NECA has officially announced that they are done making Godzilla figures. Starting in mid-August, the company will no longer be selling any Godzilla figures nor other Godzilla merchandise.
Rumors and reports that NECA would be losing the Godzilla license started several months ago. However, when the below image recently started circulating throughout the fandom, talks of NECA ending their Godzilla line started to heat up.
Confirmation that the Godzilla line would be discontinued came when the official NECA Twitter account responded to a fan's question yesterday afternoon. NECA also stated that the Biollante Bile and Hyper Maser Blast figures would still indeed be released, although specific dates weren't given.
There is a chance that NECA could regain the Godzilla license sometime in the future after Playmates' rights expire and/or Godzilla vs. Kong merchandise is off the shelves. The possibly of this was also previously hinted at by Randy Falk (VP and General Manager of Product Development at NECA) during an interview.
However, this is just a possibility of what may happen in the future. Only time will tell if NECA will eventually regain the Godzilla licensing rights and begin making figures once again.
