Hi All,

Firstly I've seen the movie twice and really enjoyed it on both occassions.

Now there are plenty of plot inconsistencies but arguably the largest relates to EMP. EMP being the MUTOs main ability.

In the scene where they use the train to try to nuke the monsters, how is that train even moving given the EMP field generated by the MUTOs? It could be argued that the EMP ability is something that is used much like atomic breath and isn't always on but that also could be countered by pointing out the final scene where upon G killing the big MUTO all the power returns to the city.

Thoughts on this?

And whilst the City is on the agenda, how did that covery group of soliders manage to use an electronic device to pinpoint the nuke when EMP had essentially 'killed' the city.

Again I just to hear thoughts on these areas, I'm not hating on the movie. I like it alot.

I have a feeling that the EMP 'field' that surrounds the female MUTO only affects the more electrically consuming objects. Such as airplanes, power plants, buildings and so on. Things of minor like cars, trains or small equipments wouldn't be affected, unless the MUTOs deliver direct EMP blasts out of their claws.

Just my theory on it.

UNICRONIC - I'd have to agree with THE WEAVER's statement. However, perhaps I can add on a little more information. I might venture so far as to say that the EMP utilized by the MUTO is primitive to a large degree - greatly affecting devices that are not as well-made or larger in proportion (and, thus, having more area for the EMP waves to impact). Not only that, but it's possible that the systems of the monorail at the airport simply rebooted or switched over to an auxiliary power supply after having been taken offline by the MUTO's EMP barrage. Of course, if the creature produces a constant sphere EMP distortions, there's no explainable reason why the monorail started-up again - it should have stayed offline! :)
