...and ONLY humanity. Then apes and monkeys take over and........balance is restored. Good riddance and goodbye!  It is a cynical perverted crossover movie but hey- give your thoughts!

You don't actually want to see that happen though, right? Like, this is just a discussion for a potential plot element, right?

A true fan can acknowledge the bad while still appreciating and cherishing the good.

JurassicKaiju14 That is part of the point. It is uncomfortable and scary. If Godzilla is akin to a force of nature, we know that nature doesn't care about well intentioned individuals- it just reacts and responds while seeking balance.

Of course I don't want humanity to go extinct in real-life, I am human after all and so our friends and families.

I just tired that in every fiction humans as both species and as a clade (to include those "so called non-human" humans) have plot armor on.

I’d like to apologize for being a little too closed minded a few days ago on this thread. I don’t like to be that way and I’ll try to do better not to do that again.

Titan of Water  No apologies needed on this thread although it takes some guts to publicly do so. Just because some one disagrees doesn't make a point or opinion invalid. Let's mush on and have fun!

Well, I can see an Extinction story as a way to scare people into behaving. It’s not that uncommon. I remember learning about a anti nuclear Comic that had an entire town killed. Only the dog survived only to die from the aftermath effects. So I can see how an Extinction story could work but I personally just like stories better where the characters in it have chance at redemption.

The redemption after punishment angle is not new either but just as valid. I just personally like the darker view that we will be destroyed because of our collective irresposibility.

Interestingly, both styles utilize fear to modify behavior. Somehow that sounds familiar in other aspects of life outside sci fi...
