As post-production is slowing on Michael Dougherty's Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Adam Wingard's Godzilla vs. Kong begins production today! The long awaited rematch starts shooting in Hawaii and will move to Australia at a later date.

Read the new synopsis below:

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

Sounds like the events of Godzilla: King of the Monsters sets the stage for the world we'll witness in Godzilla vs. Kong--Whatever that may be.

Further credits include:

...director of photography Ben Seresin (“World War Z,” “Unstoppable”), production designers Owen Patterson (“Godzilla,” “The Matrix” Trilogy and “Captain America: Civil War”) and Tom Hammock (“The Guest,” “Blindspotting”), editor Josh Schaeffer (“Molly’s Game,” “Kong: Skull Island”), costume designer Ann Foley (“Altered Carbon”), and VFX supervisor John “DJ” DesJardin (“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “Watchmen”).

Godzilla vs. Kong stars Alexander Skarsgard (The Legend of Tarzan), Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things, Godzilla: King of the Monsters), Rebecca Hall (Iron Man 3, The Town), Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta), Shun Oguri (Azumi 2, Lupin 3rd), Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver), Jessica Henwick (Game of Thrones, Iron Fist), Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2) with Kyle Chandler (Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Friday Night Lights), Demian Bichir (The Nun, Alien: Covenant), Van Marten (Avengers: Infinity War) and Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). The film is directed by Adam Wingard based on a writers room story written by Terry Rossio. Alex Garcia is producing.

Godzilla vs. Kong hits theaters May 22nd, 2020.

Hopefully, notes are taken based on how people liked Godzilla (2014) and Kong: Skull Island.

Vague but I guess you can't give away too much of the plot.  Oh right, they're going to fight.  Got it.

I think the most important detail is the mention of a Human conspiracy that threatens things.

Sounds like there are going to be "lots of Monsters" roaming around even after King of the Monsters ;)

Ah, well I kinda figured that The Big G wouldn't wander haphazardly onto Skull Island and start a turf war, makes sense that the factor of human intervention would be at least mostly responsible for them starting a duke out.

Now how hard to I have to petition Warners to have both a tribute character to Mr. Tako AND finally get Takarada San a proper UNCUT cameo in this thing?

I can't wait for this. Godzilla and Kong, the two most powerful monsters. Finally, they will fight again in the rematch we've all been waiting for. And with the potential of other monsters thrown into the mix, we may get even more spectacular battles we didn't even think of. Let them fight!
