GODZILLA: Similarities Between Foes

Over the many years of Godzilla's film "career," we've seen many kaiju come and go, win and lose, each with their own unique and memerable designs, however, there is one thing that I have noticed that many of them have in common;

The majority of Godzilla's foes have been insectoid/crustecean/arachnoid (multi-limbed and/or exoskeleton) in appearance (in one form/way or another)-

Kumonga
Kamacuras
Megalon
Mothra
Battra
Ebirah
Destoroyah
Megaguirus
Meganulon
Flying M.U.T.O. (Hokmuto)
8-Legged M.U.T.O. (Femuto)

Yes, they are just movies and could be coincidence, but this could say something about Godzilla's natural diet. Yes, Godzilla was supposed to original appear with a cow in his mouth, and in one movie he was meant to be shown eating another kaiju (Godzilla Jr. had eaten whales in GvD), however, these are after his mutation(s); perhaps he had once been an insectivore?

I'd like to hear what you guys think about this.

It seems... quite unlikely that a big dinosaur would sustain itself on insects. Plus, in some versions of his origin story, such as in the original film, he was never mutated at all, he was always a giant indestructible monster.

@LinkZilla- Have a little fun with the thought. Plus, I'm fairly sure there are several species of creatures that one can relate to Godzilla in physiology that sustain themselves on insects for a period of their life before moving on to other prey.

Also, quite unlikely how? Godzilla is from a time period where creatures were easily near his size. I don't see how insects about half Godzilla's size couldn't sustain him.

You're confusing me. Are you talking about the unmutated Godzillasaurus of the Heisei series, or the 50+ meter titan himself? If it's the former, I say it's unlikely because no insects, even in the dinosaur age, were anywhere near that size. If it's the latter, he doesn't eat anything, he just feeds on and/or produces his own nuclear energy.

It's a posibility. That's quite a good theory.

Well seeing as he never persued those monsters as a food source, moreso they were a threat to him in most cases, I'm gonna have to disagree. Even when he beat some he showed no interest in eating their dead bodies usually just walking away

Wow, I let this thread die. Shouldn't have done that. Anyway...

To everyone; What I am talking about is an unmutated Godzilla, something from his own time-period, be it any of them.

I read an article a few days ago concerning how kaiju could exist in reality (as something of a living fossil that, while it doesn't need them, retains their natural habits and instincts).

My point is, what if naturally, Godzilla ate insect-like creatures, but now has learned, overtime, he doesn't need to eat them?

Deviation is not shameful. Conforming is.
