Michael Dougherty's Godzilla: King of the Monsters has been filming for less than two weeks, but hype for the highly anticipated sequel is already mounting. There's been very little in the way of real news, but the film's youngest star, Millie Bobby Brown, spoke briefly about the film and its prequel to W Magazine.
"I'm going to do my first ever movie, which is Godzilla. So it's really exciting," exclaimed the Stranger Things star. When asked if she had seen Godzilla before she replied, "Yes. Not the originals, though. The originals like you have to get on a special website, so I watched the last one with Bryan Cranston it was so good."
After filming, Brown will have no time to go back to England and will instead stick around to do publicity for Stranger Things and attend the Emmys. The 13 year old is quite busy.
Meanwhile, Michael Dougherty continued to tease fans last week on Twitter. The director snapped images of the Godzilla 2 clapboard (with its working title "Fathom") and a call sheet seemingly confirming that all four monsters will be seen on-screen together.
There's been a lot of speculation among fans about what the letters to the far right stand for. The "R" next to the monsters' names mean "rehearsal" indicating the "actor" will be working on-set, but not filmed. "SW" stands for "start work" which means it's the actor's (or actress's) first day of work. We wish Mothra the very best after her 13 year vacation.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters stars Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Kyle Chandler (Super 8, Friday Night Lights), Vera Farmiga (The Departed), O'Shea Jackson (Straight Outta Compton), Aisha Hinds (If I Stay), Anthony Ramos (Hamilton), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Randy Havens (Stranger Things), Ken Watanabe, (Godzilla), Sally Hawkins (Godzilla), Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley), Bradley Whitford (Get Out, West Wing) and Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). The film will be directed by Michael Dougherty from his screenplay co-written by Zach Shields. Alex Garcia is producing.
Stay tuned for possible set leaks and more information as filming carries on.
