Godzilla Minus One sequel working title + filming begins this August!

Takashi Yamazaki's next Godzilla movie, the direct sequel to his infamous Godzilla Minus One now officially begins filming next month! A casting call for extras in Japan by Yamazaki's own website has stated the cameras for Toho's next Godzilla movie will start rolling by August 30th, 2025 and will continue through to September 4th!

Toho's new movie "Masterpiece Monster Movie (working title)" is looking for volunteer extras!

The director, scriptwriter, and VFX creator is Takashi Yamazaki, a leading figure in visual expression and VFX that makes full use of advanced CG visuals. He has worked on many hit films, including "The Great War of Archimedes," "Eternal Zero," and the "Always: Sunset on Third Street" series. His latest film, "Godzilla 1.0," was the first Asian film to win the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards, and has also achieved many other great feats, winning over 50 top awards both domestically and internationally.

Please look forward to the latest "Blockbuster Monster Movie (tentative title)," in which Director Takashi Yamazaki takes on the challenge with a cast of some of Japan's most impressive actors.

Indeed, this will be a masterpiece monster movie! Takashi Yamazaki's Godzilla Minus One sequel will be a direct follow-up to his previous entry and its been announced that the film will introduce additional monsters, in true Godzilla sequel fashion. Further plot details remain a mystery at the moment, but we know Toho's release schedule is eyeing a 2026 release date. A concrete date has yet to be announced, however.
