Godzilla vs. Kong will see the utilization of King Ghidorah's DNA, as the post-credits scene at the end of Godzilla: King of the Monsters suggests. During the final scene, we see Charles Dance's character inspecting the severed Ghidorah head which Godzilla had discarded during battle. Earlier this fall director Michael Dougherty sat down with CBM to discuss the importance and impact of this post-credits footage and what it might mean for Godzilla vs. Kong.
Of course the first thought which popped into everyone's head was - will Godzilla vs. Kong see the introduction of Mecha-King Ghidorah? To that question, Dougherty says... the scene was not meant as a direct acknowledgment of such a theory, but doesn't deny the possibility either:
That wasn't a direct set up of Mecha-King Ghidorah, no. I'm not saying it's not, but if you think about King Ghidorah and what's he capable of, regeneration being a key one and the ability to call the other Titans, he's a gold mine of opportunity. That DNA is an untapped resource as far as Charles Dance's character is concerned. A few scrapings of cells and who knows what you can create with it!
Whether or not Godzilla vs. Kong sees the resurg6 of Ghidorah in his mecha-nized state, we know Ghidorah's DNA will be utilized some how, some way. The popular theory is that Godzilla vs. Kong will initially see the two titular Titans battling each other, but will need to put their differences aside and team up to defeat a much more powerful and dangerous enemy. This could be a Ghidorah variant... or it could be something else entirely - our money is still on Destroyah making a Monsterverse debut, but until we know for certain, that speculation remains nothing more than rumor.
How do YOU think Ghidorah's DNA will be used in Godzilla vs. Kong (2020)? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
