Godzilla Minus One director Takashi Yamazaki wants to tackle the challenge of a serious Monster vs. Monster battle if Minus One gets a sequel! Speaking to Empire Magazine, Takashi expressed his interest in bringing the serious tone of Minus One and applying it to a storyline which could balance a Human drama as well as additional Monsters:

I don’t know if anyone has achieved a more serious tone of kaiju vs kaiju with human drama, that challenge, is something I would like to explore.
He further adds:
When you have movies that feature [kaiju battles], I think it's very easy to put the spotlight and the camera on this massive spectacle, and it detaches itself from the human drama component.

Takashi Yamazaki did a phenomenal job balancing the human struggle with that of Godzilla and its threat to Japan. Introducing additional Monsters does detract from that dynamic, but if anyone is capable of balancing the Monster and Human drama in a serious way, Yamazaki is the man to do it.
If Godzilla Minus One gets a sequel and if it involves another Monster, which Monster would YOU like to see brought back? Or would you rather Toho introduce brand new Monsters to the franchise? Let us know in the comments section below!
