Funko’s POP vinyl figures… who doesn’t love ‘em?
For nearly half a decade, this line of collectable and cute figures (which take the form of bobble-heads and unarticulated toys) has brought us beloved characters from just about every movie and television show imaginable, reimagined as simplified, chibi-esque versions that look great on any desk or dashboard.
However, for the kaiju fans out there, there has always been one glaring omission from this massive collection of loved pop cultural characters… the King of the Monsters himself, Godzilla.
But now, the wait is finally over… at the GameStop Expo, the long teased (a list of upcoming POP figures, which included Godzilla, was released in July), and surely LONG dreamt of by fans Godzilla POP Vinyl figure has been revealed to the world!
As the picture shows, this figure is a far cuter version of what appears to be the Heisei Godzilla (note the four toes and double rows of teeth), and will be one of Funko’s larger releases. For those hoping for a Godzilla bobble-head for their cars, unfortunately, this figure is simply a collectable vinyl doll, similar to Bandai America’s Tokyo Vinyl Super Deformed Godzilla from a few years ago. However, the simple fact that Godzilla is FINALLY joining the POP Vinyl family is great news! Here’s to hoping that more kaiju join the line soon. Can you imagine how awesome a POP Vinyl King Ghidorah would be?!
The Godzilla POP Vinyl Figure from Funko is due for release this November, and will cost an estimated $16.99-$17.99.
