First of All the Hollywood star is in America. I don’t think Toho just decided to put Godzilla there, I believe they were probably invited by Americans.

The star was put there in 2004 to celebrate Godzilla's 50th anniversary and the premiere of Final Wars.

It is interesting that Godzilla got a Hollywood star considering that he's a Japanese monster and the only Hollywood film at the time was 1998, yet Kong, the American monster that helped to inspire Godzilla's creation doesn't have one.

Seriously, the original Kong was taken from his home, put on display, got shot down and ragdolled off the side of The Empire State Building, yet he can't even get a Hollywood star? This is the thanks he gets for pioneering special effects?
