As most of you may have already known Akira Takarada turns 80 today.

Excellent post. Always loved it when Takarada was in a Godzilla movie. He completely puts to bed the false notion that Godzilla movies only had bad acting. He was an A-lister after the original film and a very positive, energetic talent in the Godzilla movies that followed the original.

My favorite role of his in the series was Yoshimura from Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster. Playing a hardass, fugitive was a very different and exciting change from his more honorable characters in previous films. He really put a lot of energy into the part.
