THE DESTROYER OF WORLDS
MemberMothra LarvaeApr-22-2014 3:38 PMThe Godzilla main trailer currently has 21,989,073 views. The Avengers main trailer had 24 million. It is a little short but Godzilla could actually do as well or even better than THE AVENGERS!!!! What do you guys think?

To me, that's how it should be.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-22-2014 4:18 PMLol, no. It would be great, but the big guy doesn't have the same appeal as super heros do. Little kids LOVE Marvel as much as adults. they are indoctrinated into marvel early with cartoons, and by the time they are old enough to watch the movies, they are familiar with the whole universe. Godzilla is popular, and been around for a while, but his long absence in the states will hurt his box office numbers.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-22-2014 5:50 PMNo, the Avengers trailer with the most views that I see has more than 41,000,000 views. Yeah, Godzilla has a really high level of hype right now, but not that high.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-22-2014 5:56 PMAs much as I dislike the Avengers movie, I'm afraid it is more popular compared to Godzilla 2014 by a long shot. :/

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-22-2014 6:01 PMLet's see some statistics. The main trailer for Godzilla, which has now over 20,000,000 views, is a month old. That is roughly on the same level that when the Avengers trailer came out (the one with the 40 million view count: Marvel's Avengers Assemble (2012) - Official trailer | HD ), after the movie was released, the boost brought it another 20 million.
Based on these estimates, Godzilla is as popular as the Avengers. It all depends on how well loved the movie will be when it's out, if it will be, you can be certain it has a fighting chance. It can even surpass the Avengers level if it's really lucky.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-22-2014 6:06 PMWell, if it does surpass the Avengers, I just hope fangirls won't do yaoi pairings with Godzilla and the Muto or something. :P

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-22-2014 6:08 PMMARVEL and DC movies, I have come to see, are washed up, unoriginal and can barely hold a single plot together.
Unless they're animated. Then they can actually make sense of stuff.
This new Godzilla movie may not be as popular as the Avengers, but damn it, it will be better. Even if it sucks.
Why?
Because Godzilla is more of a symbol than any MARVEL or DC hero ever will be. Except for Superman. 'Cause, y'know. Superman.
P.S. I hate Superman with an inhuman passion.

MemberBaragonApr-22-2014 6:17 PMNo way Godzilla will do better than Avengers. Avengers had years of prequel movies coming out to build hype, godzilla has had a few months to the average viewer.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-22-2014 6:43 PMI personally have the same opinion as Devianteist about Marvel movies.
Superhero movies are nothing but the same rehased stuff that we've been having shoved down our throats for the past few years.
No one gives a poop about youtube views. Lets all agree on that.

MemberBaragonApr-22-2014 8:25 PMGodzillasaurus Rex-Yes, its the box office receipt that counts in the end for a movie, not youtube views.
Online buzz does not always translate into box office gold. Snake on a plane had plenty of buzz but it didn't turned out as well as the producers hoped.
Of course, Godzilla has a more established "brand" so there is confidence in that. However, the point is, don't mistake online buzz as actual popularity and box office.

AdminSpaceGodzillaApr-22-2014 9:18 PMThe superhero movie market is so saturated right now. Audiences starting to get sick of them, I know I am. Godzilla is going to kill it, and spawn a new age of giant monster movies. Superheroes will soon take the back seat and true Sci-Fi will own the market in Hollywood. It's a good time to be Scified haha ;)

That is my response to Loki. The Avengers is an awesome movie, but Godzilla is going to be more awesome!

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-23-2014 11:24 AMI personally love the superhero movies (especially those of the Marvel Cinematic Universe) and can remember being super-excited for Avengers when I saw Captain America's post-credits scene. I also remember not being dissapointed by Avengers. However, my excitement for Avengers is a drop in the ocean compared to my excitement for Godzilla. I will be massively happy, and probably talk my family's/friend's ears off, if Godzilla turns out to be good. And all signs are pointing in that direction.
