MemberMothra LarvaeOct-29-2013 2:21 AMThis is a very interesting article I found written by a hardcore Godzilla fan who happens to right serious Kaiju novels. Give it a read and come back to this discussion:
http://www.tor.com/blogs/2012/06/looking-ahead-godzilla-2014-fears-and-hopes
This article could not be closer to the truth. Everything I hope for, and everything I fear is described in this article. A Godzilla that speaks the message loud and clear for a new generation. And although all we have to work on with the concept is a the leaked teaser, I think it's safe to say if the movie is the exact representation displayed in the teaser, we're good.
Now onto a more interesting subject to most I'm sure: I can almost confirm we'll get a trailer for Thor 2, maybe even released online Nov. 3rd. Why? X-men: Days of Future Past, Amazing Spider-man 2, and the new Captain America 2 movie are all showing off trailers with Thor 2. Now you're asking: So? What's the big deal? A Marvel movie advertising other Marvel movies?! How shocking! The point I'm trying to get across isn't in the movies being advertised, but the dates of said movies.
What do I mean? Take a look:
1) Captain America 2: April 4th, 2014
2) Amazing Spider-man 2: May 2nd, 2014
3) Godzilla 2014: May 16th, 2014
4) X-men: Days of Future Past: May 23rd, 2014
All these movies are not that far away from each other in release date. Hell the new X-men is a whole week after Godzilla. So at this point, it isn't about releasing a trailer to early compared to other movies. So if Thor 2 is showing off movies as far as those dates and since Thor 2 is already predicted to be another box office Marvel hit you have to ask yourself: will there be a Godzilla trailer? The answer should be a 90% yes! Confirmed? No. Might as well be? Hopefully yes! What do you guys think?

MemberBaragonOct-29-2013 2:44 AMI don't think there will be a trailer at Thor. If anything the Marvel movies take away that chance.
At the average movie I go to see there are roughly 5 trailers, and with marvel movies occupying 3 of these spots it makes it even less likely for Godzilla to appear. Sure in terms of release date he's close to those movies, but marvel Movies ALWAYS show marvel movies before every1 else, and that leaves roughly 2 to 3 spots after them up for grabs.
Unfortunately there are plenty of big name movies coming out between Thor and Godzilla who are likely to take these spots over the big guy.
Could we see the trailer? Sure but i think the Marvel movies previews are just a much evidence we won't as we will.

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-29-2013 8:28 AMWell if there's around 3 other previews then Godzilla is one of them. At big hit movies you wanna show about the same demographic at your movie, thus the superhero movies being advertised at a superhero movie. The only movie besides Marvel ones I can think of that Thor will advertise is the 2nd Hobbit. I still say expect Godzilla, releasing him at Thor would get people interested enough for them to start showing the trailer at other movies like Enders Game and the Hobbit.

MemberBaragonOct-29-2013 9:16 AMEven if going for the same demographic a Robocop remake, the sequel to 300, and Anchorman 2 are all coming out and all have earlier release dates than Godzilla.
There are plenty of movies who would more than likely take the spot in the preview section for a big movie like Thor 2, and trust me all those companies want a big movie to release trailers on I would be highly surprised to see Godzilla take it over the others.

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-29-2013 9:58 AMAnchorman 2 is a rated R comedy and the 300 prequel will be a rated R gore fest. Those movies will never in hell be advertised at a Marvel movie. Robocop, yes. That's 5 trailer slots, the only other movie left is Godzilla. The one thing that begs the question is, will there be a 6th.

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-29-2013 11:52 AMYou guys shouldn't have your hopes high for the trailer to be released on November 3rd. It's all just fan speculation. Don't get mad if the trailer isn't released on that day. And don't say I didn't warn you.

