Ford arrives at the garage, parks the car and takes a deep breath, looking at Elle and Sam's photograph before leaving it in the car. He walks into the entrance, but stops, looking back. After a few seconds, he runs back to the car, opens the door and picks up the photo, putting it on his jacket's pocket. He is greeted by Takashi.
-Hello Mr.Brody. You don't look so good.
-Things are a bit rough back at home, but nevermind. Are we preparing for the mission today?
-Yeah. The Director is awaiting us in the Ops room.
Ford and the rest of MIST gather in front of Dr.Graham on the Operations Center.
-MIST, after looking at the intel you brought, we are now fully aware of the current situation. Erika Shiragami, codename Biollante is being tracked closely by the US Military and counts with the help from the local police departments. The main problem right now as you probably now already, is Godzilla. He is tailing Erika quite fast, and despite the navy's attempts to prevent his breaching of the mainland, they obviously failed. He is now 136 kilometers away from her.-says Graham
-Already?
-That is what our tracker says. Erika appears to be making short breaks, probably to feed, making us estimate that Godzilla will eventually intercept her in 23 hours. After some (futile) talks with the american president, any negotiations for your entry on american soil were immediatly rejected, thereby, the whole operation will have to be as covert as possible.
-And what is the plan right now?
Serizawa enters the room.
-You cannot kill him! You have no right to do it!-says Serizawa histerical.
-Enough, Ichiro!-says Graham- We have no choice. As far as we know, Erika hasn't killed any civillians, and just by getting in the mainland, Godzilla managed to sink a carrier, and God knows how many casualities will be when he starts battling Erika.
-You don't understand! How can you be sure that it is a human being in control? How do you know Biollante is not tricking everyone? After all, it has human intelligence...
-You have a point, but why is it being careful enough to avoid the big cities instead of just ignoring it and wrecking everything on it's path?
-Because I think that it wants us to help taking care of Gojira and leave us defenseless.
-We will keep that in mind Ichiro, but we must prevent Godzilla from confronting it. And if he starts causing too much trouble, then we will have no choice but to fight him with all we got.
Serizawa leaves the room frustrated and Graham continues the debriefing.
-Ok, continuing, I guess that everyone heard what just took place here, so your objectives have changed.
-How do we know if what Serizawa said is true or not?-asks Goodnight with a smile-We lock her in the local precinct and interrogate her?
-Now is not the time for jokes Mr.Ribeiro. Our only option is to establish contact with Eri... Biollante and keep an eye on it. If it shows any destructive behavior until Godzilla intercepts it, put it down. It's a longshot, but independently of what happens next, we have to make sure that we made the right decision.
-How are we being inserted? The coast must still be packed with the naval forces that can spot us in the blink of an eye, with or without the suits.-says Ford
-You will be dropped in Mexico, and from there, you will make your way North into the estimated interception zone. Anymore questions?
No one talks.
-Ok, gear up and prepare for the mission.
The team leaves the Operations Room.

At the same time

The president picks up the phone.
-Yes, Marston?
-It seems that Biollante has been murdering some civillians along the way. They were reported missing immediatly when it passed by the towns. The FBI investigated the scenes and found evidences that it is eating them. We have to put her down.
-No.
-What? Don't you see that it killed american civillians and many more are at risk now that Godzilla is on it's way?
-Just listen. We have the ultimate oportunity of taking down a major threat to the United States. We have more chances in controlling Biollante than Godilla. I say that we should help it taking down the giant lizard, and then, we could put it on a proper containment.
-And how do you suggest that we cover up the murders?
-I don't know. You are the damn Minister of Defense. You are the one that is supposed to know how to deal with those kind of things.
-You are crazy you know that?
-Just shut up and think on the big picture. How many conflicts will be prevented if we have Biollante on our side? How many american lives will be saved?
-You have a point. I am calling the FBI.
-Yeah. Do that. Keep me posted about anything more.
-Will do.

I just wanted to say that I took some time to seek inspiration (and I got occupied with college work as well btw :/) after chapter 8, since I started feeling that the story would get too cheesy from the moment I inserted the suits, but as you can see, I am back on writing this, and I hope you enjoy this.
