Given that Godzilla 2014 is a complete reboot of the franchise and shares no links to the earlier movies, I think we could say that the MUTOs might be considered a 'Level 1' enemy of Godzilla? Provided a sequel is to happen, which would then introduce a more powerful enemy of a higher level of power.
With that it makes me wonder then, how would the MUTOs fare when compared against the other enemies of Godzilla? We do know Godzilla has got many adversaries that come with special abilities and exaggerated powers, but how about the MUTOs?
Would the MUTOs be much weaker in comparison due to the limitations of the story-outline which borders towards something more realistic and down-to-earth? or would they pack a heavier punch when compared to monsters like King Ghidorah or Gigan or Biollante?

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-30-2014 10:29 AMwe'll have to wait till after the movie. But i'd wager it would have a rough time of it. If it is THE ancient enemy of Godzilla, then it runs the risk of overspecializtion. It could be so well suited for fighting Godzilla that it would have difficulty fighting anything else. Especially if it does have a parasitic relationship like many have suggested. Perhaps that small pair of arms on it's underside are claspers meant to help it attatch to Godzilla...
