures?
Seems we grew up in the same era with a community that had the same thoughts (though my town city was probably much bigger), but simply found ourselves with different company. Can't say I was maligned for wearing a Rocketeer shirt, but, then I was seen in sports gear just as often. (Mind you not specific team apparel... I never got into that stuff at the time...)
Different strokes for different growths I suppose?
Your last paragraph is something pretty damn close to absolute truth. I have nothing but applause for that kind of sentiment. You're right, Godzilla is a very broad series with mass-appeal. Anyone from a young age to adulthood can enjoy him and for almost endless reasons. I hope those reasons continue to expand.
I would do Serizawa, even though I'm not Asian.
I wanna be the very best, that no one ever was.
Lol, but seriously, I'd prefer to wait until I see the movie before I say what role I would like to play as. :)
After a while, Muto will become a classic monster too. All old kaiju were knew at one point. :)
Although some of your statements may be harsh sometimes, I'll have to agree that we all love Godzilla in our own special way. We like the Godzilla that connects with us, whether he's evil, heroic, or just plain neutral.
In MY opinion, Zilla will always be my favorite. He's very misunderstood and he's always put down by most fans. I can really relate to him, because nobody really seems to understad me. While I do have good friends and a loving family, I know I don't belong in any group or clique. I don't mind being that way, it's just who I am. And I think the same goes for Zilla. :)
2 things i have to say about this.
1) no because breaking bad fans are gonn watch bcauase of him.
the second anyone else notice he's been a dad in all his bigger roles.
godzilla-dad
breaking bad-dad
malcolm in the middle-dad

I'd wanna be batman.
@Junkerde
I'm aware and thanks for the insight, but all I was just delving a bit deeper, to the psychology of it. People hold their opinions to their self worth and individuality, so when we violently disagree with each other, its probably because we see any shot at our opinions as more of an insult to who we are.
@Gman
I grew up in the early nineties, in a small, overly religious town where the only heroes you were allowed to have were God, Jesus, and insert generic sports figure here.
As we all know, the height of professional sports profitability was in the early to mid nineties. If you wore anything on your person that wasn't a representation of your favorite sports team, not only were you a terrible person, you were as good as being unpatriotic. Liking comic books was a death sentance in my town-- but now with the advent of sexy male actors playing characters like Thor and Ironman, suddenly young tweeny girls love it.
The change in expressionism in the short amount of time between me and my brother's schooling experience was dramatic. My brother, four years younger than me, could go to school wearing a pink shirt with oscar the grouch on it and no one cared, I wore a shirt with mario on it and returned back from gym class to find it tore up and all over the locker room.
So to say times have changed, its def. true. But I think that the general human condition is the same-- people crave this 'dark seriousness' because of its trendiness. Problem is though, while action films are becoming 'more grounded in reality' than ever, comedies are becoming less sensical and low brow by the second. Its an odd wave of change, as I can while some things are getting more serious, other things are getting dumber and dumber by the second.
But fans are fans-- I'm not trying to completely generalize Godzilla fans, more or less asking a question and exhibiting my half-assed observation.
But I know I'm right in saying that Godzilla is a sixty year long franchise with a wide fanbase(From ages 1 to 100 and everything inbetween making up the demographic)-- and the reason why most of his fans agree to disagree is because he does represent something a little different to each of us. Godzilla is special to all of us in its own unique way.
That random guy that seems to be everywhere wherever the monster (in this case Godzilla) appears
Seeing as I haven't seen the movie I can't really say I'm married to any role right now...
I'm liking everything about this movie so far but... I would of liked the marketing to start a earlier. Otherwise, no complaints
Oh so it's fanmade? Very cool. I can almost see Legendary doing something similar for a commercial poster you could pick up at a movie/toy store.
i'm surprised you didn't put aaron taylor johnson down as he is the solider, but i'd say ken's character
It's just mashed together, no thoughts on where the scenes go.
That text and the editing makes it look legit but the weird screaming sounds odd. I think this is fan made... good one though.
I think they should wipe the slate clean. theres going to be a new generation of viewers , so why not a new gen of monsters. Yet on the other hand if they updated the designs of the classics that would be awesome.
