Godzilla and Magic The Gathering may have a new collab event in the near future. Images have just appeared online of what appear to be promotional Godzilla box toppers from the upcoming Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths expansion set. The listed card names are "Godzilla, Primordial Champion," "Bioquartz Spacegodzilla," and "King Caesar, Ancient Guardian."
While the legitimacy of the cards is still in question, there are several reasons as to why they may be real. To start, they are alternate versions of real cards with the original card names under the kaiju titles. This means that they would in theory be tournament legal once released.
Hasbro (the owners of Magic The Gathering and Wizards of the Coast) also currently has the rights to Godzilla thanks to their recently announced Godzilla Monopoly and Jenga products. Several other key items, such as the card artists, card designs, and the context of the images, also all lean towards them possibly being legitimate. However, take this all with a grain of salt until an official announcement is given.
