Here is the problem. Is it a movie only hardcore Godzilla fans will enjoy?

The reviews, negative and positive almost unanimously agree:

There just isn't enough Godzilla in the film. Its like a cameo.

Now, they are not talking about having him in your face constantly, but,

a little more Godzilla in his own movie.

Remember, the first Godzilla movie was written during a different time period,

and was a shorter movie in duration hence a more limited time.

Here they could have made the movie 2 hours 20 minutes if they wanted.

I am more concerned with the agreement between the negative and positive reviews if this movie will have repeated viewings by people who would have become fans but the movie lacking its star just sets them off.

Do 10 year olds and 16 year olds in our day and age really have the patience for such a movie?

My nephew of 7 years old had saw some of the boring Sowa movies with me, and he liked some of them. I do think that people of 10-16 years old will like the movie, especially the boys.

Remember Jurassic Park, from the two hours movie the dinosaurs were only 7 minutes on screen. However, we don't remember the history or the characters, we remember the dinosaurs!

This will be the same, at the end, the common people will simply ignore the history and will focus in Godzilla and the Mutos and will remember them more than you think. Screen time is irrelevant if the character impress your brain, and Godzilla can do this perfectly.

I am going to see the movie this sunday, but even now, I am 100% convinced that this is the best Godzilla movie ever, and by a laaaaaarge margin.

GUATEGOJIRA,

This is "Godzilla" though.  Jurassic Park was a different thing. Also, the critics bad and good on this agree the acting was flat as a pancake and that there was not enough Godzilla. Ridiculous to take a chance like that.  That is worrisome to me. I will judge after seeing it, but , if your not going to show Godzilla much you better have a story or a set of actors that will deliver you the movie.

Now the acting and the script being flat are the directors fault and the script writer. The buck stops there.  Bad casting plus poor acting has me thinking Edwards is just too inexperienced for this and is better suited toward special effects.

He took such a chance on this, that I am worried about it. IF it doesn't capture enough attention after 2 weeks I highly doubt a sequel.

The movie is dropping on Rotten Tomatoes right now, hopefully it can come back up, but it should be a no brainer that one shows more Godzilla in a summer blockbuster.

Somehow the idea got into Edwards brain that people would be bored of a bit more Godzilla? Where on earth did such an idea come from?

How will such an approach go over in China? They loved Pacific Rim, but that had a ton more action.

I have real doubts that people want to sit for almost 2 hours waiting for the cameo.

Dude. It was never going to have a 98% fresh on rotten tomatoes. Go watch it and enjoy it and quit worrying about other people think.

I ADORE this movie to death. Are there problems? Yes? Should there have been more Godzilla screentime? YES. But looking at it, we really have nothing much to complaint. Seriously, we've seen EVERYTHING we've been wanting to see by the end, Godzilla being a pure badass uncontrollable force of nature.

What more are we expecting? Godzilla stomping more buildings? Making more tidal waves? While that is always cool, Gareth made sure things as such doesn't repeat.

The dominant scenes with the characters only help serve to make Godzilla a more divine like presence, which I absolutely loved, and I had no problems with their acting or dialogue.

i agree with @the weaver. although i would have liked it if Godzilla had 10 more minutes of screen time. the acting was decent tbh, its just that some people were not patient enought so they started hating on the acting.

FROZEN and THE WEAVER - I simply can not wait to see this film! I've not yet made my way to the theatres, but everything I'm hearing about Edwards' film is setting a fire beneath me! I'm so incredibly excited! :)
