MemberMothra LarvaeDec-26-2013 10:09 PMFrankly, this is the one Godzilla movie that I flat out did not enjoy and it doesn't have anything to do with the story but mostly the Godzilla suit they use. It rubs me the wrong way. For one, the posture and the way he holds himself (almost slouching) doesn't look right. And I think that he looks like he's gotten quite fat and had a few to many beers. I mean, to me, it looks like he has a major beer gut! And the eyes, while fitting his origins described in the movie and making him look extremely scary, are more strange than anything without any pupils. The movie itself wasn't bad, I just don't enjoy watching it like G vs Gigan or G vs MechaG because those two movies I watched all the time when I was at my babysitters when I was little. If the suit had some minor changes, I think GMK would be one of my favorites.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-26-2013 11:05 PMI actually do like the film and the suit to me looks great gives Godzilla a menacing look.
my least favorite would probably be Final Wars cuz film script looked pretty rushed so rushed that they even made the earth Defenders on the alien side.
the designs of the monsters looked great though especially Anguirus.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-26-2013 11:15 PMthe GMK design was interesting to me because I loved how it brought a more classic original look while still having a new perspective and touch....but I don't like his dorsal spines...only complaint....they look melted

AdminGodzillaDec-27-2013 1:02 AMGMK is both one of my favorites and one of the best in the entire series. I love the suit as well, though I understand some people's complaints. The fact is the suit was built to be hunched over-- That's why the belly is a little unflattering. However, the suit proved to be too heavy for the suit actor to walk while hunched over so they had to use it for an upright position.
Otherwise it's a surprisingly mobile suit that truly captures the massiveness to Godzilla. It's the biggest and heaviest suit of the series and it made an impression with built-in facial animatronics that put every other previous head to shame. What other Godzilla head (connected to the suit) could lift its eyebrows, curl its lip, furrow its brow, wrinkle its nose, blink and rotate its head in every direction altogether? Sure some suits can do those individually, but none have been able to replicate that much at once.
Even if I didn't like the suit it wouldn't deter me from the film. The movie is too good on its own to complain about Godzilla's look. If my enjoyment for Godzilla movies depended so much on the suit design I wouldn't like a lot of Godzilla movies. I've never been a fan of the suit from King Kong vs. Godzilla or Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster, but both are still fantastic movies.

MemberBaragonDec-27-2013 4:40 AMOf all the problems I have with GMK I actually liked the Godzilla suit.
From the chest up it's probably 1 of the best suits of the franchise

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-27-2013 8:10 AMI agree with you on this GMAN2887 it was a fantastic movie and great animatronics. With its abundance of monsters and multiple fights it had me coming back every time I saw it on crackle (I really need it on DVD 😞) But those spines are just horrendous and you can say I'm nitpicking but I think they should of made them look like the original with a new touch.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-27-2013 9:25 AMi agree with his eyes, to me he looked blind, and i like the suit but the eyes kind of ruined it for me.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-27-2013 2:58 PMI absolutly LOVED GMK. There was absolutly noy=thing wrong with it. In my opinio, if people are gonna be nittpicky about GODZILLA. Then your no true fan. You just go past the problems with the movies and love them without complaining about something. ( but yes, there is a lot of flaws about godzilla, but thats not important)

So a fan ignored everything wrong with a movie and just blindly loves it? No that makes so little sense it's ridiculous. So I can love and cherish almost every Godzilla movie but because there are 3 I just can't enjoy that much I'm not a fan? I'm sure every1 on this site has at least 1 Godzilla movie they could watch, and sit through, but could argue for hours why it's not a good movie, and by far the worst of the franchise.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-28-2013 9:32 AMPersonally I think GMK is right up there with the original and 1964s Godzilla vs Mothra. I loved everything about this film except that they ignored it and went in a different direction the next year. While G2K is my personal favorite design (followed by GvsBiollante) I love this pretty radical departure, he lookes very evil.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-28-2013 11:55 AMBeing GMK was my first Godzilla movie I watched I am a little biased torwards it, but after watching all 28 Godzilla movies GMK is my favorite, besides the original one. This suit for me was a cool suit and I agree that the spines were a little strange and the typical spines of a Godzilla they kind of went well with the suit and I like the white. They made him look evil and cool and the designs of the other monster suits awesome. As for the story it was an enjoyable and entertaining storyline. Like I said earlier GMK is my second favorite movie behind the first movie.

AdminGodzillaDec-28-2013 1:20 PM^Or just amazon.com here: Godzilla Mothra King Ghidorah
It's only $10 and it's not like the movie is out of print like Sony's Showa movies-- Although I am hoping Sony rereleases all of its Godzilla movies on bluray around the time the new movie shows up in theaters.
