GODZILLA 2014 AND FRIENDS - If this information is true, it is incredibly sad! I dearly want a new Gamera film! :)

I don't really like Gamera, but this is sad news.

I was hoping for a new Gamera film as part of a tokusatsu rejuvenation following on from Toho's new Godzilla film.

No sauce, no proof; Then it must be true!

Even if he didn't site a source the fact no info has been released in any way about the movie makes it seem like this is likely to be true.

Link or no link, it's pretty obvious nothing is happening this year on the Gamera front outside of Matt Frank's comic. Daiei has really dropped the ball. It's not that Gamera has ever been super popular, but he's been valuable to the studio in the past. I would still love to see another Gamera film and I'm really disappointed in Daiei for not capitalizing on this and making a bigger deal out of it.

Even if there's no movie we haven't seen any promotional or advertising materials. No word of Japanese re-releases of any of the films. No celebration of any kind. It's outright disrespectful to their own property. Admittedly, much of this bile is a knee-jerk reaction from me, but I'd like to think something remotely big is being done for the character this year.

Easy guys. Proof or no proof, as Gman2887 said it's disrespectful on the company's part that nothing has been reported. No need to go at each other's throats over a bunch of crap. 

Now, we do have a comic series coming our way by the great Matt Frank. Let's wait for that.

I've searched int interwebs inside and out, and can't find conformation for this film's cancelation.  Of course, its painfully obveous at this point that the film isn't happening this year, but I have yet to see ANYTHING official that says, beyond a shadow of a doubt, "this film has been canceled".  If there is a place where this has been said, someone PLEASE post the link.

Very dissapointing.  This would have been the perfect year to release it.

Yeah, no way it's coming out this year. I have a theory that the new Japanese Godzill movie has something to do with it. Obviously if its a success and proves there's still a market for Kaiju films Gamera will be back.
