MemberMothra LarvaeDec-24-2013 1:34 PMTaking into account that Gareth Edwards has said many times that this will be a more realistic take on the character, and that the human characters in the film will have more realistic reactions to what's happening, it seems inevitable that the science-oriented characters would address this (or at least ask the question of how such an organism could exist). Do any of you think this will be answered in the movie? Or will it be a complete mystery to the characters, never actually being answered at all?
Thoughts?

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-24-2013 1:42 PMI think it will be explained somehow, because to make it believable you must explain how it exists.

GODZILLA HIMSELF
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-24-2013 3:21 PMim sure there will be some vauge explenation, nothing too comlex or else it becomes corny. most details of his origins should be kept a mystery so that the focus is more on whats going on, and not on what has already happened.

AdminGodzillaDec-24-2013 6:49 PMOne of the things that torpedoed the Heisei series is that it over-explained things, sometimes even going as far as force-feeding the audience two explainations for a single thing.
I think it'd be creepier and more mysterious to leave things like that fairly vague. Afterall, the idea is that a creature like Godzilla existing should defy logic and present scientific understanding. That's one of the best things about Godzilla

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-24-2013 6:53 PMIf it is explained, I want it to be explained as if those who give the explaination aren't too sure. Mystery is much better, and will hold a creepy realistic tone

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-24-2013 7:28 PMI'd like for there to be an actual explanation for how this could happen, just for the sake of the 'man humbled by nature' theme of the movie. There's been other times that the laws of physics had to be amended in human history, this would be a graphic b-slap to mankind's arrogance...

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-26-2013 7:52 PMagain Godzilla and realisticness have never been on good terms......I mean tristar tried to kill him off and give him a new look to make him realistic and we all know how that went...so the hope is that the origin makes sense like the whole godzillasaurus mutated by radiation plot....i mean what you really want is it to make sense so it Appears more real...I mean the black hole gun from Godzilla vs megaguirus? How much sense did that make?

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-27-2013 11:04 AM@BurningGodzilla1995: I agree about those past movies, but this is a reboot of the franchise, and realism is one of Gareth Edward's goals with it...
I was actually referring to the physics of such a creature existing, not his actual origins. How could he function at that size, with gravity being a constant? What would he consume? These are questions that the characters in the movie will most likely be asking...

BurningGodzilla1995
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-27-2013 11:22 AMI understand completely but origin is important.....I mean with gravity he would have to be heavy to support himself (already done) and functioning....well I mean it's just like an animal at greater size function....like a elephant....it can still function as long as it can eat....and it probably eats fish being amphibious....I mean maybe even whales....poor shamu

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-28-2013 12:26 PMI seriously am looking forward to how this is addressed in this movie, considering the realism aspect...
Poor Shamu, indeed!
