Some time ago I saw in a post saying that Matt Reeves (director of Cloverfield), iy should direct the next Godzilla movie, rather than Gareth Edwards. Please read the posting here and tell me what you thick. http://steadyreelblog.blogspot.com.br/2014/07/perfect-director-for-godzilla-sequel.html

Billy Brennan - Like computers do not like? Alan Grant - I like the abacus, Billy.

I believe Gareth Edwards is directing both sequels.

Guys, he's not speculating that this guy might be the director instead of Garreth, he's saying he SHOULD be the director instead of Garreth. And you know what? I agree. 'Apes' was awesome, and Godzilla left much to be desired.

Garreth is a big fan of Godzilla, but he doesn't know how to direct actors to save his life. I'd like someone with more experience to step in this role.

Matt Reeves wasn't the director that made Dawn of the Planet of the Apes right out of the gate though. Dawn was a great movie. Perhaps the best of the summer, but if the younger, less experienced Matt Reeves had directed it I doubt it would as good as it is.

Like Matt, when he did Cloverfield, Gareth has a lot of growing to do and we should drop to our knees and thank God he's directing another movie before the Godzilla sequel. Experience points are important.

No ... i mean i loved Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes aswell as i freaking loved Godzilla , in my opinion Godzilla is one of the best movies of 2014 along with Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes and Guardians Of The Galaxy , i yet have to watch Interstellar and see if it gets in my list :D , anyway Gareth did a wonderfull job with Godzilla it just gets better and better everytime i watch it , but maybe they could get a better writter for the second one , you know to take things to another level , but well time will tell and yes i'll wait 4 years if it's necessary ( i'm interested and curious on Gareth's Star Wars Spin-off) , i don't understand why people want everything to be rushed nowadays.

No thanks.  I think Gareth did a wonderful job at the movie and will definetly do so for the second one.

I for one wouldn’t mind a different director for two reasons. 1) I hate having to wait another four years for this, and 2) Although I think Edwards did a fine enough job on Godzilla, I was disappointed in it and did not like some of his creative/editorial decisions, some of which I’ve read he plans to continue using in the sequel. Obviously, the lack of engaging characters is well documented too.

As for Matt Reeves, well I loved “Dawn.” It’s one of my favorites of the summer, and quite honestly, and I never thought I would say this, I think he did a much better job of putting us viewers in the middle of the shit storm that a giant monster attack would be and on a fraction of the budget. Cloverfield looks a hell of a lot better than it has the right to and on a $25 million budget. He, and the rest of the filmmaking crew did an amazing job with what they had.

Bottom line is we have Edwards at the very least for the next one and we won’t see it for another four years; pretty much a given. I hope that it’s worth the wait and that he learns some new things from his next film that make him a better director and that the studio takes some of the criticisms/shortcomings on this one to heart to make the Godzilla movie we all want to see.
