Well, here we are, ladies and gentlemen. The dawn of a new decade. Which means tons of new Godzilla content on the way. From the MonsterVerse coming to its (presumed) climax in March November's Godzilla vs. Kong, to Toho's recently announced "World of Godzilla" plan, I think it's safe to say that us G-fans are in for a lot more of our favorite radioactive reptile in the coming years.

So welcome to the 2020s. Here's to another decade of destruction, chaos, and all-around monster goodness.

Long Live The King.

Happy New Year to you as well.

Maybe in the 20s we will see Godzilla come back to a Tokyo that hasn't started rebuilding from the last visit!

dk Oh, I daresay Tokyo will be rebuilt...by the power of plot convenience!

I think it would be interesting to see G return to a Tokyo that is still rebuilding and squash their progress LOL! They never learn!

That sort of thing is addressed in the Gamera trilogy, though as it turns out the monsters never attack the same place twice.

Actually, most of the time neither do Godzilla and his adversaries--But the rebuilding portion is never addressed like Gamera.

G. H. (Gman) Yeah, they do seem to swap locales quite a bit, don't they? One movie it's Tokyo, then it's Osaka, then it's Yokohama or Fukuoka or Nemuro...truth be told, I've learned the names for a lot of Japanese locales via the Godzilla series.

On a related note, I do remember from my viewing of Tokyo S.O.S. that they were going to try and steer Godzilla into fighting Kiryu into the Shinigawa area of Tokyo because it was still damaged from the last movie, and they wanted to minimize urban destruction in the surrounding area as much as possible.

JurassicKaiju14,
I forgot about that line from Tokyo SOS. Good catch, yes, that's another example of at least acknowledging it.

Tokyo is such a vast city that saying, "Godzilla's attacking Tokyo," means about as much as, "Godzilla's attacking Texas!" Well, okay, where? Tokyo is the third largest city in the world. Godzilla could be attacking and a good portion would be fine.

Interestingly, after the original film, Godzilla didn't attack Tokyo again until Destroy All Monsters (1968). He fought against other monsters in the Tokyo area throughout the 1970s films where it became a catch-all for monster mayhem.
