do you think there will ever be a godzilla vs godzilla?

I could see it!  A Godzilla vs Godzilla film was supposed to be the third film in the "Kiryu Saga" series by director Masaki Tezuka.  The unscupulous scientists of Japan were to have cloned Godzilla with that DNA from the final shot, and the film would have ended with a Godzilla vs Godzilla battle.  However, the box office for Tokyo S.O.S. was BAD.  Megalon bad.  And so, the 50th aniversary film became the all-out Godzilla: Final Wars, and after that Toho officially killed te series.

I still hold out hope that IF Tohowere to one day resume the series, they will gie Tezuka a chance to come back and finish his series after Tokyo S.O.S.'s cliffhanger ending, but its doubtfull.  But honestly, I think it will happen someday.  The possibilities of the concept are too incredible to let go to waste!

i actually had no idea they were gonna do that. i figured godzilla had just fell a sleep for like 20 years and rested or something but that wouldve been epic. i wonder how it wouldve turned out

Well it is the dream match up everyone wants besides godzilla vs gamera.

Like what danzilla said though, it was scheduled to happen, but never made the final cut.

We all can only hope that someday these two movies become reality, but for now, it is a dead nope. :/

I don't think so and I don't really see the need for a Godzilla vs. Godzilla movie when we've already had so many immitators fighting Godzilla. (MechaGodzilla, Kiryu, Biollante, SpaceGodzilla...etc...)

I just don't see the benefit of a Godzilla vs. Godzilla movie nor do I understand why a story would need that to happen in order for a thematic point to be made. Seems like a mundane retread on other ideas.

I'd bet my money on Godzilla :P

But yeah, I don't really see why that'd be a great idea. It would be pretty predictable, as both Godzillas would use the same moves. At least with a different monster you see different fighting techniques

not im not sure how it would turn out really. just because your fight your twin brother doesnt mean the two of you have the same skills or personality. and this idea is supposed to be for fun kind of like how final wars was. its about the cool factor 

Personally, I think emulating anything from Final Wars would be a mistake...

Yeah, I'm in with the majority here. I don't think a full-on Godzilla VS Godzilla would ever even be a thing.

HOWEVER!

With the new Legendary-verse, short animated sequences detailing, in the ancient past, titanic disputes between two Godzillas is a bit more likely. Done in mockumentary style, it could be a great little addition to expand the Legendary-verse. It could even be used to showcase a little bit more about the lives of the mega-mega-fauna like Godzilla, the MUTOs, the Shinomuras, etc.

But who would I root for? 

I do agree with Gman123 with legendary maybe showing in a flashback two godzilla's clashing but never seeing a whole movie devoted to it

DINOBOY22 - Hmm, this is a very interesting notion you've raised! In all honesty, I think there's just enough room for one Godzilla - any more, and the world wouldn't know what to do! :)

It would be cool if we had all the fancy Godzilla suits on one movie, kicking each other's asses. Even Zilla could make a cameo.