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-29-2013 12:26 PMOn November 3rd, the Godzilla special effects person is gonna be at the Comikaze thing. They might just show the people who show up some of the footage with special effects in it, maybe even show us what the kaiju actually look like. I dunno. But I really doubt that they're going to release a trailer on Nov. 3.
Just because it's Godzilla's "birthday", doesn't mean that they have to do anything on that day. I also don't think that Thor: The Dark World will promote Godzilla. I really only see Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug doing any sort of promotion before 2014. I'm pretty sure we'll see a trailer in 300: Rise of an Empire, as it's a Legendary movie, and it's a couple months earlier than Godzilla.
Like Kaijusaurus has said, I wouldn't get my hopes up for a trailer this early.

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-29-2013 5:53 PMWell, I hope INSTINCTIVEGIGAN is right. Hell we all do. But I will say this. If it doesn't happen, we may be witnessing a deliberate ploy by WB to sabotage the take on this movie simply due to the split from legendary...who knows. it will certainly make me wonder. There has to be a bit of resentment on WB's part. Because any sequel would be done by Legendary and Universal...politics .

Actually, that that may not true. Everyone seems to be forgetting Toho here...
Keith Aiken, one of the contributors to Sci-Fi Japan and a current storyboard artist in LA, explained that the agreement with Toho, was that Legendary and WB would be partners for the American Godzilla franchise. That agreement still holds.
Kind of like how Legendary and Warner Brothers still had a DC agreement (although the difference is WB owns DC). The two companies still had it in their contract to do a Man of Steel 2 together. Legendary is out of it now, but had they not gotten out of the contract Legendary would have been making the next Man of Steel (or Batman vs. Superman rather) with Warner Brothers despite being partnered with Universal.
The issue is more complicated with Godzilla. As of right now if a sequel were greenlit, both Legendary and Warner Brothers would have to re-team for Godzilla 2-- because that's the partnership Toho agreed to, not one with Universal. WB would still be shooting themselves in the foot, unless they wanted to renegotiate their stake in the future of the franchise.
That said, while I don't expect a teaser on November 3rd, I don't think The Hobbit is out of the realm of possibility. A lot of trailers are coming out at once right now and most studios don't like doing that so close to each other because they don't want the hype of each movie to cannibalize one another.
I'd actually rather Godzilla be one of the last trailers we get this year so it's pretty fresh in people's minds once the New Year starts.

Do you think Toho might want to re work the contract to include Universal instead of WB? you would think that Universals clout with movies, it's own historic stable of monsters, and a theme park, there is a lot there it would seem to make it a perfect fit for the Godzilla franchise.

AdminGodzillaOct-30-2013 12:38 AMIt depends on what each studio wants.
Of course, first, the movie has to be successful. But if it is Warner Brothers will want a piece of that pie and not budge with the contract.
Legendary just seems content having creative control of the thing, so whatever is the easiest route to make the movie would probably be their choice.
As for Toho, who knows what they'd want. I'm sure they would understand the situation between WB and Legendary. Still, even if they preferred Universal to take control that doesn't mean WB would be down for it.
It's hard to say. It also made me wonder what other possible franchises WB and Legendary are permanently tied to.

AdminGodzillaOct-30-2013 4:16 AMIn other news, director Marc Webb confirmed that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer will not be attached to Thor, but The Hobbit instead.
Funny how Spider-Man comes out before X-Men, but Spidey won't have a trailer out until a month and a half later. Like I said, timing, scheduling and which movie has more to lose is taken into account. Considering X-Men's budget, Fox feels it may have the most to lose...

MemberMothra LarvaeNov-09-2013 7:58 PMI'm not sure if its just me but I have a pretty big hope that the Godzilla movie will pull through...yes a lot of people would be going to said movies ( captain america 2, spider man and x-men) but i have a feeling a lot of people are gonna be going to see Godzilla obviously fans of Godzilla but I was thinking a lot of people who are fans of Bryan Cranston are likely to go see the movie as well especially since breaking bad is over now ....it seems likely that a lot of people will likely want to see him in another performance ....obviously all of this is in theory but y'know all we can do is wait and see what happens...but i have a feeling that all these marvel movies in one sitting are going to make people bored ...that's just my opinion though.
