Since 2011, IDW Publishing has been supplying Godzilla fans with issue after issue of immensely entertaining, beautifully illustrated, and monster filled comic series', and there appears to be no end in sight! Following the climax of their third ongoing series, Godzilla, Rulers of Earth, last year, the company has focused on producing a line of 5 issue long miniseries’, a format that has served the Monster King well for many years with astounding stories such as Godzilla: Gangsters and Goliaths and the critically hailed Godzilla: The Half-Century War. Last year, IDW released the apocalyptic Godzilla: Cataclysm and the surreal Godzilla in Hell, and this month will see issue #3 of Godzilla: Oblivion hit shelves.
And now, courtesy of SciFi Japan, there is news that we have yet another new series to look forward to… dropping in August, 2016, will be the first issue of the newly revealed Godzilla: Rage Across Time!
Following the format established in Godzilla in Hell, each of the five issues of this epic miniseries will not only feature Godzilla in a different time era, but be brought to the page by a different team of creators! For issue #1 (which sees Godzilla appear in feudal era Japan!), IDW has unleashed a radioactive bombshell: longtime fan, Godzilla artist extraordinaire, and IDW veteran Matt Frank will be handling art duties, and co-writing the story with none other than acclaimed thriller author Jeremy Robinson, famous to kaiju fans as the author of Project: Nemesis and its sequels, on which he also collaborated with Frank. Talk about a dream team!
Featuring two covers (one by Matt Frank, and one by the legendary Bob Eggleton, pictured above), Godzilla: Rage Across Time #1 will be available for preorder soon, and will stomp its way into comic book stores in August.
